Heart Stealer

Chapter 7 High Hopes

Qiu Rongyao, who is over 50 years old this year, and his wife Qiu opened a local snack restaurant on University Road when they were young.

With its superior geographical location and affordable prices, their shop has attracted many diners and won a good reputation.

The business of Qiu Rongyao and his wife is getting more and more prosperous, and they are constantly expanding their business scope.

They opened several restaurant chains in the bustling areas of the city, and their business is still booming and making a lot of money.

As his wealth accumulated, Qiu Rongyao's ambition grew stronger.

He co-founded a company with a group of like-minded friends and invested in the construction of a 30-story Jindu Hotel in the city center.

At present, the hotel has not yet opened, but various preparations are proceeding in an orderly manner.

Qiu Rongyao's career is booming and his family is happy. Logically, he should not have any worries.

Qiu Rongyao has three beautiful daughters. His second daughter Qiu Feng and third daughter Qiu Yu are well-behaved and obedient, but his eldest daughter Qiu Xue gives him a lot of worries.

Qiu Rongyao is the eldest in the family, and Qiu Xue is the first granddaughter in the family, and is loved by her grandparents.

Qiu Rongyao and Mrs. Qiu became parents for the first time, and they loved Qiu Xue very much.

Whatever their daughter wants, they will satisfy her without hesitation.

This excessive pampering made Qiu Xue gradually develop a spoiled character, and when she grew up, her temper became even more stubborn.

Qiu Rongyao felt very regretful when she saw the changes in her eldest daughter.

He deeply reflected on his own educational methods and realized that his pampering of Qiu Xue had turned into spoiling.

In order to avoid repeating the same mistakes, he decided to use his eldest daughter as a negative example and strictly discipline his second daughter Qiufeng and third daughter Qiuyu.

Fortunately, both little daughters are very sensible and well-behaved.

They excel in school and consistently rank among the top students.

Qiufeng is currently a sophomore in another province, while Qiuyu is a senior living on campus. Both of them are excellent students with both good character and good academic performance.

Qiu Rongyao still has high hopes for his eldest daughter Qiu Xue.

He hoped that she would recognize her responsibilities and obligations, return home after graduating from college, and devote herself to the family business.

Qiu Xue seemed to be indifferent to her father's expectations. She continued to do her own thing and live the life she wanted.

On a sunny afternoon, Qiu Rongyao sat quietly in the study.

The sunlight came through the window and fell on his face like a golden veil.

He stared at the mountain of family business documents on the table, and his thoughts involuntarily drifted to his eldest daughter Qiu Xue.

Ever since my eldest daughter graduated from college, she has been unemployed at home.

She spends all day with her boyfriend Dingpu, enjoying a carefree time and is indifferent to the affairs of the family business.

Qiu Rongyao stood up, slowly walked to the window, and looked at the beautiful garden outside the window.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and admired the flowers blooming in the garden. The picturesque scenery made him feel a little relieved.

He turned around and walked back to the desk with steady steps. He gently picked up the phone on the table and dialed his eldest daughter Qiuxue's number with trembling fingers.

Qiu Xue's lazy voice came from the other end of the phone, as if she was still immersed in a sweet dream.

Qiu Rongyao felt helpless. He took a deep breath and said slowly, "Qiu Xue, Dad hopes you can come back as soon as possible and take good care of the family business. Don't waste your time anymore."

Qiu Xue didn't care about what her father said. She yawned, stretched, and responded nonchalantly: "Dad, I don't want to go to work yet. I want to play for a few days."

Qiu Rongyao frowned as he listened to his daughter's answer.

He held the phone tightly and said in a serious tone: "Qiu Xue, the family business needs your responsibility and hard work. You can't go on like this."

Qiu Xue seemed frightened by her father's tone. She was silent for a moment, then said softly, "Dad, I understand. I'll think about it."

At night, Qiu Rongyao lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

Mrs. Qiu noticed her husband's strangeness and asked softly, "Husband, what's bothering you?"

Qiu Rongyao sighed and sat up, his eyes revealing deep worry.

