Long River Eternity

Chapter 41 Wei Wu Mutation

Everyone in the cell was startled by the sudden and huge dragon roar, and looked towards the laboratory with horror.

"Why are there wild beasts roaring here?" Lin Ding asked Yang An in confusion. In this era, culture is basically broken. The dragon, the totem of Chinese civilization, is basically unknown, let alone the sound of a dragon's roar.

"This is the dragon's roar. It seems that Wei Wu has an unexpected gain." Yang An said.

"Dragon? What is that? Why have I never heard of a monster with this name?" Lin Ding asked.

"The dragon is a mythical beast from ancient times, and it has long since disappeared," Yang An explained.

Just as Yang An was about to continue asking questions, Dean Zhang's urgent voice suddenly rang out from the laboratory: "There's something wrong with him! Quick, stop him! Don't let him escape!"

Immediately, a fierce fighting sound suddenly broke out, colorful lights flashed inside the laboratory door, accompanied by explosions and the screams of researchers, and the air was filled with tension and fear.

Suddenly, a figure suddenly broke through the wall and flew backwards like a kite with a broken string, breaking several supporting pillars along the way. Finally, it passed through the entire room and slammed heavily against the wall, spitting out a mouthful of blood. Then it slid to the ground weakly and sat there paralyzed.

Lin Ding looked closely and saw that it was Dean Zhang who flew backwards. His heart tightened and he quickly turned to look inside the laboratory. In the smoke and dust, he saw a burly figure stepping out from a large hole in the wall.

The light in the room was dim, and Lin Ding couldn't see the man's face for a moment, but from his tall figure, it was obviously not Wei Wu.

Lin Ding quickly tore through the iron bars in front of him, rushed to the laboratory door, and peered inside. The scene before him horrified him: the lab was awash with blood and flesh, a river of gore. All the researchers were badly mangled. Broken arms and legs were the least of their wounds; some had their heads ripped off, and some, even more severely, had been severed in the waist, dying instantly.

Lin Ding was horrified at this hellish scene. However, the bodies were all wearing white coats, and there was no sign of Wei Wu. Could this be...?

Lin Ding turned his head to look at the tall figure. At this time, the smoke and dust had dissipated, and Wei Wu's face appeared in front of Lin Ding.

But Wei Wu was a completely different person now. His body and face were covered in black scales, gleaming with a cold sheen. Two protrusions, like tiny horns, even appeared on his forehead. His height and build had also changed dramatically, now exceeding two meters, like a moving tower. His bulging muscles were like solid rock, sharply defined and brimming with explosive power. Standing there, he exuded an unparalleled sense of oppression, like a giant awakened from ancient times.

Wei Wu slowly turned his head, his gaze fixed on Lin Ding. His eyes were empty, filled with confusion and bewilderment. The two stared at each other for a long moment before Wei Wu spoke with difficulty, "Old Yang..." Before he could finish his words, his body suddenly collapsed to the ground, and he fell into a coma.

Lin Ding's heart tightened, and he rushed forward to check Wei Wu's breath. He found that he had just fainted, with no obvious injuries on his body. Lin Ding was relieved and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Did he call you just now?" Lin Ding remembered Wei Wu's last words and asked Yang An in confusion.

"How should I know? Just ask him when he wakes up." Yang An replied.

At this time, a burst of white gas emanated from Wei Wu's body. As the white gas overflowed, the small horns on Wei Wu's head and the scales on his body slowly faded away and finally disappeared.

Lin Ding tried to wake Wei Wu up, but he couldn't do it at all, so he had to give up for the time being. After placing Wei Wu against the wall, he walked towards Dean Zhang.

Arriving in front of Dean Zhang, Lin Ding reached out and examined him. He found that Dean Zhang's bones and meridians were all broken, and he lay at the foot of the wall like a puddle of mud. He was already breathing more than he was breathing, and was dying.

Just when Lin Ding thought that Dean Zhang would not live long and was about to turn around and leave, Dean Zhang suddenly coughed and slowly woke up.

Seeing Dean Zhang wake up, Lin Ding hurriedly asked, "Where is Liu Xianxian?"

"Haha, promise me one thing and I will tell you." Dean Zhang said weakly.

"You are about to die, and you still want to threaten me. If you don't tell me, do you think I don't know whether Liu Xianxian has been taken away by Wu Linfeng?" Lin Ding said angrily.

Dean Zhang's eyes flickered at this moment, clearly having been guessed correctly by Lin Ding. He sighed deeply, his tone softening, "Then, considering the fact that you spent over a month together with Xiao Hu when they were little, can you promise me one thing?"

Hearing Xiaohu's name, childhood memories flooded back to me, and I softened my heart and said, "You want me to avenge Xiaohu, right?"

