Xiao Taozi trembled, setting the tray aside. Her eyes were filled with pity, and she approached Su Jin timidly and cautiously. Her body trembled slightly like an autumn leaf in the wind. "Your Majesty, you have suffered." Xiao Taozi's voice was trembling and choked with sobs, like a fallen leaf drifting in the cold wind of late autumn. The trembling ending sounded particularly desolate and sad in the silence of the cold palace.

Su Jin struggled to lift her eyes, her gaze filled with gratitude, yet even more so with endless confusion and helplessness. Her once fair and delicate face was now as pale as paper, her cracked lips devoid of color, like withered petals. "Xiao Taozi, thank you for coming," Su Jin said weakly, her voice thin and shimmering, like a candle about to go out in the wind, weak and powerless, each word revealing a deep sense of exhaustion and helplessness.

At this moment, a loud and piercing noise suddenly came from the dilapidated doorway of the cold palace. It turned out to be a group of palace maids passing by. They pointed at the cold palace without hesitation, whispering to each other, their faces full of contempt and ridicule.

"Look, this is the once glorious Concubine Xian, but now she has met such a miserable end." A palace maid with a pointed chin shrilled, her eyes full of gloating, thinking to herself that at least she was not as unlucky as Concubine Xian, and was able to live safely in this palace.

"Hmph, it's her fault for being so ignorant that she offended the Concubine Shu. This is the retribution she deserves." Another round-faced palace maid echoed, secretly thanking her luck that she had followed the right master all along and had avoided such misfortune.

Xiao Taozi turned around hurriedly, walked quickly to the door, and slammed the door of the cold palace shut, trying to block out the harsh sounds. She didn't want these vicious words to reach Su Jin's ears, for fear of adding to Su Jin's troubles.

Su Jin struggled to accept the porridge from Xiao Taozi's hands. Her bony hands were covered in horrifying scars and bruises. With trembling hands, she lifted the porridge to her lips and sipped it in small, sips. Each sip seemed labored, as if she had exhausted all her strength. After finishing the porridge, she finally regained some strength, and her thoughts began to drift away. She tried to recall the past of this body's original owner, Concubine Xian.

When Concubine Xian first entered the palace, her family's influence was minimal, leaving her a lowly concubine. She was assigned to live in a remote, shabby courtyard, a small, dark room filled with a damp, musty odor. As night fell, she could only watch the faint candlelight, silently shedding tears as she yearned for her distant family.

On a chance occasion, at a Mid-Autumn Festival banquet held in the palace, the virtuous concubine walked onto the stage with light lotus steps, opened her red lips, and recited a poem full of deep emotion:

The bright moon shines brightly on the palace.

Thoughts of autumn linger in my heart.

May you always be like the Mid-Autumn moon,

Reunion is glorious every year.

Her clear and melodious voice and affectionate recitation instantly attracted everyone's attention. At that moment, she was like a dusty pearl that suddenly burst into a dazzling light.

Seeing this, Concubine Shu secretly planned to win over Concubine Xian to serve her own interests, so she spoke a few flattering words in front of the emperor.

Fortunately, Concubine Xian got the emperor's attention and was named a concubine.

As time slowly passed, the gentleness and talent of Concubine Xian gradually spread throughout the palace like a spring flower, exuding fragrance.

On a sunny and cheerful spring day, hundreds of flowers in the imperial gardens were in full bloom, as if competing to show off their beauty. The emperor was strolling leisurely among the flowers when he happened to meet the virtuous concubine. The spring breeze gently blew through the virtuous concubine's hair.

Her delicate face looked even more radiant and charming against the backdrop of the flowers. The emperor was in high spirits and asked the virtuous concubine to compose an impromptu poem.

The virtuous concubine thought for a moment, her eyes flashing with a lively light, her cherry lips parted, and she chanted:

The spring breeze blows through the blossoms of thousands of trees,

Colorful butterflies dance and the fragrance fills the road.

May your heart always be filled with spring,

Happy every year and never let down your love.

A beautiful poem poured out like a stream. Its verses vividly depicted the beauty of spring and a genuine love of life. The Emperor was delighted and promoted Consort Xian to the rank of Honored Lady on the spot. This sudden promotion sparked jealousy among the concubines, especially Consort Shu. She felt that Consort Xian was no longer the humble concubine she had once been, someone she could manipulate at will. The flames of jealousy burned fiercely, nearly consuming her sanity.

Concubine Xian, understanding the interdependence of fortune and misfortune, became increasingly cautious and tread carefully within the palace. Her gentleness and kindness, like a gentle spring breeze, nourished the hearts of those around her, earning the respect and love of the palace maids and eunuchs. At a grand palace banquet, Concubine Xian, dressed in a gorgeous pale pink palace dress with flowing sleeves, resembled a fairy descended from the sky. Her graceful dance moves and enchanting smile seemed to possess a magical power, captivating the Emperor. Soon, Concubine Xian, thanks to her charm, was promoted to a concubine. Meanwhile, Concubine Shu's jealousy reached its peak.

Recently, the Emperor had fallen for Consort Xian, obsessed with her talent. The eunuchs were about to arrange for Consort Xian to bathe her according to the proper etiquette, but the Emperor, thoughtfully raising his hand, said, "Wait, wait until I go myself!" However, upon entering Consort Xian's chambers, he stumbled upon a humanoid puppet engraved with his name, "Long Yan," hidden under her pillow. Furious, his interest was extinguished. Convicted of witchcraft, the Emperor immediately ordered her imprisonment in the Heavenly Prison, punishable by death. Consort Xian knew she was being wronged, but she had no way of defending herself. This was all a carefully orchestrated scheme by Consort Shu, and she had no way of explaining herself. Determined to portray herself as kind and compassionate before the Emperor, Consort Shu pleaded with the Emperor to pardon Consort Xian. Ultimately, Consort Xian was banished to the cold palace. Coupled with the frustration of living in the cold palace for a long time and the repeated persecutions by Concubine Shu, when Su Jin traveled through time, Concubine Xian, who was beaten by eunuchs in turn, had just died, and her soul was switched across time and space.

Su Jin's recollection was filled with anger and resentment at the injustice of Concubine Xian's fate and the harem's disregard for human life. As a modern soul imbued with a sense of justice and a pursuit of equality and freedom, how could she tolerate such injustice and darkness? She secretly vowed to use her wisdom to borrow Concubine Xian's body and live a new life, not only to avenge her, but also to secure a different fate for herself in this cruel harem.

In the days that followed, Su Jin quietly recuperated while diligently exercising. Every morning, she would laboriously stretch her body in the cramped courtyard of the cold palace. Even when exhausted and sweating, she never gave up. At the same time, she meticulously searched for useful information in Concubine Xian's memories, intently plotting a path to revenge and rise to power.

She knew the road ahead was filled with thorns and traps, but her heart grew even more resolute, with no intention of retreating. Her unyielding eyes seemed to declare to this cold palace, to this unfair fate: I, Su Jin, will never yield!
