Cining Palace

Kangxi and Qingyao hurried to the gate of the Cining Palace. Kangxi was the first to step through the threshold, followed closely by Qingyao. The two of them walked quickly forward, through the palace corridors, and headed straight for the Empress Dowager's bedroom.

Inside the bedroom, a group of imperial physicians stood nervously, waiting. Their faces were solemn. Suddenly, footsteps were heard outside the door, and then a palace maid gently pushed it open, revealing the Emperor and Empress. Everyone knelt and said in unison, "Your Majesty, Your Majesty." Kangxi and Qingyao walked into the bedroom, their faces filled with anxiety. Kangxi glanced at the surrounding imperial physicians, then walked over to the bedside and sat down. "How is the Empress Dowager?"

Imperial Physician Wang stepped forward and replied respectfully, "Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager has only caught a cold. Furthermore, her advanced age has weakened her body's functions and weakened her immune system, which is why her condition appears more serious. But please rest assured, Your Majesty. I have prescribed medicine for her. As long as she takes it regularly, rests, and keeps warm, I believe she will recover soon." He added, "But in the meantime, please keep an eye on her health. If she shows any discomfort or abnormalities, please summon me for treatment immediately."

Soon, all the concubines from various palaces arrived at the Cining Palace.

Kangxi breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. You must do your best to treat her and ensure the Empress Dowager's speedy recovery."

Then, he turned to look at Qingyao and said comfortingly, "Madam, you are blessed by fate. Everything will be fine. Don't worry too much."

Qingyao nodded and said softly, "Your Majesty, please relax. It's still early. Go and rest for a while. You still have to attend court."

Prince's Mansion

He Zhu raised his hand and knocked gently on the door: "My Lord, there is news from the palace that the Empress Dowager is ill."

Cheng Hu, who was in the room, heard the news. He immediately opened his eyes, which had been closed to rest, and sat up suddenly, with an anxious and worried look on his face: "Mother Huang Wuku is sick!"

He quickly got out of bed, tidying up his clothes while anxiously saying, "I'm going to the palace to visit her. Get ready quickly."

Yiermu got out of bed and helped him change his clothes personally: "Don't worry, my husband. There are imperial doctors in the palace. Mother Huang Wuku will be fine."

Cheng Hu: "Yilmu, I will go to the palace first and take a look. You can go tomorrow."

Yiermu: "My husband, please take the court robes with you. If Huang Wuku's mother is okay, you can go back to Yuqing Palace to sleep for a while, and don't run back to the mansion from the palace." As she said this, she went to get him the court robes and cloak.

Chenghu hurried to the palace, filled with worry for the Grand Empress Dowager. When he arrived at the Cining Palace, he found her fast asleep. The imperial physicians, standing by, greeted Chenghu with greetings. Later, Yinreng and Yinzhen, along with their brothers, also arrived at the Cining Palace.

Chenghu asked about the Empress Dowager's condition, and the imperial doctors told him that her condition had stabilized and she just needed to rest well.

Qingyao: "Chenghu, you brothers should all go and rest. We have to attend the court later. Mother is here."

Chenghu said, "Mother, please go and rest." He asked his two younger brothers to escort his mother out. Chenghu then breathed a sigh of relief and sat quietly beside the Empress Dowager's bed, gazing at her face. He remembered the love and care the Empress Dowager had shown him when he was a child, and his heart was filled with gratitude.

After a while, the Empress Dowager slowly woke up and saw Chenghu beside her. A trace of relief flashed in her eyes. Chenghu held the Empress Dowager's hand and asked with concern: "Mother Huang Wuku, how are you feeling?" The Empress Dowager smiled and shook her head, saying weakly: "I'm much better, good boy, don't worry."

In the following days, Qingyao personally served at the bedside of the Empress Dowager, taking care of her meticulously and never asking anyone else to do it for her. Kangxi also often came to visit and show concern for the Empress Dowager's condition.

With the joint efforts of everyone, the Empress Dowager's health gradually improved and she eventually recovered.

This illness made Kangxi and Qingyao cherish the preciousness of family affection even more, and their relationship became even deeper. The Empress Dowager was deeply satisfied with Qingyao's filial piety and virtue, and loved her even more.