Dean Zhang's eyes lit up, he became emotional, coughed incessantly, and blood kept flowing out of his mouth.

Seeing that Dean Zhang was having trouble speaking, Lin Ding said, "I will avenge Xiaohu, but only for Xiaohu, not because of you, a lunatic."

Dean Zhang's mouth continued to ooze blood, and it was clear that he was dying. He gathered his last bit of strength and uttered three words incoherently: "Twin... Bears..."

After saying this, Dean Zhang exhaled his last breath and died without a sound.

Lin Ding looked at Dean Zhang, whose eyes were etched in his eyes as he died, feeling a mixture of emotions. The hatred of his wife and children had driven such a gentle and kind man into a murderous madman. What would have happened to him if it had happened to him? But he was destined to find no answer to this question.

In the end, he could only sigh, reach out to close Dean Zhang's eyes, and turn away.

When they arrived at the iron prison, everyone in the prison had seen the death of Dean Zhang. They were staring at Lin Ding who was coming over, their eyes full of hope.

"All the people who captured you are dead. You are free now. Go back." Lin Ding opened the cell door and said to the people in the cell.

Everyone cheered and then rushed out, and kept thanking Lin Ding as they passed by him.

After everyone had left, Lin Ding was just about to check on Wei Wu when he saw from the corner of his eye that the little boy named Feng Hao was still standing at the door of the prison, staring blankly ahead.

Lin Ding walked over to the boy, squatted down and asked, "Why don't you leave? Aren't you afraid that your parents will worry?"

Hearing Lin Ding's words, Feng Hao raised his hand and pointed to a support pillar in the room. A man's body that was no longer in human form was tied to the support pillar.

Lin Ding's heart skipped a beat, and he asked in a trembling voice, "That...that's your father?"

Feng Hao nodded.

Lin Ding felt a sense of foreboding, but he still asked again: "Then your mother..."

Before Lin Ding finished asking, Feng Hao moved his hand to the side. Lin Ding turned his neck stiffly and looked in the direction of the boy's finger. There was a female corpse with festering all over her body.

In other words, the boy's entire family was captured, his parents had died tragically, and the boy had become an orphan.

The last bit of pity he had for Dean Zhang disappeared, leaving only boundless anger.

Lin Ding suppressed his anger, collected himself, and said softly to Feng Hao, "Brother has something important to do right now. Can you help me take care of my brother lying over there? I'll be back soon, okay?"

Feng Hao nodded woodenly in agreement.

Lin Ding knew that Feng Hao was extremely emotionally unstable because he had witnessed the tragic death of his parents in front of him at such a young age, but he was in a hurry to get to the rest area to rescue Liu Xianxian, so he could only temporarily place him here. Besides, he was worried about leaving Wei Wu here alone.

After giving the instructions, Lin Ding rushed to the rest area without stopping.

Traveling at full speed, Lin Ding returned to the rest area in just three minutes.

Lin Ding walked lightly to the back of the office downstairs, stuck close to the wall, and listened carefully to the movements in the entire building.

After a moment, Lin Ding confirmed that the only noise in the entire building was coming from Old Wu's office, and it sounded like he was the only one there.

Lin Ding slowly moved to the bottom of Old Wu's office window, then slowly rose into the air until he was outside the window. Sure enough, Old Wu was the only one in the office.

Lin Ding pinched his hands together to mobilize the little spiritual power left in his body and used the move of "Dead Tree Comes Back to Life". Several vines grew out of the soil, then broke through the window and entered, quickly wrapping around Old Wu's limbs and body.

When the vines broke through the window, Lin Ding rushed towards Lao Wu at the fastest speed. By the time Lao Wu reacted and turned sideways to dodge, the vines had already entangled him. Lin Ding arrived and grabbed Lao Wu's neck.

He said sternly: "Where did you lock up Liu Xianxian? Tell me!"

Old Wu looked at Lin Ding in horror. He didn't expect that he could escape from the ruins.

Seeing that Old Wu didn't answer, Lin Ding couldn't help but tighten his grip around his neck and threatened, "If you don't tell me, I'll kill you first, and then search room by room!"

Old Wu looked into Lin Ding's murderous eyes and realized that he was not just talking, but really wanted to kill him, so he begged for mercy: "I'm telling you, don't kill me. The girl is locked up in the infirmary on the second floor."

After hearing this, Lin Ding controlled the vines to tie up Old Wu, and then used earth magic to turn the floor under Old Wu's feet into quicksand. After Old Wu had half of his body sunk in, he turned the quicksand back into the floor, thus controlling Old Wu's entire lower body in the floor. Only then did he feel at ease to go look for Liu Xianxian.

Lin Ding came to the infirmary that Lao Wu mentioned, and found that Liu Xianxian was tied to a chair with a rope made of the meridians of a monster, and was in a coma.
