Chapter 441 Lifting the Curse
The breeze from Taoyuan Star caressed Rosie's cheek. She squatted down and gently touched Caesar's black hair. The little guy raised his head, his eyes flashing with a calmness beyond his age, like a miniature of Kyle.
"Wait until I come back." Rosie adjusted Caesar's collar, her voice soft but firm.
Caesar pursed his lips, but his small hands firmly grasped the corner of her clothes: "You promise?"
"Promise." Rosie patted his head, then stood up and looked at Kyle, who was waiting not far away. His black armor gleamed coldly in the sunlight, and his amber eyes held a rare softness.
Laing leaned back in his wheelchair, his pale face etched with fatigue, but he insisted on seeing Rosie off. "Be careful," he extended his hand, and Rosie took it, feeling the warmth of his palm.
"Sure." Luo Xi nodded, a firm light flashing in her black eyes.
Lingyuan and Xingyu stood in the front hall, one with deep red eyes, the other with amber pupils flashing with alertness. They were the perfect candidates for this trip—Lingyuan's psychic abilities could detect authenticity, while Xingyu's ice abilities were highly compatible with the abyssal waters.
Luo Qian closed her eyes, and the pale blue light of Poseidon's Heart emerged from her palm. She extended her consciousness, piercing the invisible barrier, and sensed a faint response from the cold darkness.
"Duoya." She called in her consciousness.
"The Holy Lady." The response was weak but clear. "The ritual has been prepared in the deepest reaches of Moasis. When the tide turns, the power of the Heart of the Sea God is at its purest, which is the perfect time to break the curse."
Luo Xi opened her eyes and nodded to the others: "Get ready to go."
In the open space of the atrium, Rosie held a sacred object in each hand. In her left hand, the Mirror of the Void shone with starlight, while in her right, the Heart of the Seagod glowed with a deep blue light. The two sacred objects resonated in her hands, their energy flowing in a perfect cycle.
Kyle stood behind her, his slender fingers touching her shoulder: "Coordinates locked."
This time, the space-time passage opened much more smoothly. A faint blue light unfolded from the void, forming a stable portal. Rosie could feel the power of the relic flowing through her body. Compared to her previous struggle, she now had full control.
"Let's go." She took the lead and stepped into the light gate.
The weightless feeling of traveling through time was fleeting. A damp, cold air hit her face. Rosie opened her eyes, and the outline of the Moasis ruins loomed in the deep blue water. The Abyss Royal City was quieter than she remembered, with several towers in ruins, under repair.
Duoya and several elders waited at the entrance. Behind her, Mingying stood with his arms folded, his black armor unable to conceal the complex emotions in his eyes.
"Holy Lady." Duoya nodded slightly, "Welcome back to the abyss."
The two groups eyed each other warily. Rosie, sensing Kyle's tense presence behind her, raised her hand, signaling, "We're only here to lift the curse."
The road deeper into the ruins was not easy. Duoya led them through the deep passages, with each step accompanied by the low explanation of the shadow.
"The curse of the abyss is not a simple pollution of the soul." Stygian's voice was hoarse, "It is a bloodline shackle that binds our power and twists our souls."
Rosie glanced sideways, noticing the pain that flickered in Stygian's eyes as he spoke.
"A royal guard like me, possessing the most ancient bloodline, bears the heaviest curse," Stygian continued. "My power is unstable, I can't control my full form, my soul is constantly torn apart, and even..." He paused, "I can't truly unite with my partner."
Ling Yuan's red eyes flickered: "The source of the curse?"
Duoya lowered her eyes: "The resentment of a fallen ancient god merged with the primordial power of the abyss. The place where the ancient god fell is the core area we are heading to."
At the end of the passage, they finally stepped into the core of an abyss they had never visited before. Here, the water was as still as a mirror, the walls were covered with glowing corals, and in the center was an ancient altar that had long been silent.
Rosie stopped, and the rhythm of the Sea God's Heart in her palm became rapid and strong, like the joy of a child returning home.
"This is where it all began." Duoya's voice echoed in the space, and every syllable resonated with the surrounding water waves.
