Witch Special

Chapter 1 Hayashi Maki, Black Cat and New Blue City

At exactly six o'clock in the morning, the alarm clock with the sound of waves rang in the dim room, breaking the quiet of the early morning and starting a new day.

An arm stretched out from the fluffy blanket and randomly slapped the alarm clock that was constantly making sounds. However, the alarm clock was placed in a place where it was impossible to reach. If you wanted to turn it off, you had to get up from the bed.

Only in this way can we prevent our protagonist from falling asleep after turning off the alarm clock.

After struggling on the bed for about five minutes, the protagonist, unable to bear the increasingly loud sound of the alarm clock, finally sat up from the bed reluctantly, lifted the quilt, and after searching for slippers in vain, he simply walked barefoot on the floor, came to the alarm clock, and pressed it.

"Good morning, meow, Maki." In the still dark room, a childish voice yawned and came from the corner.

"Ah...um..."

Our protagonist, still not fully awake, staggered to the window, raised her hand to grab the curtain and pulled it hard. The bright light outside the window instantly dispelled the darkness in the room, and she unconsciously closed her eyes, letting her eyes adjust to the sudden change in light and darkness.

The room was a mess, with outerwear and underwear scattered across the floor. There were also numerous books filled with mysterious symbols that no human could possibly understand, creating a chaotic scene. The quilt on the bed was completely rolled up into a ball, and it was impossible to imagine what kind of sleeping position could have caused it to be so crumpled.

In the corner of the room, a thick, black, patent-leather book lay open, and atop it sat a pure black cat with a long tail, pointed ears, and a long, pointed tail. It was a little strange, but the voice that had just said good morning to our protagonist was none other than this black cat.

"Good morning, Yanyan." The protagonist casually responded to his black cat, then lowered his head to look for what he was looking for.

Of course not underwear... Although that is indeed what should be found, after all, she is used to sleeping naked, but there is no rush.

But she seemed a little too casual yesterday. She made a mess of the room and couldn't find the most important thing for a while.

"Yanyan, where's my wand?"

"Hey, Maki, if you keep being so sloppy, no one will want you in the future," the black cat complained, dodging the alarm clock that its owner grabbed and threw at it, and burrowed into the pile of books. Ten seconds later, as the pile of books collapsed, the black cat poked its head out, holding a small wooden stick in its mouth.

The protagonist waved her hand, and the stick flew from the black cat's mouth into her palm. She expertly grasped the handle at the end of the stick and waved it twice, seemingly casually yet methodically.

"Tidy it up."

Following the magical words, all the objects cluttering the room began to float up, bouncing back to where they belonged. In the blink of an eye, the originally messy room became tidy and clean.

Everything returned to order, except our protagonist herself.

Scratching the ends of his frizzy hair, the protagonist found his slippers that had flown to the bedside, grabbed his wand and walked into the bathroom.

Three or five minutes later, the protagonist, who had dressed up at the speed of light, walked out of the bathroom in a sports suit and with a long ponytail.

"Yanyan, let's go."

"Hey~hey, (yawn) Seriously, meow! Cats sleep for more than twelve hours a day, and you actually let a cat go for your morning run? I'm going to the Animal Protection Association to file a complaint against you for abusing me."

"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up." The protagonist had already put on his sneakers and opened the door and urged.

Although they were very reluctant, this was their daily routine after all. The black cat complained, and directly floated into the air against common sense, following the protagonist who had already pushed the door and walked out.

Just like the magic wand in the protagonist's hand, this talking black cat is also part of the "magic".

----------

Maki Hayashi, the protagonist of this book, is an "ordinary" office worker who works in a "nameless" company.

My parents are still alive, I'm financially independent, I'm single, and I don't want to get married. I'm 1.72 meters tall, and my age and weight are all secrets.

Although she looks very young... no, too young. If you look at her face alone, you might think she just graduated from high school and hasn't started college yet. But in fact, this year is already our protagonist's tenth year of work, and she is already a qualified office worker.

