In order not to disturb the children in the village, this trip started before dawn.

The distant sky was just beginning to turn pale, and the entire Qingshan Villa was still immersed in a hazy morning mist. Only a few dim lanterns swayed gently in the cool breeze, casting mottled shadows. The occasional chirp of insects in the grass outside the courtyard wall further emphasized the silence of dawn.

Jing Chunxi had already been gently awakened by Hongfen and Chuntao. After washing up, he was now standing in the corridor.

Looking up at the deep night sky, the stars are sparse, and the moonlight flows like water on the bluestone road, casting a silvery white. The night wind blows through the treetops, making a rustling sound, as if whispering the sadness of parting.

Jing Chunxi felt a pang of reluctance. It would take a long time before he could return to this warm home.

My mother's figure was vaguely visible at the door. Aunt Mi and several maids were busy loading the cart with something, perhaps tea and cakes.

As he was being escorted out by his mother and Aunt Mi, he saw two carriages parked at the gate of the mansion. One, painted a shiny black with curtains embroidered with delicate patterns, belonged to Xu Zize, while the other belonged to his family, with a slate-gray, dirt-resistant carriage shed a faint luster in the moonlight.

The horses seemed to sense the tension of the impending departure, stamping their hooves and snorting heavily. Chuntao, Hongfen, and Xiaoman were already standing by the carriage, waiting.

Jing Chunxi searched the crowd but did not see Chuyi and Zhengyue, and a trace of doubt arose in his heart.

"Don't look anymore, the convoy is already waiting outside the manor." Jing Yi's voice came from behind him, low and steady. He was wearing a dark robe, and he looked particularly tall and straight in the morning light.

Seeing Jing Chunxi looking around, he frowned slightly, with a hint of helplessness in his tone: "If you delay any longer, it will be dawn soon."

"What about the first day of the new year and the first month of the lunar year?" Jing Chunxi turned around, her eyes filled with inquiry. She remembered that she had clearly told them to prepare early last night.

"They sit on the front shaft and have to learn how to drive too. They'll be useful when necessary. There's someone to guide them, so don't worry."

Jing Yi explained calmly, but his eyes fell on Jing Qiurong behind Jing Chunxi. Seeing her eyes slightly red, he understood and deliberately changed the subject, "Why don't you say goodbye to your mother quickly? Why are you worrying so much!"

Jing Chunxi finally came to his senses and turned around to throw himself into Jing Qiurong's arms. His mother's body was filled with the familiar scent of incense, warm and comforting.

She hugged Jing Qiurong tightly, her voice choked: "I should have slept with mother last night, but mother didn't even remind me." She rubbed her cheek against Jing Qiurong's shoulder, like when she was a child, as if this could make time stay longer.

"You were so careless when you were young, and now it's Mother's fault." Jing Qiurong gently stroked her daughter's hair, her eyes filled with affection. Her fingers trembled slightly, but she fought back tears. "Give your regards to Grandpa and Grandma on behalf of Mother and your brother. Be filial to them and be careful on your journey." Her voice was gentle yet firm, as if she could pour all her care into these few words.

"Alright, girl, let's get them on their way!" Jing Yi couldn't help but urge them on, seeing the two reluctant to leave. He walked over, gently patted Jing Chunxi's shoulder, and whispered, "Are you trying to make your mother cry?" His tone was stern, but a soft touch flickered in his eyes.

Jing Chunxi finally let go of her hand and turned to walk towards the carriage. Her steps were a little heavy, but she still forced a smile: "Mother Mi, Aunt Ziyi, Aunt Qingyi, and Tang Shuang, thank you for your hard work in taking care of mother at home." Several servants nodded. Tang Shuang's eyes were red, and she bit her lip to stop herself from crying out loud.

Jing Chunxi looked at Jing Yi again with pleading eyes: "Master, please keep an eye on Pu Ge'er for me." Jing Yi shook his head helplessly and pushed her gently: "Okay, don't dawdle, get in the car." Although his voice was stern, there was a hint of reluctance in his eyes.

Xu Zize had been standing by the carriage. When he saw Jing Chunxi approaching, he reached out and gently pulled her, leading her to the carriage in front. He then turned back and said to Chuntao and the others, "You guys sit in the back."

His tone was unquestionable, but his eyes fell gently on Jing Chunxi's face. He helped her into the carriage.

After the two of them sat down, Xu Zize waved out the window: "Aunt, don't worry! Third Uncle, we're leaving!" His voice was particularly clear in the morning breeze. Then, he nodded to the guards in front of him and said in a deep voice: "Let's go!"

The wheels turned slowly, rolling over the bluestone road with a dull sound. Jing Chunxi looked out the window and saw that the group of people at the gate of the mansion were still standing there, their eyes closely following the carriage.

My mother's figure looked particularly thin in the morning light. Aunt Mi and several maids stood behind her, their faces full of worry.

The moment the carriage turned out of the gate of Qingshan Villa, Jing Chunxi's vision blurred. She saw the corners of her mother's clothes fluttering gently in the wind. Aunt Mi raised her hand to wipe the corners of her eyes, and Tang Shuang finally couldn't hold back her tears. Jing Yi remained standing, his figure gradually becoming blurred in the morning mist.

She knew that after this separation, she didn't know when they would meet again. The sound of wheels gradually faded away, and the outline of Qingshan Villa gradually disappeared from her sight. Only the waning moon remained, still hanging quietly in the sky, witnessing this silent farewell.
