Chapter 140 Cornelius Fudge (1)
Just when Lamia was in trouble, she suddenly saw Cornelius Fudge, the current Minister of Magic, peeking out of the window through the glass. If Lamia knew him, she must have seen him in the newspaper. She didn't expect to meet him in person here.
"Get down, Harry!" Lamia grabbed Harry, who was still drinking, and pressed him under the table.
"What happened?" Harry was a little surprised. His clothes on the chest were wet by the wine he had just drunk, and even the collar had some other colors.
"Shh." Lamia raised a finger, staring at Cornelius Fudge who was passing by the window without blinking. His eyes seemed to be searching for suspicious figures everywhere with a purpose, and his gaze would linger on every black-haired wizard for a few seconds.
In the end, he did not find Lamia and Harry who were hiding, but as if someone had informed on him, Cornelius walked towards another tavern. Obviously, he had information in his hands, and it was from the recent few days. So the disruptive letter she sent was probably of no use at all.
Lamia frowned. She shouldn't have agreed to go out with Harry. They were too conspicuous, especially walking together.
Although Lamia was not worried about any threat from the Ministry of Magic, she did not want Sirius to be arrested again. Moreover, Cornelius might pay attention to her because of Sirius - a non-human species that should not appear in the wizarding world.
Lamia had a feeling that Cornelius Fudge was not as kind as he looked, and in any case, she could not take the risk.
After about 5 minutes, Lamia was sure that Cornelius had walked into the pub before she pulled Harry up from the floor.
"Harry, you have to find Sirius now, and then you need to leave immediately." Lamia spoke casually, her eyes looking straight ahead as if nothing had happened, but her peripheral vision was secretly watching Cornelius Fudge walking around in another tavern.
Her and Harry's actions just now had attracted the attention of some wizards. Even though they were quick and careful, their particularly eye-catching looks meant that they were destined to live in the eyes of others.
Therefore, Lamia had to pretend that nothing had happened. Only in this way could their influence be minimized as much as possible.
"Ah? Why? The Godfather said to leave the space for us and he would go somewhere else." Harry picked up another reddish-brown cocktail. He had chosen this one specifically because it looked very similar to Lamia's eyes.
But it obviously didn't taste good. Harry felt a burning sensation in his mouth and couldn't help frowning.
"Someone from the Ministry of Magic is here." Lamia casually picked up the nearest goblet. The red liquid inside swayed with her movements, but did not overflow.
"Where is it?" Harry looked around warily, his eyes almost showing his guilty conscience.
"Don't look, we are dressed too conspicuously. We need to leave immediately." Lamia put down the cup gently, and while Cornelius Fudge was busy investigating, she pulled Harry quickly to the corner of the gate.
"Harry, take off your coat." Lamia bent down, her fair and smooth skin faintly visible, and Harry's face turned red. "Okay, okay." He stammered, took off the outer clothes and handed it to Lamia.
"Okay, now go and inform Sirius. After you two meet, don't come out again. I'll find you as for the others." Lamia draped Harry's coat over his head, covering his conspicuous silver hair.
"What about you?" Harry realized the urgency of the situation and was about to leave, but he couldn't help but look back.
"I have my own way. Don't worry. If you don't want Sirius to be caught again, just do as I say." Lamia pushed him out the door and walked in another direction.
Lamia saw Cornelius Fudge on the street almost immediately. He had already walked out of the tavern. His expression was not friendly, and it was obvious that he had experienced something unpleasant.
Lamia quickly hid behind the wall, narrowly avoiding Connelly's glance, and then, with a thought, she transformed into a bat, moving only in the shadows to hide her figure.
Lamia gradually approached, and she could already hear Connelly talking to his subordinates. When she reached this distance, Lamia stopped. She needed to find out who Connelly's spy was and get rid of him, otherwise they would never escape.
Cornelius Fudge: "Did you find it?" He adjusted his collar impatiently.
Subordinate: "No, there is no Harry Potter in the tavern."
"Useless things, where is Stan Shunpike? Get him out of here. Didn't he say that Harry Potter and Black were in this pub?" Connelly got angry at his subordinates. He had been walking for a long time, but not only did he not get any clues, he was vomited on by a group of drunks. Although he had cleaned up, Connelly still couldn't help feeling disgusted.
Lamia said nothing. Even though she was surprised that Sampak was the informer, she didn't make a sound.
Lamia also wanted to see what the person she had tortured into unconsciousness looked like now.
About 10 minutes later, Lamia saw Sampark running from a distance in the corner. He had a bandage on his head and his face was swollen beyond recognition. Lamia could not recognize that this man was the thin wizard from before.
"Mr. Fudge - listen to me, I can guarantee that the person you are looking for is definitely in Diagon Alley, the famous Harry Potter, how could I make a mistake." Shunpike's first sentence was to excuse himself. Of course he knew that Cornelius had escaped.
"Hmph, that's better. But we've been to all the taverns, but we didn't find the silver-haired witch you mentioned. Maybe you were confused in your sleep." Cornelius took a few steps back in disdain, putting some distance between himself and Sampark. He couldn't stand the stench of this wizard.
"Impossible, she must be here, I even saw Ern!" Sampark opened his eyes wide, filled with such strong hatred that even the usually cold-hearted Connelly was shocked for a moment.
"Sir, she is not a wizard, or rather, she is not even a human. You must find her, otherwise the entire wizarding world will face a catastrophe." Sampark's eyes were red, as if he was cursing.
"Shut up! With the wise leadership of the Ministry of Magic, how could there be a catastrophe?" The subordinate on the side found the right opportunity and slapped Sampark's cheek again, making him dizzy.
"Okay, okay, he's just a poor man. He's been beaten so badly. I'm not stupid, so how could I believe the words of a madman?" Connelly waved his hand, and the subordinates behind him retreated, but his eyes never left Sampark, as if he was ready to fight again.
