The weak prince's queen
Chapter 23: The Palace is Decorated with Lanterns
In the past two days, Chu Xiyue has been taking care of Dong'er with all her heart. She has been working day and night and has not even left the room. Seeing Dong'er's wounds slowly healing, she began to relax.
Finally, Chu Xiyue decided to walk out of the room, go for a walk in the garden and breathe some fresh air.
She strolled along the garden path, feeling more relaxed. However, when she looked up, she saw lights and decorations everywhere, as if foreshadowing a grand event to come.
Chu Xiyue walked, emptying herself, her thoughts gradually drifting away. Just then, a familiar voice broke her tranquility.
"Xue'er..." Master Lin suddenly appeared in front of Chu Xiyue.
Chu Xiyue was not used to this name for a while, so she was stunned for a moment, and it took her a while to react.
"Xue'er, come here, your father has something to tell you." Seeing that she didn't respond, Master Lin added.
Chu Xiyue frowned and replied in a cold tone: "I have nothing to say to you. I still have to go back to take care of Dong'er." After that, she turned around and was about to leave.
"Yes, I know you are resentful, but there is nothing I can do. This is a marriage granted by the emperor." Master Lin explained hurriedly.
"Okay, go ahead and see what else you can say." Chu Xiyue saw that Mr. Lin's tone had finally calmed down a little, and she wanted to hear what he had to say.
Master Lin took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and slowly said, "Prince Jin will come to pick up the bride in two days. Do you have any requests? I will do my best to agree to them."
Hearing this, Chu Xiyue couldn't help but laugh out loud, and said sarcastically: "Why? It's like a final farewell."
Master Lin's face darkened and he scolded, "How can you speak like that, kid?"
Chu Xiyue shrugged disapprovingly and continued, "Isn't that right? Since you've already decided to abandon me, why bother asking for my opinion hypocritically?"
Master Lin sighed helplessly and said, "Xue'er, Dad has no choice."
Chu Xiyue sneered and said, "You had no choice? Humph, that's ridiculous! You only married me to that prince for your own benefit."
Master Lin was silent for a moment, then said, "Xue'er, don't blame Dad. Dad is also thinking about the entire Lin family."
A disdainful smile appeared on Chu Xiyue's lips. She rolled her eyes without any concealment and said in a cold tone: "For the Lin family? Then why don't you marry your daughter Yun'er off?" Her eyes were as sharp as a knife, staring straight at Master Lin, as if she wanted to see through their hearts.
Master Lin was speechless at her question, a trace of embarrassment and helplessness flashed across his face. He opened his mouth, but found that he could not refute. He sighed deeply and could only shake his head helplessly, his heart filled with bitterness and helplessness.
Chu Xiyue looked at Master Lin's reaction, sneered, and continued: "I tell you the truth, I am willing to marry him not because of your entire Lin family, and even less because of you. I just want to leave here, away from you selfish people, away from this dirty place. Maybe the prince is really sick, but I believe that even so, it will be much better than staying with you." Her voice was firm and powerful, and her eyes flashed with determination.
After hearing what she said, Master Lin was so angry that he trembled all over. He pointed at Chu Xiyue angrily and shouted, "You...you unfilial daughter, you are really going to make your father die of madness!" His face turned red and his eyes were full of anger.
However, Chu Xiyue was not affected by his anger. She looked at Master Lin indifferently and said calmly: "Okay, stop calling yourself a father. You are not worthy of being a father. By the way, Dong'er must go into the palace with me. You'd better not play any tricks, otherwise I don't mind completely messing up this marriage!" Her words were full of threats and warnings, which made people dare not ignore them.
After saying that, Chu Xiyue turned around and left without hesitation, leaving Master Lin sitting alone on the stone bench, with a sad face and sighing constantly.
Chu Xiyue trotted back to the room. She opened the door carefully, afraid of waking Dong'er, but the sound of opening the door still woke Dong'er up from her sleep.
"Miss, where have you been? Why are you back so late?" Dong'er rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked with concern.
"I went for a walk in the garden, and then I saw a dog barking, so I started arguing with it." Chu Xiyue answered with a relaxed look.
"Ah? When did a dog appear in the garden? Miss, are you okay? Were you not bitten by the dog? Don't do this again next time. It's too dangerous!" Dong'er said worriedly.
"Haha... don't worry, what can happen to me? But the dog was really fierce and almost bit me." Chu Xiyue pretended to be terrified and patted her chest.
"Oh, I was scared to death. Fortunately, you are okay, miss. Be careful next time and don't provoke those ferocious animals again." Dong'er breathed a sigh of relief and reminded.
"I know. I will pay attention next time." Chu Xiyue smiled and comforted Dong'er.
