End of the World Crisis, My Husband is from Ancient Times

Chapter 104 Revisiting the Ancient House

The cold wind blew up the fallen leaves, making a rustling sound like the whisper of a ghost.

Fan Mengmeng and Teng Junze stood in front of the ancient house again. This ancient building was like a sleeping giant beast, quietly lurking in the darkness.

The last experience was still vivid in her mind. The red light at the bottom of the well and the warning from the ancestors made Fan Mengmeng feel a little uneasy.

"This place... feels even more eerie." Fan Mengmeng rubbed her arms, trying to dispel the chill.

Teng Junze held her hand and said firmly, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

The two stepped into the old house cautiously, and a musty smell hit them in the face.

Fan Mengmeng used a flashlight to illuminate the surroundings and found that the marks they had left before had been destroyed by someone, and there were some messy footprints on the ground.

"Oh no! Someone has been here!" Fan Mengmeng's heart sank. Could it be that the key clue had been taken away by someone else?

She suddenly felt hopeless, like an eggplant hit by frost - wilted.

"Don't panic." Teng Junze looked around with a sharp gaze, "See if there are any clues left."

Suddenly, Teng Junze's gaze stopped at a shadow in the corner of the wall. He walked over quickly, brushed aside the thick dust, and revealed a tattered diary...

"Mengmeng, look!" Teng Junze picked up the diary and opened the first page. A line of beautiful handwriting came into view. "June 10, 1949, I finally found it..."

Fan Mengmeng excitedly leaned over, only to find that the next page had been torn off!

"Oh my god! This is too ridiculous!" Fan Mengmeng couldn't help but complain, "He failed at the crucial moment. What's the fun in that?"

Teng Junze frowned, a cold light flashed in his eyes, "It seems that we are being watched..." He suddenly clenched the diary tightly in his hand, turned his head to look at the door, and said in a cold tone, "Who is there?"

"Who's there?" Teng Junze's voice, with a hint of danger, echoed in the empty old house.

Fan Mengmeng was startled by his sudden action and became nervous. She looked around but saw nothing.

"Is this an illusion?" Fan Mengmeng muttered softly, her palms full of sweat.

Teng Junze didn't say anything, his sharp eyes swept across every corner of the room, like a cheetah looking for prey.

Suddenly, his eyes fell on a portrait on the wall.

The portrait was ordinary, depicting an ancient lady, but Teng Junze noticed that there was a brick below the portrait that was slightly different in color.

"Mengmeng, come here!" Teng Junze waved to Fan Mengmeng.

Fan Mengmeng hurried over, "What's wrong? What did you find?"

Teng Junze did not answer, but reached out and pressed the brick of a different color.

There was a slight "click" sound, and a secret compartment appeared on the wall!

This secret compartment was hidden very deeply, and it would have been impossible to discover it if Teng Junze had not been very observant.

"Oh my god! There's a secret room! This is so exciting!" Fan Mengmeng's eyes lit up with excitement. "Let's see what treasures are inside!"

Teng Junze carefully opened the secret compartment, and sure enough, there was a diary inside, which was thicker and more worn than the one he had found before.

"Bingo! Looks like we've found the treasure!" Fan Mengmeng snatched the diary and couldn't wait to open it.

However, there is a delicate little lock hanging on the diary, which firmly locks the secret inside.

"Oh my god! This is too ridiculous! Are you kidding me?" Fan Mengmeng suddenly felt like a deflated ball, with a look of despair on her face.

Teng Junze took the diary and looked at the small lock carefully, frowning.

This lock looks very old and finely crafted, so it may not be easy to open.

Just when the two were at a loss, Teng Junze suddenly touched the inside of the diary cover. It seemed like there was something... He touched it lightly and actually felt a small bump.

He pressed hard, and with a click, the lock opened.

Fan Mengmeng's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my god! There's such a thing? You really are a treasure boy!"

Teng Junze smiled slightly and was about to open the diary, when suddenly... He slammed the diary shut, pulled Fan Mengmeng behind him, stared at the door with a sharp gaze, and said in a low and dangerous voice: "Come out!" There was silence.

Only dust slowly fell in the dim light, as if time had stopped at this moment.

Fan Mengmeng's heart was pounding, she clutched Teng Junze's sleeve tightly, not daring to breathe.

