She swam through a strange, dark, hazy landscape, and silence filled her ears.

Lamia could see only ten feet in front of her, so with each stroke she made, a new scene suddenly emerged from the darkness ahead: a ripple, tangled jungle of black waterweed, a wide, flat expanse of mud and sand littered with glittering pebbles.

Lamia swam deeper and deeper, toward the center of the lake, her eyes wide open, staring through the gray, strange water to the dark shapes in the distance where the water was dark and hazy.

Little fish swam past him swiftly like silver darts, and once or twice she thought she saw something large moving ahead, but when she got closer she saw it was only a large black log or a thick, tangled mass of weeds.

There were no other warriors or merpeople in sight—and no giant squid, thankfully.

The visibility underwater was really bad. Lamia looked far away and saw a patch of emerald green water plants in front of her. It was two feet deep and looked like a very dense lawn.

She stared straight ahead, trying to make out the shapes in the shadows, when, completely off guard, something grabbed her ankle.

Lamia twisted her body wildly and saw a grindylow - a water monster with horns on its head. It poked its body out from the water plants, its long claws tightly grasping Lamia's legs, and its sharp fangs exposed in its mouth.

Lamia originally wanted to burn these ugly monsters to death with fire, but unfortunately, her magic did not work underwater, so she could only try her best to swim away to get rid of these annoying water monsters.

Lamia had just swam away for a distance when two more grindylows emerged from the water plants, grabbed her robe and tried to pull her down.

"Get out of here!" Lamia yelled, but no sound came out, only a large bubble came out of her mouth.

A bright purple light emanated from Lamia's fingertips and shot towards the entangled water monsters. The green skin on their bodies that were hit suddenly turned red.

Lamia freed her feet from Grindylow's entanglement and swam forward with all her might, occasionally emitting some light behind her.

Occasionally, she would feel a grindylow grab her foot again and kick it away with all her might.

Finally, Lamia felt her foot hit a horned head. Looking down, she saw a Grindylow that had been kicked unconscious, with its eyes wide open, floating downstream. Its companion waved its fist at Lamia and disappeared into the water plants.

Lamia slowed down, looked around, and listened carefully. She and Harry had been separated for a long time, but she still didn't find any information related to the project.

She knew she must be at the bottom of a very deep lake, but there was nothing moving around except water plants.

"How's your progress?"

Lamia thought she was having a heart attack. She whirled around and dimly saw Moaning Myrtle floating in front of him, looking at her through thick, pearly lenses.

"Myrtle!" Lamia only had a large bubble coming out of her mouth.

Moaning Myrtle actually giggled.

"You should try over there!" She pointed to the other side and said, "Although I won't like you, but... forget it, I still have to wait for Harry."

Lamia nodded in gratitude and set off again. This time she was careful to swim higher and away from the water plants to avoid being ambushed by Grindylow.

Lamia swam for at least another twenty minutes. The bottom of the water was now covered with large patches of black mud, and the lake was swirling with dark whirlpools because of her stirring. After a long time, she finally heard the mermaid's unforgettable song.

Only one hour.

To find and reclaim what we have taken...

Lamia swam faster, and soon she saw a large rock emerging from the murky water ahead. On it were painted images of many mermaids, holding spears in their hands, chasing something that looked like a giant squid. Lamia swam past the rock, following the mermaids' song.

...don't delay any longer, half the time has passed,

Lest what you seek rot here...

Suddenly, there appeared all around a number of rough stone dwellings, speckled with algae.

There were faces in those dark windows, faces that looked nothing like the mermaid in the painting in the prefect's bathroom...

The mermaid has iron-grey skin and long, shaggy, dark green hair.

Their eyes were yellow, their broken teeth were yellow too, and around their necks they wore pebbles strung on thick ropes, and they grinned maliciously at Lamia as she swam by.

In order to see more clearly, one or two people ran out of the cave, spears in their hands, and slapped the lake with their thick and powerful silver tails.
