Depressed wife runs with the ball

Chapter 10: No Visitors Received

"It's so boring." He held the wine glass and observed the light reflected from the lamp through the glass.

"That means you don't like her." Su Weikai also felt bored and wanted to hear him talk about whether the overseas returnee girl named Xinxin was pretty. After hearing what he said, he completely lost interest.

"Hey, you said that you've only dated one girl in all these years, and that was when you were studying abroad. You haven't been waiting for someone all these years, have you?" Li Weizheng always felt that according to his conditions, the girls around him should change constantly.

"Oh my, is it possible that you are waiting for Jiahui?" Su Weikai raised his wine glass with an expression that said, "I understand everything."

Li Weizheng agreed with this statement. The two of them pointed at each other, looking as if they understood, and cheered each other on.

When the Xinghui project was handed over to Li Xiaosu at work on Monday, Chu Yue thought that he would no longer have any connection with Xinghui.

The firm is actually not that big, with only seven or eight designers and two or three business departments. Together with finance, administration and other departments, there are about twenty people in total.

Chu Yue and Uncle Jia were both veterans who had been there since the firm was first established. They were considered partners and had their own offices. Later, they hired Zhang Jianing and gave her an independent office. The finance department also had an independent office, and the rest of the people sat in the lobby.

Although Chu Yue's office is an independent one, most of her painting materials are piled there. She doesn't like to communicate with others, so she puts many green plants and Lego figures on her desk. There is a cork board hanging on the wall with many design drawings and many of her paintings pinned on it.

When there are too many things, things look messy, so she often stays in that office chair to work on her designs. If someone comes to look for her, they may not notice she is there unless they look carefully.

There are unfinished oil paintings on the easel, and there are a lot of paints in a small cart next to it. Any designer who needs them can come in and get them.

Two days after returning to peace, Lao Ji came into her office looking for someone. He came up to her desk and said excitedly, "Hey, Yueyue, guess whose bidding qualification we got?"

Getting the qualification to bid means being busy. The bigger the bid, the busier you are. The more famous the client is, the more picky they are, and the more things there are to do. She doesn't think this is good news.

She glanced at him unhappily from across the screen.

"Who cares? I don't want to work overtime."

"Tsk, as a partner, how can you not be enthusiastic about the firm's performance?"

"It's so funny, cattle and horses can still be enthusiastic about capitalists."

"Your mortgage, a bunch of people in the office, all of these things cost money. It's not easy to get the order now." He sat there and complained.

"I didn't stop you from answering the phone, so what does it have to do with me?" Chu Yue looked at his expression and thought that he was probably going to ask her to go out and meet clients again.

"Xinghui Group, the graphic advertising design for the next three years, and Zhou Xingzhi will personally lead a team to inspect us." Ji Yan looked excited and couldn't wait to tell her the good news.

This lousy firm, with so few people, what's there to inspect? Look for flaws? So I can eliminate them from the bidding pool?

"Old Ji, when will you be able to pick your clients? We're all eating shit anyway, so why do you have to pick the biggest ones?"

Three years of experience in advertising design, as if that's no big deal.

Before Ji Yan could refute her, Zhang Jianing pushed open the door and said to Chu Yue in a flattering tone, "Yueyue, didn't Xinghui sign a supplementary agreement with us? It includes the overseas direct stores. You speak English best, so I'd like you to translate the information. Is that okay?"

Chu Yue stood up, took the information, flipped through a few pages, and agreed: "Okay, I'll translate it and send it to you."

"Oh, President Ji is here too. That's perfect. We've completed the Xinghui order, so shouldn't we go celebrate?" Seeing Ji Yan sitting there, Zhang Jianing quickly stepped forward to take credit.

"Okay, you pick a place and we can have dinner together tonight." Ji Yan was also straightforward.

"Okay, thank you, President Ji." Zhang Jianing received the order and hurried out to tell everyone the good news.

"Let's go together tonight, Yueyue." Ji Yan called the cold beauty.

Chu Yue looked at the WeChat message from her mother on her phone and replied without even looking up: "You guys go ahead, I have something to do tonight."

Her mother, Huang Yunfu, sent her a message: "Let's have dinner together tonight. We have something important to discuss."