The low shout just now seemed to have awakened a sleeping ghost, and a strange atmosphere filled the old house.

"Don't be afraid." Teng Junze whispered in her ear, his tone gentle but firm, like a reassurance, immediately calming Fan Mengmeng's panic.

After waiting for a while, there was still no movement.

Fan Mengmeng couldn't help but stick her head out and looked towards the door cautiously.

"Is this another illusion?" she muttered softly, feeling like she was playing an escape room game, exciting and thrilling.

Teng Junze did not relax his vigilance and continued to scan the surroundings with sharp eyes.

"No." He said firmly, as if he could see through everything.

"I sensed there were other people here."

Just then, a cold wind blew by, blowing up the fallen leaves on the ground and making a rustling sound.

Fan Mengmeng was frightened and quickly hid behind Teng Junze, hugging his arms tightly.

"Oh my god, I'm so scared! Is this old house haunted?"

Teng Junze gently patted the back of her hand to comfort her.

He walked slowly towards the door, step by step, each step carrying an invisible sense of oppression.

"Who? You're sneaking around, come out!" His tone was playful yet chilling.

Still no one responded.

Teng Junze curled his lips into a sneer. It seemed that the other party wanted to play hide-and-seek.

He was about to take a step forward when suddenly...

"Mengmeng, look!" Teng Junze suddenly pointed at the diary and said in a hurried tone with a hint of disbelief.

Fan Mengmeng poked her head out in confusion and followed his gaze, only to see that the small lock that originally locked the diary had... opened by itself!

"What...what's going on? Has the lock turned into a spirit?" Fan Mengmeng looked confused, feeling that all her three views had been refreshed today.

Teng Junze didn't say anything. He stared at the diary with complicated eyes and slowly stretched out his hand... "Wait!" Fan Mengmeng suddenly grabbed his hand, "Don't open it yet, I feel... something is wrong..." Fan Mengmeng's little hand tightly grasped Teng Junze's arm, her eyes full of worry.

"What if this diary is some ancient black technology that triggers a self-destruct sequence the moment it's opened? Or perhaps it spews out poison gas or hidden weapons? Wouldn't that be the end of us?"

Teng Junze was at a loss for words, wondering what was going on in this little head all day long.

"Mengmeng, you think too much. This is just a diary, not a secret manual in a martial arts novel." As he spoke, he exerted a little force on his hands, preparing to pry open the lock directly.

"Hey, hey, hey, stop it! Using violence to solve problems is ungentlemanly!" Fan Mengmeng stamped her feet anxiously. "What if the contents are damaged? This is a key clue to my life!"

Teng Junze sighed helplessly. This girl was still quite stubborn at the critical moment.

"So what do you say we should do? We can't just sing Conquer to it, right?"

Fan Mengmeng bit her lip, her little brain working rapidly, and suddenly an idea flashed in her mind.

"I got it! Most of the locks in ancient times were mechanical locks. Maybe there was some special way to open them." As she spoke, she began to carefully observe the structure of the lock, like a primary school student seriously solving a problem.

Teng Junze looked at her serious expression, and a doting smile unconsciously appeared on the corner of his mouth.

This girl looks silly at ordinary times, but she is quite smart at critical moments.

Fan Mengmeng studied the lock for a long time and finally found a small bulge.

"That's right! I think there's something fishy about this place!" She pointed at the bulge excitedly, like Columbus discovering the New World.

She pressed it carefully, and with a slight "click", the lock actually popped open!

The two looked at each other and saw surprise in each other's eyes.

Fan Mengmeng couldn't wait to open the diary. The beautiful handwriting on the yellowed paper caught her eye...

"I am a descendant of the Fan family..."

Just after reading the first few words, Fan Mengmeng suddenly felt dizzy, the diary slipped from her hands, her eyes went dark, and she lost consciousness.

Teng Junze quickly caught her falling body and shouted anxiously: "Mengmeng! Mengmeng! What's wrong with you?" He picked her up and his eyes fell on the diary on the ground, his eyes became deep and complicated.

"It seems that this diary is more complicated than we thought..." He hugged Fan Mengmeng tightly in his arms and walked towards the family ancestral hall with big strides.

"Grandfather, it's your turn to take action..."