Every morning, Lin Zhenxi has a morning jog habit. Facing the early morning sunshine, breathing in the fresh air, and jogging around the park near her home, this is her way of waking up her body and starting a new day.

Six-thirty was incredibly early for students. Aside from those cultivators who stayed up all night, few people would see the sun at that time. But the city itself was already waking up.

The automated street sweepers were systematically cleaning the already clean streets. Overhead, an airship in the sky was broadcasting the weather on a large screen visible to the entire city. Lin Zhenxi stretched her ankles and knees, then took off running toward the city park closest to her home.

Most of the shops along the way were already open, especially those selling breakfast, which were bustling with activity. Among the bustling crowds, there were occasional figures with long ears and horns sticking out, making them appear taller than normal.

On the streets, Lin Zhenxi encountered numerous citizens bearing distinctly inhuman traits. These included, but were not limited to, demons with horns growing from their heads, rabbits with long, dangling ears that would spontaneously hop as they walked, a three-meter-tall bear carrying a box on its shoulder, and a snake still crawling on the ground but wearing a top hat. These seemingly bizarre sights seemed commonplace in this magical city. No one, human, alien, or animal, noticed anything unusual about the scene before them.

Even the black cat floating in mid-air beside Lin Zhenxi didn't cause much of a stir, aside from attracting a few slightly admiring glances from passersby. Even such an obviously otherworldly creature was merely a part of the city's "daily life."

This "non-daily" daily life is the main theme of this city, because this is a city built specifically for "foreigners".

"Foreigners" are, to put it simply, travelers from other worlds. The world Lin Zhenxi lives in originally only has humans, and of course there are no supernatural powers. Everyone is ordinary, and technology is the only force that allows humans to overcome nature.

But since when, perhaps more than ten years ago, these travelers from other worlds have begun to appear in large numbers.

When these aliens first appeared, society was plunged into immense turmoil. These aliens, thrown into panic by the sudden change in their environment, along with the criminal groups targeting them, brought immense trouble to society. Fortunately, however, the government of this world possessed sufficient courage. After confirming the reality of the large influx of aliens, it quickly finalized a plan for their resettlement.

Give foreigners the definition of "human" and protect their personal rights.

However, it was also necessary to protect the lives of ordinary humans from being destroyed or interfered with by these suddenly appearing aliens. When humans and aliens could not understand each other, separating the two was the best option. Therefore, a city built specifically for aliens came into being.

This is the city where Lin Zhenxi is now, New Blue City, a new city where aliens and humans can live in harmony.

Witnessing the success of New Blue City, cities across the world, modeled after it, established cohabiting cities for humans and aliens. Humans provided shelter and a place for aliens to live, while aliens brought with them cultures and civilizations distinct from Earth. This collision sparked intense activity, accelerating the advancement of Earth's civilization.

Ten years ago, the vision of intelligent robots filling the streets, hovercars racing along the roads, and giant airships floating overhead would have been unimaginable. But now, all of this has become a reality, a testament to the progress of civilization.

Running into the park, away from the clamor of the streets, the world suddenly seemed to quiet down. While some elderly people strolled along the tree-lined paths in the early morning, young people who jogged were still a minority. Lin Zhenxi ran a long loop along the park's tree-lined paths with her black cat. She encountered few people, but she did encounter a flock of stray cats. The black cat flew over to the group of native cats, meowing with awe. Lin Zhenxi took the opportunity to calm her breathing and do a few stretches. When the black cat returned, satisfied, Lin Zhenxi set off again for the second half of her morning run.

After running around the park trail, it was already past seven. Lin Zhenxi washed her face at the park's drinking water tap, slowed down her pace, and began to walk back.

Passing by a cafe, she bought a sandwich as usual. The owner was a polar bear who had traveled through time, and his desserts were incredibly skilled, loved not only by humans but also by those from other worlds. Lin Zhenxi had just encountered a bear enjoying breakfast in the cafe; it was a regular.

Holding the wrapped sandwich, Lin Zhenxi returned home and prepared to go to work.
