The weak prince's queen
Chapter 50 Making Cards
"Ice Face is really boring. He didn't say a word. I'm so depressed." Chu Xiyue looked at Xiao Yichen's back as he walked away, breathed a sigh of relief, and muttered to herself.
"Princess, let's go back to our room and rest." Dong'er said softly.
Chu Xiyue nodded and followed Dong'er back to her room. As soon as she entered, she collapsed onto the bed like a deflated ball. Perhaps because she hadn't cooked so many dishes properly in so long, she felt a little exhausted.
After a while, Chu Xiyue fell into a deep sleep.
In her dream, Chu Xiyue held a brand new smartphone, a popular TV series playing beside her. She was immersed in the joy it brought her, constantly scrolling through all sorts of entertaining videos and messages. However, just as she was enjoying herself on Douyin (TikTok), her phone suddenly soared into the air, as if snatched away by invisible hands. Panicked, she tried to grab the phone, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach the small square dancing in the air.
"Ah... don't go, my cell phone." She shouted nervously in her dream and woke up suddenly.
"Princess, what's wrong?" Dong'er heard the voice and hurried over to ask with concern.
"Wow...my cell phone." Chu Xiyue said with tears in her eyes, feeling aggrieved.
"What is a mobile phone?" Dong'er asked in confusion, after all, she had never heard of this word.
Chu Xiyue looked at Dong'er in bewilderment, thinking: This is ancient times, where would a cell phone come from? So, she smiled bitterly, shook her head, and said, "It's okay, it was just a dream."
Seeing that Chu Xiyue didn't want to say more, Dong'er stopped asking and gently covered her with a blanket, saying, "Princess, please sleep a little longer."
Chu Xiyue nodded, closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep again, but the flying phone kept appearing in her mind, making her feel lost.
"Forget it, I'm not going to sleep anymore. I can't sleep anymore." Chu Xiyue tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep no matter how hard she tried. Finally, she decided to get up and stop trying to force herself to sleep.
Dong'er had been waiting by the side, and when she saw Chu Xiyue stand up, she immediately came over to help. She gently combed Chu Xiyue's hair, making it neat and beautiful.
Chu Xiyue sat in front of the mirror, her thoughts gradually becoming clearer. She recalled her previous dream and muttered to herself, "Dong'er, I know why I had that dream. It must have been just too boring. Life in the ancient times, without cell phones or TV shows to watch, was so hard to kill time."
After hearing this, Dong'er suggested, "How about Dong'er accompany the princess for a walk?"
Chu Xiyue shook her head and replied, "I don't want to go. I'll just end up in the palace after wandering around. It's boring."
Dong'er thought for a moment and added, "But the prince might not let us leave the palace. After all, there are many dangers outside."
But Dong'er suddenly remembered something, her eyes lit up, and she said excitedly, "How about Princess, let's continue with the thing we played last time at the Lin Mansion, the one called... something?"
Chu Xiyue quickly replied: "That's called a shuttlecock, but that's not very fun either."
Chu Xiyue frowned slightly, lost in deep thought. She tried to recall the various games she had played before, and suddenly, her eyes lit up and she shouted excitedly, "Got it! We can play cards!"
Dong'er heard Chu Xiyue's words and asked in confusion: "What are playing cards? Why have I never heard of them?"
Chu Xiyue excitedly explained to Dong'er, "Cards are a very interesting game that can be played with multiple people. Its rules are simple to understand, yet full of strategy and skill, making it impossible to stop."
After listening to Chu Xiyue's introduction, Dong'er showed a curious expression on her face and couldn't wait to say, "It sounds interesting, let's try it!"
Chu Xiyue nodded and said with a smile, "Okay, but first we have to make a deck of cards." As she spoke, she began to look for paper suitable for making cards.
After searching for a while, Chu Xiyue finally found some paper, but she found it was too thin to be used for playing cards. So, she turned to Dong'er and said, "Dong'er, this paper is too thin to be used for playing cards. Do you know if there is any thicker paper in the mansion?"
Dong'er thought for a moment and replied, "Well... maybe that kind of paper is only found in the prince's study."
Chu Xiyue heard this and said excitedly, "Well, let's go to Ice Face's study now. Maybe we can find the right paper."
After saying that, she took Dong'er's hand and walked towards Xiao Yichen's study.
