Bai Zhizhi and her friends had not walked far from the Fulai Inn when they saw a familiar little beggar.

Bai Zhizhi greeted her two brothers and went to an alley to wait.

Sure enough, not long after, the little beggar came over, staggering with his crutch.

Seeing Bai Zhizhi, the little beggar smiled widely and said, "Madam, I have news to tell you."

Bai Zhizhi took out a small bag of freshly packed snacks from her backpack and handed it to him before saying, "Did something happen at Mr. Wang's house?"

The little beggar took the snack carefully, put it in front of his nose to sniff the smell, and then stuffed it all into his arms with satisfaction.

"It's news from Mr. Wang's family. Mr. Wang has adopted a son and brought him back. I heard that Mr. Wang and Mrs. Wang had a quarrel."

Bai Zhizhi raised her eyebrows and smiled knowingly, "Any other news?"

The little beggar thought about it and then shook his head. "No, this is the biggest thing happening in their family right now. I heard there was a big commotion at home, so loud that we could hear it even from the alley, but I didn't dare go over to see."

Bai Zhizhi nodded, thought for a moment, and suddenly asked a different question, "Do you know anything about the county magistrate's family?"

"what?"

The little beggar looked at her doubtfully. Although he didn't understand why she suddenly asked about the county magistrate, he still thought about it carefully and said, "It seems that nothing is wrong with the county magistrate's family."

Bai Zhizhi thought for a moment before saying, "You don't have to talk about anything too important. Just tell me everything you know about the county magistrate's family."

The little beggar nodded thoughtfully, then picked out some of the more interesting things that were known in the county and told them.

"The area around the county magistrate's house is very strictly guarded and we are not allowed to wander around like this, so I don't know much. But I heard that the county magistrate's mother seems to be celebrating her birthday soon, and it should be very lively at that time. I should be able to go there then, and I will definitely inquire about the news."

The little beggar spoke very seriously, almost patting his chest to make a promise. He was very afraid that the lady in front of him would think he was useless and would not look for him anymore.

Bai Zhizhi smiled and said nothing. Instead, she stuffed a few copper coins into his hand and said, "It's okay. You continue to watch over Wang Yuanwai and tell me if you have any news."

The little beggar didn't dare to take the money, and asked cautiously, "My Lord, the County Magistrate, don't you want to see it?"

Bai Zhizhi shook her head. "No need. I'm just asking casually. Just look at Mr. Wang's addition."

She felt that she had already obtained important information and there was no need to pay too much attention to it. It would be bad if the county magistrate found out.

The little beggar then took the money and bowed respectfully, "Thank you, ma'am. Don't worry, I will definitely tell you when I have news."

After making sure that there was nothing else, the little beggar hid his belongings, leaned on his crutch, and held a small broken bowl, and slowly walked out of the alley.

As he walked, he knocked the ground with a small wooden stick, and shouted a few words of begging from time to time, all the way to Mr. Wang's house.

Bai Zhizhi waited for a while before coming out of the alley.

The two Zhou brothers were waiting for her not far away, and they also helped her keep an eye out for other people around.

Seeing Bai Zhizhi coming out, Zhou Changhe quickly waved his hand, "Third sister-in-law, we are here."

Bai Zhizhi quickly took two steps over and said nothing about what she had just seen with the little beggar. The two people were tactful and didn't ask.

After walking for a while, they were almost at the street where they were setting up their stall. Zhou Changjiang said, "It's still early. Why don't we set up the stall for a while longer?"

Zhou Changhe naturally had no objection. At times like this, he usually listened to his elder brother.

So the two of them looked at Bai Zhizhi together.

Bai Zhizhi was thinking about something, and when she heard what they said, she shook her head and said, "Let's not put it on display anymore. Let's go buy something."

"That's fine, the house really needs some more things."

The two older brothers didn't think there was anything wrong with it, after all, their third brother's wife often bought things for home.
