Taoyuan Star, master bedroom on the third floor.
The morning sun streamed in through the half-drawn veil. Rosie sat by the window, her hands suspended in the air, a blue crystal. The Heart of Poseidon slowly spun in her palms, its blue light illuminating her haggard face.
She stared at the crystal, her eyes hollow. Her black hair was disheveled, her lips pale, her jawline tense. Every time the crystal spun, her eyes swelled with unstoppable longing.
"rain…"
The name slipped past her lips, then was swallowed back. Suddenly, the crystal trembled, as if responding to her call. Rosie's fingertips tightened, and a pain surged in her chest. She pressed the Heart of Poseidon to her chest and closed her eyes. His face emerged clearly in her mind—the silver hair, those eyes, and that smile before it faded into a point of light.
"You liar." She whispered, her voice almost inaudible, "You said you would stay with me forever, but..."
Outside the window, the morning breeze rustled the treetops, and a few birds soared across the sky, free and unfettered. Rosie opened her eyes and watched them fly away. Falcon had said he wanted to find her, but she knew how difficult it was to bridge the gap between the primitive world and the modern world.
Outside the bedroom, footsteps approached. There was a knock on the door, and Ling Yuan's voice followed: "Xixi, would you like something to eat?"
Luo Xi took the Heart of Poseidon into her body. "Come in."
The door opened, and Ling Yuan stood in the doorway. His white hair flowed like a waterfall, his red eyes gentle. He held a tray, upon which a delicate meal exuded an alluring aroma. In the center of the plate sat an omelet, flanked by toast, fruit salad, and a steaming cup of black tea.
"I made what you like." Ling Yuan approached and placed the tray on the bedside table. He didn't remind Luo Xi that this was the third day she had locked herself in her room, nor did he point out the dark circles under her eyes and the thinness of her cheeks.
Luo Xi glanced at the tray. The fried eggs were sprinkled with black pepper, just the way she liked them. Ling Yuan remembered all her little habits. "Thank you," she said dryly.
Ling Yuan's red eyes flashed with worry, but he simply nodded. This was his way of dealing with his emotions—giving her space, but not giving up on caring for her.
"And this." He pulled a bottle of dark red wine from the bottom of the tray. "Bordeaux Star Red Wine. I specially asked Evan to go to the origin to buy it."
Luo Xi's eyes flickered. This was her favorite wine, and she had never told him that she liked it. Maybe he just drank a few more sips, but she didn't expect him to remember it.
She reached out to take the bottle, her fingertips accidentally brushing against the back of Lingyuan's hand. Lingyuan's red eyes flickered at the contact, but he didn't pull away. His body heat, steady and warm, contrasted sharply with her cold fingertips.
"You still remember." Rosie's voice was so soft that it was almost inaudible. The emotion that had been frozen in her chest for a long time seemed to be thawing.
"I remember everything about you." Ling Yuan knelt on one knee, looking her straight in the eye. Luo Xi's haggard face was reflected in his red eyes. He made no unnecessary movements, simply staring, yet his gaze spoke volumes.
Luo Xi's lips curled up slightly, finally showing some color. "I haven't had a drink in a long time."
"Want to try it now?" Ling Yuan asked. He stood up, fetched two goblets, and gracefully uncorked them. Deep red liquid poured into the goblets like flowing gemstones.
Rosie took the glass and swirled it slightly. Sunlight filtered through the glass, casting a red speck on her arm, like a pulsing life. She took a sip, the wine sliding down her throat, the familiar taste awakening dormant memories.
"Where's Lingxing?" she suddenly asked, remembering that the two little guys were lying at the door last night and refused to leave no matter how she coaxed them.
"She followed her brothers to the back garden." Ling Yuan smiled. "Your window was not closed. Guess what they did?"
Rosie frowned slightly.
"They transformed themselves into wolf cubs and tried to climb in through the window to see you." Ling Yuan's eyes flashed with a smile. "Fan Xiao caught them and promised to teach them new abilities, and then coaxed them away."
Luo Xi couldn't help but laugh. She could imagine the scene—two silver wolf cubs hanging on the windowsill, each one being slid down by Fan Xiao. Her laughter was genuine and warm, the first she'd heard in three days.
She raised her head and looked directly at Ling Yuan, "Can you help me prepare it? I want to have lunch with the kids today."
Ling Yuan's red eyes lit up, and a warm smile curved the corners of his mouth. He said nothing more, just nodded.
At that moment, Rosie felt a weight lift from her heart. The grief wouldn't go away, but life had to go on. The Heart of Poseidon vibrated softly in her pocket, as if echoing her decision.
……
At lunchtime, sunlight streamed into the restaurant through the floor-to-ceiling windows, spreading a golden hue across the floor.
When Rosie walked into the restaurant, the silver-haired Vanzuo and Vanyou immediately dropped their toys and bounded towards her. The two little guys hugged Rosie's legs, one on each side, their big amber eyes full of anticipation.
"Mom, we've been waiting for you for a long time." Fan You tilted his head back and said in a baby voice, clutching the hem of Rosie's skirt.
Fan Zuo didn't say anything, but just hugged Luo Xi tightly, with his little face pressed against her legs, but his eyes were scanning the surroundings vigilantly, like a little guardian.