"I was reading the news online today and saw that XX was being abused. Thinking of our three daughters, I couldn't sleep at night. Especially our eldest daughter, Qiuxue, who has the worst temper. I'm always worried that she won't be able to control her mouth after she gets married and will suffer."

After hearing this, Mrs. Qiu gently took Qiu Rongyao's hand and comforted him, "Husband, since you are so worried about Qiu Xue, how about we find a son-in-law for Qiu Xue?"

"That's exactly what I meant." Qiu Rongyao nodded.

"Honey, I'll talk to Qiu Xue tomorrow and ask Ding Pu to come to our house." A hint of anticipation flashed in Mrs. Qiu's eyes.

Qiu Rongyao got angry when he heard about Ding Pu. He said dissatisfiedly, "Anyone can be my son-in-law, except Ding Pu. Ding Pu is idle all day long, lazy and greedy. You let Qiu Xue and him starve to death."

The air between them seemed to freeze. Qiu Rongyao's face turned ashen, his brows furrowed.

Mrs. Qiu had a worried look on her face, her hands clenched tightly together.

After a while, Mrs. Qiu asked in a trembling and weak voice, "Husband, what do you say we should do?"

Rong Yao took a deep breath, trying to calm his inner anger.

He looked at Mrs. Qiu and said firmly, "Tell Qiuxue to learn how to manage the family business. Start from the grassroots level and let her work at the restaurant on University Road."

When Mrs. Qiu heard this, her face turned pale instantly. She widened her eyes and looked at Qiu Rongyao in disbelief.

"Hubby, are you crazy? Our daughter has everything provided for her at home. If you ask her to work in a store, will she be willing to go?"

Qiu Rongyao's eyes were extremely firm, and he said seriously without giving in, "It's precisely because we have spoiled Qiu Xue too much since she was a child that I want her to learn.

Madam, you have to persuade Qiuxue to go to work. If she doesn't go to work, I will stop transferring money to her bank card and even kick her out of the house. I think this is the only way to cure Qiuxue."

Mrs. Qiu knew she couldn't stop her husband and could only cry silently.

The next morning, Mrs. Qiu gently opened the door of her daughter's room.

She tiptoed to the bedside, patted Qiuxue's shoulder gently, and said softly: "Qiuxue, it's time to get up."

Qiuxue turned over, looked at her mother with sleepy eyes, and mumbled, "Mom, let me sleep a little longer."

Mrs. Qiu smiled helplessly, sat down beside the bed, took Qiuxue's hand, and advised earnestly: "Qiuxue, your father hopes that you will go to work in the store. This will give you some exercise."

When Qiuxue heard this, she immediately sat up, widened her eyes, and said to her mother coquettishly, "Mom, I'm so delicate and tender, how can I do the rough work in a restaurant!" As she said this, she shook her hands.

Mrs. Qiu frowned and said seriously, "Qiuxue, you've grown up. You can't always be so spoiled. If you don't go to work, your father will take back your bank card and even kick you out of the house."

Qiu Xue's face turned ugly after hearing this. She bit her lip, hesitated for a moment, and finally compromised. She said reluctantly, "Okay, Mom, I'll go to work in the store."

Mrs. Qiu looked at her daughter, smiled with satisfaction, and said, "That's what a good child is. Hurry up and get up, wash up, and then we'll go to the store together."

The next morning, the first ray of sunlight shone through the gap in the curtains onto Qiuxue's bed.

She stretched, slowly sat up, then quickly washed up and put on the exquisite suit she had carefully selected.

This outfit is simple yet elegant, making Qiu Xue look even more beautiful and charming.

Qiu Xue was very satisfied with her outfit today. She walked out with brisk steps and headed towards the restaurant on University Road.

As soon as she entered the store, the store manager came to greet her and quickly explained the day's work tasks to Qiu Xue: washing dishes, mopping the floor, and serving food to the customers.

These tasks seem simple, but they are not easy to do.

Qiu Xue gritted her teeth and began to work hard.

Qiuxue had worked half a day at the store. She felt a sharp pain in her back and waist, and her legs felt heavy as if they were filled with lead.

