Sheng Xiao Han Yu

Chapter 65 Big Tonic Soup

It rained heavily outside in the early morning. Hua Sheng had gone to bed very late last night, and he felt even more depressed when he heard the sound of rain in the morning.

"It's raining at a really bad time. I want to go out and play today." Xiaojuan said angrily as she lay down in bed.

Hua Sheng woke up on time with two panda eyes, opened her closet and looked for a thicker coat. It was already very hot when she arrived in Lincheng this year, so the servant uniform she was given was short-sleeved. Hua Sheng touched the clothes Ouyang Hanyu bought for her and was about to cry again.

"Hua Sheng, you don't have to get up so early today. It's raining and we can't go to the garden." Fangfang stretched and said to Hua Sheng while yawning.

"I can't sleep even lying in bed, I'm going to help in the kitchen." Hua Sheng took out a pair of washed-out jeans and put them on, then stood up to wash up. She originally wanted to help Fangfang clean, but she couldn't avoid Fangfang's place, so she went to help in the kitchen.

The kitchen is now preparing breakfast for the employees. Hua Sheng helps pick and wash vegetables. The chef on the stove is stewing soup, and the aroma is wafting in the air.

"Uncle, who is the soup for? Is anyone sick?" Hua Sheng wondered who would drink the nourishing soup in the morning since his uncle was not around.

"Assistant Mote called and said he would come to get it later. He said that the young master wanted it, but I don't know who he is giving it to. It needs to be stewed for a while. It will be soft and delicious and very nutritious. My soup is a specialty. I will let you try it when it is ready." Chef Uncle Wang praised his cooking skills to Hua Sheng. He is a very talkative uncle.

"It smells delicious, but I won't taste it. That's the soup for patients." Hua Sheng felt uncomfortable again. She would not drink the soup stewed for others.

Hua Sheng herself didn't notice that her mentality had changed a lot and she became a little bad-tempered.

"Such a diligent little girl must try my secret tonic soup. I won't let anyone else drink it. I'll save a bowl for you. You need to nourish yourself too. You're usually thin, and I think you've gotten even thinner these past couple of days. You can't lose weight, little girl. If you lose any more, you won't be cute anymore." Uncle Wang might have an occupational disease. Seeing Hua Sheng thin, he assumes she's not eating well to lose weight. That's not right. It's wrong for anyone to not eat to lose weight. What's the point of him studying recipes all day?

"I didn't lose weight." Hua Sheng said listlessly.

"You little girl said you didn't lose weight, but you didn't eat well last night. Or maybe the meals I cooked recently weren't worth a thousand. I have to study hard and come up with a new recipe before the young master comes back, otherwise I will lose my job." Uncle Wang was thinking about the new recipe. His work intensity here was not very high, and the salary was very high, so he couldn't lose this job.

"The food you cook now is very delicious, so you don't have to worry about losing your job. Besides, your main job is to cook for the eldest and young masters." Hua Sheng was so used to calling him uncle that he almost said it out loud that he quickly changed his words.

"Your opinions are very important. Even you don't like the food I cook, let alone the young master. Fortunately, the young master is not here these days. You must try the soup I made later and give me your suggestions." Uncle Wang always saw Hua Sheng eating a lot, but it seemed that he didn't eat much in the past few days, so he had a hard time eating last night's meal.

"Okay, I'll drink it." Hua Sheng said helplessly.

Everyone gathered around the table for a lively breakfast. Hua Sheng, though lacking an appetite, managed to eat as much as possible. Afterwards, she helped wash the dishes, hanging around in the kitchen because it was raining.

At ten o'clock, Uncle Wang served Hua Sheng a bowl of soup. He asked her to taste it. Hua Sheng looked at the milky white soup, which was filled with nourishing ingredients and tender pig's trotters. A closer look revealed a worm floating on top. He immediately put the spoonful into the bowl.

"What's wrong?" Uncle Wang asked Hua Sheng when he heard the noise.

"Uncle Wang, I told you not to worry." Hua Sheng stammered, with a strange expression on his face, not knowing what to say.

"You said it didn't taste good. But I tried it and it wasn't bad at all. Let me try it again." As he said that, he picked up Hua Sheng's spoon and was about to drink.

"Uncle, there's a bug in it and I haven't drunk it yet." Hua Sheng covered the bowl with one hand and said anxiously.

"Hahahahahahaha..." Uncle Wang laughed heartily.

"Uncle Wang, you are still laughing. Everyone has heard it." Hua Sheng said hurriedly.

"Take your hand away, let me see. Is this what you are talking about?" Uncle Wang scooped one up with a spoon, and there was another one on the milky white soup.

"Yeah." Hua Sheng suppressed his nausea and answered reluctantly.

"This is Cordyceps, a kind of grass that grows in cold places. It is a very nutritious food. It is not a bug, look!" Uncle Wang said with a smile, breaking the Cordyceps in the spoon.

"It's really not a bug, but it looks so similar." Hua Sheng breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much more at ease. She was also a little embarrassed because she knew a little about Cordyceps, but had never actually seen one, so she made a mistake.