Ling Yuan walked out of the kitchen, his white hair tied neatly back, and a hint of surprise flashed in his red eyes. "You're here." His voice was gentle, but he didn't hide the concern in his eyes.
"Yeah." Rosie nodded, feeling the body temperature from the two little guys, and the corners of her mouth finally showed a real curve.
The table was filled with exquisite food—grilled meat, vegetable salad, fruit platter, and steaming soup. Every dish was to her liking.
Rosie was about to sit down when Caesar suddenly woke up. The black-haired boy opened his amber eyes and stared at Rosie. Without saying a word, he climbed down from the high chair and stumbled towards Rosie.
"Mom." He called out, his voice childish but firm, and his little hands grabbed the corner of Rosie's clothes.
"I'll hold you." Rosie squatted down and picked up Caesar. The black-haired boy immediately hugged her neck, buried his little face in her neck, and refused to let go.
Fan Xiao walked in from the door, his icy blue eyes lighting up the moment he saw Luo Xi. "Xixi," he strode forward, his silver hair gleaming in the sunlight.
Rosie held Caesar in her arms, feeling the weight and warmth of the child, and the ice in her heart seemed to melt. She sat down, Caesar leaning against her, his little hands clutching her collar tightly.
"Caesar is particularly clingy today." Fan Xiao said with a smile, reaching out to take the child.
Caesar frowned and hugged Rosie tightly, burying his little face in her chest like a little animal guarding its food.
"No." His voice was muffled, with a firmness that could not be refused.
Fan Xiao raised an eyebrow and reluctantly withdrew his hand. "It seems he only recognizes his mother."
Lingxing woke up and saw Caesar in Luo Xi's arms. Her face immediately wrinkled. She twisted in the crib, stretched out her hands toward Luo Xi, and pouted, looking like she was about to cry.
"Mom!" she yelled, her voice filled with obvious dissatisfaction and jealousy.
Fan Xiao took the Spirit Star, but the little girl refused, twisting her body to go to Luo Xi. She stared at Caesar in Luo Xi's arms, her face puffed up with dissatisfaction.
"Look at our little princess, she's so jealous." Ling Yuan said with a smile, tenderness in his red eyes.
Rosie held Caesar in one hand and Lingxing in the other. The two little guys struggled in her arms, Caesar grabbed Rosie's collar and Lingxing hugged her neck tightly, the two staring at each other, neither willing to give in.
Fan Zuo and Fan You stood aside, watching their younger brothers and sisters vying for favor, and Fan Zuo frowned.
"Don't bully Mom." He said seriously, reaching out to pull Caesar away.
Caesar waved his hand away, a hint of stubbornness flashing in his amber eyes. "No."
Fan You tugged at the corner of Fan Zuo's clothes and shook his head. "Mom likes to hug my brothers and sisters," he whispered, his eyes fixed on Luo Xi, full of a desire to be noticed.
Luo Xi watched the scene before her, and a warm feeling welled up in her chest. She reached out and ruffled Fan You's silver hair. "Baby, mommy likes to hug you too."
Fan You immediately grinned, revealing his small canine teeth. Fan Zuo's face remained stern, but the tension in his eyes relaxed a little.
Kyle walked into the restaurant, his dark hair cascading down his shoulders, his amber eyes locked on Rosie. He strode forward and sat down beside her.
"Sissi." His voice was low, and his knuckles tapped lightly on the table. "Eat something."
Luo Xi then realized that she hadn't eaten properly in the past few days. She nodded, but found that the two little ones in her arms made it difficult for her to move.
"I'll do it." Ling Yuan reached out and took Ling Xing. The little girl reluctantly left Luo Xi's arms, but immediately burst into laughter when she saw Ling Yuan.
"Daddy." She called sweetly, patting Lingyuan's face with her little hands.
Ling Yuan's mouth twitched slightly, and he let her mess around. However, his red eyes kept looking at Luo Xi, making sure she had eaten well.
Rosie buried her head in her food, the long-lost aroma of food whetting her appetite. Caesar clung to her embrace, occasionally glancing up at her to make sure she had no intention of leaving before settling back in with peace of mind.
Fan Zuo and Fan You were lying on the table, chattering about the interesting things that had happened in the past few days. Fan Zuo's voice was calm and his sentences were short, while Fan You was dancing with joy, his eyes shining.
"Mom, Fan Zuo taught us how to use our superpowers." Fan You raised his little hand, with a faint breeze floating in his palm.
Fan Zuo nodded. "Fan You is making great progress." He rarely praised his younger brother, causing Fan You's face to turn red.
As Rosie listened to the children's words and looked at their smiling faces, the haze in her heart was gradually dispelled.
"Xixi." Ling Yuan handed over a cup of hot tea, his red eyes full of concern. "Eat more."
"Thank you," she said softly, a warm feeling welling up in her heart.
At this moment, the feeling of being surrounded by family and love is so real.
At night, Ivan and Damon returned from the Free Federation.
Although they are Rosie's partners, they are also students of the First Federal Military Academy. They have been back to school to attend classes during this period.
Upon hearing the news that Luo Xi had returned, they immediately rushed back and finally arrived in the evening. They also brought the latest news...
