Quick Wear: To get home quickly, do the task

Chapter 8 Is Senior Brother Really Innocent?

This was the first time the two of them talked openly about the incident after it happened. Amidst Qiao's tears, Zhang Dashan also decided to forget about it.

"Qiao'er, let's not talk about the past. We will be fine from now on."

"Well, Brother Dashan, I'll listen to you!"

The two were talking to each other when Xiaobao's voice suddenly rang out, "Daddy, Mom, there's a fire over there."

Looking back, they saw that there was indeed a fire at the east end of the village. Zhang Dashan picked up his son and pulled Qiao towards that end.

As I was walking, I suddenly realized, isn’t that my home?

In a hurry, she tripped and fell to the ground with her son.

In order to protect his son, Zhang Dashan twisted his body and let his son fall on him. But by chance, there was a stone on the back of his head, and Zhang Dashan fainted on the spot.

Since Mrs. Qiao couldn't wake up Zhang Dashan, she asked her son to stay and watch him while she ran home first.

When Zhang Dashan woke up and returned home with his son, more than half of the house had been burned down. Not only did the old couple not come out, but even Qiao, who had gone in to rescue people, did not come out either.

According to the villagers, the fire was so big that they could only fight it from outside and could not go in to save people. But Qiao Shi was so strong that he insisted on going in.

After finishing the funeral in a daze, Zhang Dashan felt something was wrong. There was only a slight breeze that night, and the fire could not have started so quickly.

Moreover, when he left the house, the old couple had already fallen asleep. The son also brought his own fire out, so how did the fire start?

If the fire was set by someone, the only enemy of his family would be the son of the village head.

Hard work pays off. After three months of tracking, Zhang Dashan finally caught the village head's son. After all, it was the first time for the village head's son to do such a big thing. Three lives were lost, so he couldn't help but feel panic...

Zhang Dashan took the evidence and went to his sister's house. With the help of his brother-in-law's family, he went to the county government to sue the village head's son.

Three lives were lost, a truly heinous crime. The village chief's son was sentenced to death, and the village chief was replaced by another uncle from the clan. Zhang Dashan finally got his revenge.

After taking revenge, Zhang Dashan felt relieved. He didn't want to live any longer. But looking at the three-year-old Xiaobao, he could only cheer up.

However, most of the house was burned down. And dealing with the government was impossible without making arrangements. More than ten acres of good farmland had already been sold for money.

He could only go out to find odd jobs to support his family.

Zhang Xiaomei told her brother to leave Xiaobao at her home, but Zhang Dashan was too embarrassed to continue to burden his sister.

This matter was originally my fault. If I had divorced Qiao immediately after discovering it, or had made a big deal of it, I wouldn't have brought trouble to my parents at such an old age and left them with a miserable death. And my sister also lost both her parents...

Finally, he sent his son to live with his third uncle in the clan. They were all from the same clan, and since it was the head of the clan who had committed the crime, the clan members couldn't ignore it, but they couldn't treat his little boy well either. As long as he didn't starve to death, that was enough.

Zhang Dashan had been away for more than ten days when he returned to find his son delirious with fever, and no one was taking care of him. He couldn't blame anyone, though. Children with fevers in the countryside were usually treated with traditional remedies, and few would take them to the hospital.

......

"Dad, I have some recollection of this. It seems a patient mentioned it before, saying that beautiful women are the root of trouble. But how do you know so clearly, Dad?"

"A lot of people knew about this, and it caused quite a stir at the time. Three lives lost! This is the first time something like this has ever happened in our area. There were even storytellers in the county who made a story out of it!"

The father and daughter sighed for a while before going back to their rooms to rest.

The next day, when Yuan Feng arrived at the clinic, he found Zhang Dashan decocting medicine. Was he stealing his job?

A few days later, Doctor Wu stopped Yuan Feng, who was about to go back to his room to rest, and said, "Xiao Feng, what do you think of Zhang Dashan?"

"......" Yuan Feng was stunned. What's the matter? "Very diligent, what's wrong?"

"Aren't we going to hire someone for our clinic? What do you think of him?"

"He's doing very well. He's been staying at the clinic these past few days, keeping it clean every day, helping with the decoctions, and even making lunch for my daughter and me. It would be great if he could stay. But, is he willing to do that?"

"I've asked around, and after his little babe's fever, he's no longer brave enough to leave him alone in the village. But he can't earn any money staying in the village, and working for us gives him both money and the ability to take care of him every day. He couldn't ask for more."

"Well, Daddy is the boss."

......

In the following days, with Zhang Dashan around, things were finally less busy.

Zhang Dashan and his son lived in the backyard of the clinic, and were responsible for preparing three meals a day, decocting medicine, opening the door, cleaning and other trivial matters.

In the past, Li Dongliang worked at the Wu family clinic, and there was an aunt helping out at home. Now, apart from washing clothes, he does all the rest of the work by himself.

Moreover, he already had some knowledge of herbal medicine, and when he was not busy, he followed Dr. Wu to learn some methods of preparing medicinal materials.

Both father and daughter are very satisfied with Zhang Dashan.

Xiaobao is also very well-behaved and sensible. He never makes a noise and likes to stick close to Dr. Wu.

Doctor Wu also liked Xiaobao very much. At Zhang Dashan’s request, he gave him a big name, Zhang Le’an, hoping that he would have a happy and peaceful life in the future!

Now, whenever a patient came to the clinic, Yuan Feng would secretly write a prescription after Doctor Wu wrote it. He would then confirm it with Doctor Wu when he got home in the evening. This was also the task Doctor Wu gave Yuan Feng.

After repeated verification, Dr. Wu had to admit that his daughter did have some talent.

Occasionally, when Dr. Wu was on duty, Yuan Feng would try to prescribe a prescription for a patient who was not seriously ill. Gradually, Yuan Feng gained some reputation, and patients were no longer reluctant to accept his prescriptions.

Especially those women, who have some illnesses that are difficult to talk about, prefer to see Yuan Feng for treatment.

When he wasn't busy, Doctor Wu would take out the books Yuan Feng used as a child to teach Xiaobao how to read and write. Needless to say, Doctor Wu had already found the joy of playing with his grandchildren.

However, every time at this time, Doctor Wu would always look at Yuan Feng intentionally or unintentionally, and his hesitant look made it difficult for Yuan Feng not to notice.

Of course Yuan Feng knew what Doctor Wu meant. He just wanted to hold his grandson!

It might be because of Li Dongliang. He felt that his vision was flawed and that he had almost ruined his daughter's life. So even though he was anxious, Doctor Wu didn't directly tell Yuan Feng about it.

However, getting married is indeed a troublesome matter. In this era, if you don't get married by the age of 18, it will not be allowed by the government.

Don't worry, there will always be a way out when you reach the mountain...