Looking at the piles of dishes in front of her and the floor that had not yet been mopped, Qiu Xue couldn't help but feel like backing out.

She suddenly had an idea and found an excuse to run away from the store.

After leaving the store, Qiu Xue took a taxi back home. As soon as she entered the house, she ran into her father, Qiu Rongyao.

Seeing her daughter come back so early, Qiu Rongyao asked with a puzzled look on her face, "Qiu Xue, why did you get off work so early today?"

Qiu Xue's heart tightened, her eyes rolled, and she quickly lied: "Dad, I wasn't feeling well, so I came back early."

Qiu Rongyao frowned after hearing this, but looking at his daughter's pale face, he didn't ask any more questions.

In the next few days, Qiu Xue always came up with all kinds of strange reasons to avoid going to work.

Sometimes she said she had a cold and a fever, and sometimes she said she accidentally twisted her foot.

This made Qiu Rongyao very worried. He felt sorry for his daughter, but was also worried that this would affect her future development.

However, the couple really had no way to deal with their willful daughter, neither beating her nor scolding her.

On this day, the sun was exceptionally bright and the sky was clear blue with no clouds in sight.

Mrs. Qiu opened the window and felt the fresh air and warm sunshine.

When she turned and walked into the living room, she was surprised to find Qiu Xue was at home, a rare sight.

I saw Qiuxue lying lazily on the sofa, wearing a loose pajamas, with her hair tied casually behind her head, looking a little messy.

She ate snacks leisurely while staring at the TV screen intently, with a look of fatigue on her face.

"Qiuxue, now is the season for viewing peach blossoms in Xiushan. Our company is planning to organize a spring outing for employees of the restaurant chain to Xiushan this weekend. Would you like to lead the team?" Mrs. Qiu walked to Qiuxue and patted her shoulder gently.

Qiu Xue stared at the TV and replied impatiently, "Mom, I've already made an appointment with Ding Pu to go to Universal Studios to watch a movie this weekend."

"The Jindu Hotel hasn't officially opened yet. Your father and I are very busy and can't spare the time. Besides, we are old and there is a generation gap between us and the young people. Only you are the most suitable person to lead the team." Mrs. Qiu sat down next to Qiu Xue, took her hand, and said earnestly.

"Mom, I can lead the team, but you have to agree to one condition of mine." Qiu Xue blinked and made a naughty face.

"What conditions?" Mrs. Qiu turned to look at Qiu Xue and asked in confusion.

"I've set my eyes on a XX handbag. I'll agree if you buy it for me." Qiu Xue shook Mrs. Qiu's hand and began to act coquettishly and put forward conditions.

Mrs. Qiu was unmoved and asked in a reproachful tone, "Qiuxue, didn't you just buy a handbag the week before last?"

After hearing what her mother said, Qiu Xue frowned and pouted in dissatisfaction: "That's an old model.

Mrs. Qiu couldn't help but sigh when she saw her daughter's appearance.

She knew Qiu Xue had high material pursuits, but she was more worried about her daughter's future.

She tried to persuade her daughter: "Qiuxue, you have to learn to be frugal and stop thinking about buying new things. Your father's money didn't come from the wind."

Qiu Xue didn't seem to care about what her mother said. She just fiddled with her fingers impatiently and looked around, as if looking for other topics.

Mrs. Qiu had no choice but to say, "Okay, okay, this is the last time I'll buy it, but there won't be a next time. Your father will scold me to death if he finds out."

After hearing what her mother said, Qiuxue showed a smug smile on her face.

She walked to her mother, hugged her, and said coquettishly: "Mom, you are so good, you are the only one who loves me the most!"

Mrs. Qiu looked at her daughter's smiling face and her heart softened again.

No matter how willful her daughter is, she is always her treasure.

"Qiu Xue, when you lead the team, be nicer to both the old and new employees. They are our bread and butter."

Mrs. Qiu reminded that she hoped her daughter could learn to respect others and not always be self-centered.

When Qiu Xue heard what her mother said, a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes.

She fiddled with her fingers impatiently and pouted, "Mom, I know."

Qiuxue's mind had already flown to the weekend spring outing and the new XX handbag.