Ancient carvings on the altar outlined a female figure, a halo surrounding her graceful silhouette. In her hand, she held a beating heart, beneath her were millions of slumbering abyssal creatures. Rosie took a step forward, and the Heart of Poseidon trembled wildly in her palm, threatening to break free.
As the tide approached, the rhythm of the water became distinct. A flicker of nervousness flashed across Duoya's eyes, and she pointed to the center of the altar. "It's time, Holy Lady."
Rosie took a deep breath and stepped onto the center of the altar. The stone slab beneath her feet lit up with a faint blue light, spreading out like a star map. She raised her hands, and the seven sacred objects slowly rose around her, swirling around her.
"Concentrate your mind and direct the energy towards the Heart of the Sea God," Duoya instructed in a low voice. "It is the core of breaking the curse."
Rosie closed her eyes, feeling the power of the Seven Sacred Relics coursing through her blood. The Ring of Eternity emanated a soft white light, the Frost Soul Lamp released a chilling chill, the Demon Slayer Sword shone with golden light, the Book of Infinity unfolded infinite possibilities, the Mirror of the Void reflected time and space, the Heart of the Qilin beat with Enzo's final warmth, and the Heart of the Seagod—it gushed forth a deep, azure energy, as if the ocean itself were rhythmically pulsing within her palm.
"It's started." Rosie said softly.
She channeled the power of the seven sacred relics into a beam that shot straight at the core of the altar. Ancient runes activated, and the entire space was instantly filled with the roar of rushing water.
The curse has been awakened.
Darkness seeped out from the cracks in the altar like ink, quickly forming a vortex that surrounded Rosie. She felt a huge pressure squeezing every inch of her skin, trying to find a way out.
"Hold on!" Ling Yuan's red eyes flashed, veins bulged on his forehead, and his mental power turned into an invisible barrier to protect Luo Qian's mind.
The curse was cunning and insidious. It burrowed deep into Rosie's consciousness, conjuring images of Enzo's sacrifice—the Kirin tattoo on his chest radiating its final light, his body dissolving into tiny specks of starlight and dissipating. Then, Falcon, consumed by the evil, struggled to call out her name, yet was forever trapped in ancient time and space.
"Don't believe it!" Ling Yuan's voice penetrated the illusion, "This is just a trick of the curse!"
Rosie gritted her teeth, tears streaming down her face. "I know..."
Kyle knelt on one knee, pressing his hands to the ground. Black energy emanated from his fingertips, forming a circular barrier to resist any external impact. "Hold on a little longer, Sissi," he said in a low, firm voice. "I won't let anything hurt you."
The water flow around the altar became violent, and the immense pressure caused cracks to appear in Kyle's barrier. Doya's eyes flashed with panic: "The curse is resisting! It doesn't want to be cleansed!"
"Don't stop!" Styx suddenly shouted, "This is a good sign! It proves that the purification is working!"
Xingyu took a step forward, his amber pupils gleaming with determination. He extended his hand, his palm radiating an icy blue light, and placed it directly on Luo Xi's back. "Give me a hand, Xixi," he whispered softly, his life force flowing continuously into her body.
The dark vortex grew increasingly violent, and Rosie felt her energy rapidly draining away. She bit her lower lip, sweat forming on her forehead. The light of Poseidon's Heart began to flicker, as if it were about to go out.
"I can't hold on any longer..." She breathed weakly.
At this moment, a tiny voice echoed from deep within her consciousness. It wasn't an illusion, nor was it a call from the outside world, but rather came from the deepest part of her heart.
"Sissi..."
The voice was heartbreakingly familiar.
Enzo? Or Falcon? Or... Rain?
Luo Xi opened her eyes suddenly. The colorful starry sky was reflected in her irises, as if the entire universe was compressed in her pupils.
"I will not give up!" she said firmly, her arms raised high. "The children of the abyss have suffered enough!"
The Heart of the Seagod erupted with unprecedented brilliance, absorbing the power of the other six sacred objects, forming a column of pure energy that shot straight into the sky. The dark vortex let out a piercing scream, retreating step by step in the light...
