The weak prince's queen

Chapter 17: Recuperation in the Room

"Doctor, how is my daughter's injury?" Mr. Lin looked at his daughter on the bed nervously and asked with concern.

"Your Excellency, the young lady's injury is not serious. It is just a skin injury. She needs to rest well and recuperate. Be careful not to let the wound come into contact with water to avoid further injury. She will be able to heal in a few days." The doctor answered seriously.

"Will the little girl be left with a scar on her back?" Mr. Lin asked worriedly.

"Your Excellency, the young lady's wound is not too deep. As long as she continues to apply the ointment I prescribed, there should be no scars. But you still need to pay attention to protecting the wound." The doctor explained patiently.

"That's good, that's good. Come, send the doctor out." Master Lin breathed a sigh of relief and ordered his servants to send the doctor away.

After Master Lin sent the doctor away, he turned around and saw his daughter still lying on the bed. Master Lin instructed Dong'er again: "Dong'er, you must take good care of the young lady. Follow the doctor's instructions and feed and change the medicine on time. If there are any changes in the young lady's condition, you must tell me in time. If anything goes wrong, you will be the only one to be held accountable."

"Yes, sir." Dong'er replied respectfully.

Chu Xiyue still lay quietly on the bed, without responding to her father's words.

Mr. Lin looked at his daughter's back, sighed, turned and left the room.

"Miss, does it still hurt?" Dong'er couldn't wait to rush to Chu Xiyue and asked with concern after seeing Master Lin leave.

"Ouch...you are so strong, little girl!" Chu Xiyue couldn't help but scream out, her expression a little painful.

"Ah? Miss, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Dong'er was so scared when she heard Chu Xiyue's scream that she quickly jumped away, her face full of apology.

"Haha... Look how scared you are. I was just kidding. I'm fine." Chu Xiyue couldn't help laughing when she saw Dong'er's nervous look, and then said to her with a grin.

"Miss...you...really scared Dong'er to death. I'd better go and make some medicine for you." Dong'er shook her head helplessly, turned around and walked out of the room.

At the same time, Mo Feng was reporting the situation to Xiao Yichen in the study.

"Your Highness, I feel that the Lin Mansion is very strange. It was clearly the young lady of the Lin Mansion who was beaten that day." Mo Feng frowned and said in confusion.

"So what? Isn't this kind of thing very common? The biological mother of the eldest daughter of the Lin family has passed away, and now Mrs. Lin has her own children. Do you think she will still tolerate the eldest daughter?" Xiao Yichen's tone was cold, and there was a hint of disdain in his eyes.

"Then Your Highness, if you marry an unfavored eldest daughter, wouldn't that be of no help to you in the court?" Mo Feng asked doubtfully. He really couldn't understand why his prince would agree to such a marriage.

"This was originally arranged by that person, it's hard to refuse." Xiao Yichen frowned and said helplessly. He knew in his heart that this marriage was not what he wanted, but he couldn't refuse.

"What if Miss Lin was sent by them to keep an eye on the prince?" Mo Feng said worriedly. He always felt that the new princess was a little suspicious.

"In short, as long as she behaves herself and doesn't cross that line, she can keep her life. Otherwise, don't blame me." Xiao Yichen's eyes flashed with a coldness, and his tone was icy. He would not easily let go of anyone who threatened him.

"Yes, I understand, Your Highness." Mo Feng nodded in response. He understood what his prince meant. If Miss Lin really had any intentions, then a tragic end would be waiting for her.

At this time, footsteps were heard outside the door, and then Dong'er walked in.

"Miss, the medicine is here." Dong'er walked in with a bowl of steaming medicine and placed it carefully on the table.

"Oh... can I not drink it?" Chu Xiyue saw the bowl of black medicine and immediately looked disgusted. She hated taking medicine since she was a child and always found it difficult to swallow.

"No, miss, the doctor said you must take the medicine." Dong'er shook her head firmly. She knew the miss's physical condition very well and knew that she had to take the medicine.

"But I don't want to take medicine..." Chu Xiyue frowned and looked at Dong'er pitifully.

"You're just like our young lady in that you don't want to take medicine. It's okay. Dong'er has prepared it for you. Look, this is candied fruit. It won't be bitter if you eat it after taking the medicine." Dong'er said with a smile.

Chu Xiyue looked at the medicine and candied fruit before her, feeling a warm warmth in her heart. Dong'er was so thoughtful and considerate. Although she still didn't want to drink the medicine, seeing Dong'er's enthusiasm in preparing the candied fruit made her decide to give it a try. So, she reached out, took the bowl, took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and drank the bitter medicine in one gulp.

Seeing that Chu Xiyue had finished drinking the medicine, Dong'er quickly picked up a candied fruit from the plate and stuffed it into her mouth. Chu Xiyue tasted the sweetness of the candied fruit and immediately felt that the bitterness in her mouth was much lessened.

"Thank you Dong'er, it's not bitter at all." Chu Xiyue smiled gratefully at Dong'er, and her mood became cheerful.

"It's okay. Come here, miss. I'll apply medicine on your back. Just bear with it." Dong'er said with concern.

Chu Xiyue lay on the bed, feeling Dong'er's gentle movements. She knew that the wound on her back needed to be treated promptly, otherwise it might become infected and worsen. So despite the pain, she gritted her teeth and persevered, hoping to recover quickly.

Dong'er carefully lifted Chu Xiyue's clothes and gently applied the ointment to her back. Each touch stung Chu Xiyue, but she gritted her teeth and endured it, not uttering a single moan. She knew Dong'er had tried to be gentle, and that this was a necessary step in healing the wound.

As time went by, Chu Xiyue gradually felt the effects of the medicine. Her back began to heat up, as if a warm current was flowing through it. This feeling made her feel at ease, because she knew it meant the medicine was taking effect and the wound was gradually healing.

Perhaps it was the comfort brought by the medicine, or perhaps it was the physical exhaustion, but Chu Xiyue slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep. Her breathing became steady and deep, and a peaceful expression appeared on her face.

Dong'er noticed that Chu Xiyue had fallen asleep. She stopped what she was doing and looked at her quietly. A wave of pity welled up in her heart, and she whispered softly, "Miss, have a good rest. I hope you will recover soon." Then, she gently covered Chu Xiyue with the quilt and left the room, leaving her to sleep peacefully.
