Witch Special
Chapter 76: Wild Hammer, super evolution.
Over the next few days, Lin Zhenxi began carving a large, attribute-transforming magic circle above the signal amplification tower she had chosen. Because the project involved such a large scale, Lin Zhenxi had no choice but to increase the area of the magic circle, which doubled her workload. So, while she waited for the cable to be laid, she found her life quite fulfilling.
However, the work of carving the magic circle was completed before the cable was delivered, so while waiting for the cable to arrive, Lin Zhenxi pulled back the Wild Hammer that she had almost forgotten and greatly strengthened it.
Lin Zhenxi had previously assigned Wildhammer to the role of hero, essentially testing the waters of the hero camp. She hadn't anticipated Wildhammer's S-Class status. In Lin Zhenxi's eyes, Wildhammer was merely borrowing the powers of animals: the agility of a wolf, the strength of a bear, the speed of a leopard, the defense of a turtle. At best, he was just an "Animal Hero," a lowly figure. She doubted Wildhammer would have been able to handle the multi-kilometer-tall Colossal Titan she'd encountered upon arriving in this world. He'd likely have been crushed with a single blow.
The reason Wildhammer was rated S-rank wasn't just because of Lin Zhenxi's rectified values, but also because the Z City government had put in a lot of effort behind the scenes. An S-rank hero is a city's calling card, and if City Z could produce a permanent S-rank hero, it would not only be a huge boost to the people's morale, but also a considerable bonus to its political achievements.
But City Z is in dire need of these two things.
To sum up, under complex conditions, Wild Hammer can be evaluated as the end of S-level despite its not very strong strength.
But now that Lin Zhenxi has leveled up and her total magic power has increased significantly, the magic patterns she can draw have reached a higher level in both quantity and quality. Now, it's time to replace the animal magic patterns on Wild Hammer with more powerful magical beasts and fantasy beasts.
Because the previous drawing took up too much skin, Lin Zhenxi had to peel off the entire skin of the Wild Hammer from the body, and then use magic to create a new layer of skin.
This process was completed in Kinos's sterile laboratory because Lin Zhenxi was not confident that the Wildhammer would not be infected when she skinned him. Her magic was only good at changing the observable reality and had not yet extended to the macro and micro worlds, so she was relatively powerless against tiny organisms such as bacteria and viruses that could only be observed under a microscope.
Because they used Kinos's lab, Kinos and his clones inevitably participated in the Wildhammer's transformation. Upon discovering that the Wildhammer's body was still a normal human, Kinos's creative drive was immediately unleashed. He had been researching the mass production of the Asura Rhinoceros Beetle. While he hadn't yet achieved a reliable method for mass production, he had made some progress.
For example, the "infinite evolution" attribute of the Asura Rhinoceros Beetle, which strengthens after being struck, was extracted by Kinos and created into the "Kinos Factor," named after him. A creature injected with the "Kinos Factor" rapidly distorts its body, transforming into a ferocious flesh monster that grows stronger with each battle. As long as it breathes and remains, the flesh monster will burn through the energy of its own cells, rising again and again after being struck down. It rapidly evolves through battle, correcting its flaws and transforming itself into the "perfect" fighting form. It will not stop until its entire body is reduced to ash.
The results of this research are too dangerous. Kinos and Hayashi Maki conducted experiments using the "Kinos Factor". Even a laboratory-raised mouse, under the catalysis of a little bit of the "Kinos Factor", can evolve into a monster comparable to a Tiger-level monster in a very short period of time, with no reason and a lifespan as short as minutes.
Genos wanted to inject the "Ginos Factor" into Wild Hammer's body, and he also promised that after receiving the transformation of the Genos Factor, Wild Hammer would have the combat power of the Asura Rhinoceros Beetle in the explosive state, which would definitely be comparable to a dragon-level monster.
Then, he was kicked by Lin Zhenxi in the butt and sent flying. This guy had completely turned into a scientific madman who didn't care about appearance at all. As long as the creatures he modified were strong enough, he didn't care what they looked like.
Lin Zhenxi didn't really care. The Wildhammer was just a casually crafted humanoid combat puppet she'd used to test the Hero Association's credentials. Now that Lin Zhenxi had established herself in this world, the Wildhammer's significance had diminished. If it weren't for the sudden free time she'd had and the urge to find something to do, Lin Zhenxi wouldn't even have remembered she'd created such a humanoid weapon.
