Seeing Ye Tang in danger, Yu Nian felt guilty beyond words.

If she hadn't relaxed when she saw the reinforcements arriving, the Yin Snake wouldn't have succeeded so easily.

She chanted the Heart Purification Mantra over and over again, hoping to help Yetang suppress his anger.

Yu Chao hurried over, took out a healing pill, and handed it to Yu Nian, "Daoyou, your injuries are also very serious, you should heal first."

Yu Nian shook his head and still stubbornly cast the Heart Purification Mantra.

"My apprentice is in danger, how can I have the mood to heal his wounds?"

"Don't worry, fellow Daoist, I have a way." Yu Chao held Yu Nian's wrist, took her aside, and instructed the Miao Dan Sect's medical practitioners: "Fellow Daoists of the Miao Dan Sect, please help heal the injured."

After saying that, Yu Chao walked back to Ye Tang with a sword in hand.

She stuck Duanxie into the soil, closed her eyes, raised her hand and made hand gestures.

"The Supreme Star is always ready to respond. He drives away evil spirits and protects lives and bodies."

As the incantation was recited, a string of strange golden runes appeared on Duanxie and surrounded Ye Tang.

Yu Chao suddenly opened his eyes, the magic formulas in his hands changed continuously, and his voice became sacred and solemn: "Wisdom is clear, the mind is at peace. The three souls are eternal, and the spirit is not lost."

The rune merged into Ye Tang's body. In just half an hour, the black energy rising from her body completely dissipated, and her breath returned to normal.

Yu Chao breathed a sigh of relief, put away his sword and stood up.

"This is a pure spirit that eliminates evil. It can bring people into tranquility, return to the heart of Tao, and enter a state of purity. At the same time, it also has the function of protecting the soul and guarding life. Gaozu is fine now."

After receiving treatment from the Miao Dan Sect's medical practitioners, Yu Nian had already recovered a great deal. She showed gratitude and clasped her fists towards Yu Chao, saying, "Thank you very much, fellow Daoist. I am Yu Nian. If you need anything in the future, I will definitely help you within my ability."

"My name is Yu Chao. Fellow Daoist, there's no need to be so polite." Yu Chao raised his hand to beckon Chu Mu over and prepared to leave. "I still need to take this person back to Linshui Mountain, so I won't stay any longer."

Yu Nian was a little curious: "Is this person also an evil cultivator? I see that his aura is pure and upright, he doesn't look like an evil cultivator."

Glancing at Chu Mu, Yu Chao explained, "This man's name is Chu Mu. He's not an evil cultivator. He was born in the city, alone and helpless, without a father or mother. When he was young, he was a well-known local gangster. He was nearly beaten to death. I saved him and discovered that he had a talent for cultivation, so I taught him the teachings and he embarked on the path of cultivation. I never thought that his nature would not change, and he wandered around the northern border and Zhongzhou, stealing. So I want to capture him and bring him back."

After listening to Yu Chao's explanation, Yu Nian thought of his second disciple who had accidentally entered the evil path and his eldest disciple who would become the biggest villain in the future. He inquired, "What will happen to him if he is captured and brought back to Linshui Mountain?"

If she fails to control Yang Yi, Yang Yi might be sent to Linshui Mountain to be convicted one day...

Yu Chao was momentarily distracted, then said, "He stole the secret treasures of dozens of sects. Although he didn't actively hurt anyone, he indirectly caused some casualties. He will probably be executed."

"Death as a way to atone for one's sin? That's so serious." Yu Nian was shocked.

This will also be punishable by death?!

She felt a chill on her neck, so she decided to teach her apprentice well.

Yu Chao nodded: "Most monks are unruly. Only thunderous means can warn the world."

Yu Nian probably understood why Linshuishan’s prestige had always been poor.

"Even if Chu Mu died to atone for his sins, what good would it do to those who suffered in the past? Can what has already happened be changed?"

Yu Nian asked slowly, and Yu Chao remained silent.

Even if death a thousand times cannot change anything, how can one atone for the sins and seek redemption?

"Fellow Daoist Yu, I think Linshui Mountain should undergo some reforms. Let me tell you a story first."

Fortunately, she used to counsel students every day and had a lot of wisdom in her head.

The Buddha and his disciples were spreading the Dharma throughout the country. One day, while passing through a village, they saw three teenage boys hanging in the village square, exposed to the scorching sun. The three boys were severely dehydrated and had fainted. Passing villagers were oblivious and continued to go about their business. People were coming and going in the market, and no one thought there was anything wrong with this.

The Buddha asked his disciples to find out what crime the three boys had committed and why they were treated so cruelly.

After asking the villagers, the disciple learned that the three boys had fled from other places due to famine. Because they were hungry, they broke into a family's kitchen to steal food. However, the male owner of the house heard the noise at night and went to check. When he found them, he chased them and beat them. The three boys were afraid of being beaten to death, so they joined forces to kill the male owner of the house.

The three boys tried to escape in panic, but they were surrounded by the villagers and were all caught. Because killing someone requires death, they were hung on a tree as a warning to others.

Killing someone means paying with one's life, which is the most universal truth in the world, but Buddha knows that this is just an excuse for people to be lazy. Life is already difficult, and no one wants to waste time and energy on irrelevant people, because it is so difficult to educate a sinner.

So the Buddha gathered all the villagers and said to them: "It is easy to kill these three boys today, but there is no way to guarantee that three more boys will come from other places suffering from famine tomorrow. Therefore, the only way to prevent such a thing from happening again is to eliminate the famine."

At first, few people should have known about it, and the three boys were judged by the villagers and died to pay for their lives. Later, many refugees came to the village to steal and rob, and everyone realized that what the Buddha said was true.

Later, the villagers helped the refugees to open up new land and homes, making them prosperous, and the disasters became less frequent.

Yu Nian's story is very simple, but the truth it contains is profound.

Yu Chao seemed to have come to a realization. "Fellow Daoist Yu, I understand. To solve a problem, we need to remove the fuel from the fire and stop the boiling point. We need to address it from the root. People like Chu Mu are more likely to be forced by their environment and circumstances... Perhaps, in order to prevent some children from going astray from a young age, we can establish an organization to support children..."

She spoke a lot about her understanding, her voice was eloquent, and her analysis was so logical and irrefutable that it almost confused Yu Nian, the storyteller.

In fact, what she wanted to say was that killing alone could not solve the problem, and people like Chu Mu, whose crimes did not deserve the death penalty, could be educated.

But overall, the goal was achieved.

If her disciples go astray in the future, perhaps they will still have the option to turn back.

"Friend Yu, do I understand correctly?"

Yu Nian nodded in admiration, "Fellow Daoist Yu is very smart to draw inferences from one example."

"I also want to thank Fellow Daoist Yu for your guidance. Linshui Mountain really needs to change," Yu Chao said with a look of enlightenment. He then looked at Chu Mu behind him and said, "Chu Mu, I will let you go today. I hope you can mend your ways and make up for the mistakes you have made. If you still refuse to change your ways, I will personally kill you!"

Chu Mu watched all this in amazement, and then looked at Yu Nian in shock.

He and Yu Chao had been battling wits and courage for a long time, and he understood her character very well.

Unexpectedly, Yu Nian's few words really made Yu Chao, the stubborn woman, let him go.