She hadn't been home for a long time. She was admitted to university on an early basis and returned to the Chu family once after attending her grandmother's funeral. After that, she rarely went back. She would occasionally send some messages on WeChat, and would have a meal out with them on holidays.

[Address.] She replied.

"Could it be that Guo Tongchu from Environmental Arts? Yueyue, you were the most popular girl in the academy back then, so why did you have to hang yourself on a tree? What's so good about Guo Tongchu? He's had so many girlfriends, but you're still devoted to him. Shen Yaolin is already married, so it's time for you to get a boyfriend."

Ji Yan wanted to get closer to her to see who she was messaging.

"Are you sick? Why are you mentioning Shen Yaolin? I have nothing to do with him." Chu Yue frowned. Every time Shen Yaolin was mentioned, nothing good would happen.

"Ah, okay, okay, I won't mention it. But that person from Xinghui is coming, so you have to clean up this place. It's like a warehouse." Seeing that no one was paying attention, Lao Ji had to tell her to pay attention to the superficial hospitality.

After Ji Yan left, Chu Yue printed a few black words on an A4 sheet of paper: "No Visitors Allowed" and posted it on the door of his office.

In the evening, she rushed to the place where her parents had agreed to meet. It didn't look cheap, and the rooms were all private, so it was very private. Dining had never been so mysterious before, so Chu Yue just felt a little strange.

When Xin Jiahui came in, she accidentally bumped into her in the corridor. She was in a daze, and apologized to her with a hearty laugh. She just nodded, took out her mobile phone and looked again at the name of the private room that Huang Yunfu sent her.

Zhou Xingzhi was waiting at the door of the box to pick up Xin Jiahui. When he saw Chu Yue in the corridor, his pupils shrank unconsciously, and then instantly became cold again. He guessed that she probably had an appointment with her senior brother.

Chu Yue also noticed him, but did not go over to say hello. She walked past him and went straight into the box where her parents had agreed to meet.

Xin Jiahui's charming and well-behaved female voice came from behind: "Brother Xingzhi, why are you waiting here?"

After closing the door of the private room, it seemed even more strange that only Chu Jie'an and his wife were sitting at the large dining table.

"Why did you choose such a place? Just the three of us? What do you want to discuss?" Although she couldn't be intimate with them, she was trying her best to ease the relationship.

"Yueyue, come and sit down first." Huang Yunfu was still the good guy. She handed over a candied date first, and then Chu Jie'an slapped her. This was a tactic the couple had used for many years.

Chu Yue looked at Chu Jie'an. He didn't say anything, but his brows were furrowed, as if he had encountered some difficulties.

"Yueyue, has your work been going well recently? If you ask me, it would be better for you to go back to your family company to help out. With your dad and I around, you won't have more freedom than working in someone else's company, right?" Huang Yunfu continued to hand out candied dates.

"You don't even know how to greet people when you meet them. You're so petty. No wonder no one has been interested in you for so many years." Chu Jie'an finally spoke, but besides the usual disdain in his eyes when he looked at her, there was also a hint of complexity that Chu Yue didn't understand.

"Dad, Mom." She sat down expressionlessly, picked up her chopsticks, and poured herself tea.

Huang Yunfu kicked her husband secretly under the table and made a dissatisfied and condemning sound: Tsk.

"Don't worry about your dad, he cares about you too. How is it? Have you got a boyfriend recently? What are his conditions? Yueyue, although we don't care about you much, we have raised you to this age after all. Dating and getting married are big things after all, and your dad and I should still take a look at them." She was serving chicken soup and trying to get close to her.

"Aren't it my grandparents who raised me? What does it have to do with you?" She just lowered her head to eat, not wanting to look at them any more.

"You!" Chu Jie'an was so angry that he wanted to slam the table, but was stopped by Huang Yunfu.

"Yueyue, don't say that. We are a family after all. There is no overnight grudge. Come, try this chicken soup." Huang Yunfu passed the bowl of chicken soup to Chu Yue.

"Didn't you say you had something important to discuss? Go ahead."

"Uh... don't be in a hurry. Let's eat first and drink some chicken soup." Huang Yunfu raised her hand to point to the bowl of chicken soup in front of her.

Chu Yue took it off the turntable and took a sip with a ceramic spoon.