But the problem is that Lin Zhenxi plans to use Wild Hammer's skin as a canvas to draw magic patterns. After the creature is injected with the "Kinos Factor", its flesh and blood will inevitably be deformed. The muscles of the mutated monster are exposed, and there is not even a piece of good skin on its body. How can Lin Zhenxi's magic patterns take effect?
When his first plan failed, Kinos immediately came up with another one. Since Lin Zhenxi only wanted the skin on the Wild Hammer, didn't that mean he could modify everything else besides the skin?
Creating an S-class hero with your own hands, what could be more fulfilling than this? Genos, who knew he was not a good person, was so excited that his brain was trembling just thinking about it.
Finally, Lin Zhenxi agreed that simply painting magic patterns on the skin seemed a bit monotonous. The fragile internal organs beneath Wildhammer's tough skin had repeatedly threatened his life when he fought monsters. If he hadn't been brainwashed by Lin Zhenxi into a resilient and unyielding hero, he would have been defeated in the battles with the monsters long ago.
While failure is shameful for a hero, it's not a formidable task. When one hero falls, many more rise. As long as humanity refuses to surrender, the monsters will eventually be defeated. This is the collective consensus of human society. However, since his debut, Wildhammer, despite facing countless arduous battles, has maintained an undefeated record, save for the attack by "The Organization." His exceptionally high fighting spirit undoubtedly played a decisive role.
Now that the flaw has been identified, it's time to fix it. Kinos's research into the "Kinos Factor" is a great way to do this. Is the flesh and blood deformation uncontrollable? Then add a framework to it, confining the deformed flesh and blood to a suitable range.
Fragile internal organs? Muscles not strong enough? Bones not tough enough? Throw them all away! Aside from a skin that still retains its human form, the Wildhammer's entire body is replaced with the product of distorted flesh and blood, using enchanted skin to mysteriously enhance its properties and suppress the unbridled growth brought on by uncontrolled biotechnology.
Kinos would never believe that Lin Zhenxi could actually use human skin to suppress the effects of flesh deformation on a biological form. Even the hardest tempered glass would be broken by the constantly deforming flesh, so how could skin possibly do that? But after Lin Zhenxi showed off her skills, he squatted aside, pulling his hair and questioning his life.
Following the drastic transformation of the Wildhammer's entire body, the process quickly reached the two most important organs in the body - the heart and the brain.
Lin Zhenxi had her own plans for these two parts, and Kinos didn't really have any particularly good ideas. When the Kinos factor reaches its limit, it will take over and devour its host, transforming it into a perpetually hungry, insatiable slime of flesh and blood. At that point, no internal organs exist, not even the heart and brain, vital to life and death. This slime will feed relentlessly, devouring every living thing and plant it encounters, breaking them down into nutrients. When its size becomes insufficient to sustain itself, it will even devour itself, annihilating itself. This is the ultimate fate of all creatures transformed by the Kinos factor.
The human body has too many fatal parts. A blow to the head can kill, a pierced heart can kill, a liver can kill, and a blow to the kidneys can also kill. Even if these organs are not damaged, if only the skin is cut without bandaging or stopping the bleeding, the person will die from excessive blood loss.
These obvious shortcomings will not exist at all in the super-cyborg Hammer.
The brain and heart: one is responsible for pumping blood and delivering oxygen to the body, while the other is responsible for thinking and is the residence of the soul. They can be simply understood as one responsible for energy and the other for the soul. Now, Lin Zhenxi intends to combine the functions of these two organs into one, integrating them into a single core.
Replacing the brain and heart with a magic core is the normal operation of a puppet. Previously, Lin Zhenxi lacked the technology to create flesh puppets, primarily due to a lack of flesh to fill them. Now, it seems the Kinos Factor can effectively solve this problem. A magic core imbued with mystery can only be destroyed by a greater mystery. While the Kinos Factor possesses advanced technology, it lacks specialized expertise and cannot even penetrate the enchanted skin, making it useless against the magic core. Conversely, the magic core can leverage its own mystique to infuse the flesh, imprinting its mark on the raging flesh at the soul level and bringing it under its control, effectively imposing a controller on it. This way, even if the skin is breached, the leaking flesh will not transform into a runaway flesh slime, causing a devastating disaster.
A magic core houses the soul, regulating and channeling energy; flesh and blood, enhanced by the Kinos factor, provides a formidable, ever-evolving physique; and skin, inscribed with magic patterns, creates its outer form, endowed with supernatural abilities, including rapid healing, through the use of beast-like magic patterns. Thus, a perpetual motion-like flesh and blood magic puppet, nearly immortal and capable of continuous evolution, was born in Kinos's laboratory.
The code name is still "Wild Hammer".
