Spy Wars: Strong Agents Who Are Ruthless and Talk Little
Chapter 547: My Own Value
"Follow me." Zheng Yaoxian's voice suddenly came, breaking Su Ming's thoughts. He looked up and found Zheng Yaoxian standing at the door of the warehouse, his fingers gently touching the rusty iron door.
Su Ming took a deep breath, tightened his clothes, and walked towards the warehouse. His steps grew heavier, and with each step, his doubts grew. What kind of mission could make Zheng Yaoxian so cautious? He couldn't help but wonder.
Upon entering the warehouse, they were greeted by an empty space, surrounded by various worn-out items. The air was thick with a stale smell. The light was dim, as if everything was shrouded in a shadow. Su Ming's eyes swept around, searching for any clues, but he could see nothing. At this moment, every movement he made felt like walking into a vast net, threatening to trap him at any moment.
"Come here." Zheng Yaoxian's voice sounded again, this time with an unquestionable sense of command.
Su Ming hesitated for a moment, feeling a strong sense of unease, but he still walked over. Zheng Yaoxian pointed to an iron box in the corner of the warehouse. The surface of the box was rusty, and it had obviously been abandoned for a long time.
"Open it." Zheng Yaoxian ordered.
"What's in this box?" Su Ming asked, a hint of doubt in his tone.
"You don't need to know." Zheng Yaoxian's answer was as calm as ever, yet it also carried an invisible intimidation. "Your mission is to complete this part."
Su Ming looked at the iron box, took a deep breath, and slowly walked over. Questions piled up in his mind, but at this moment, he could only follow Zheng Yaoxian's instructions. Everything before him was becoming increasingly unusual, even threatening. The moment he opened the box, it felt as if he would touch upon a taboo, uncover an unspeakable truth.
The box was locked, the rusty iron lock creaking. Su Ming pulled the lid open with force, his heart skipping a beat. There was nothing conspicuous inside, just a document, a few yellowed papers, and some ordinary-looking tools.
He picked up the document and flipped it open. The handwriting on the document was unclear, but Su Ming could vaguely discern that the contents seemed related to his current situation. Although he couldn't immediately understand the letters and symbols, the familiar feeling was deeply imprinted in his heart.
"What's going on?" Su Ming's hands trembled slightly. He realized that this document could not be an ordinary document in any way. There must be some secrets hidden behind it.
Zheng Yaoxian walked over and coldly looked at the document in Su Ming's hand. A complex emotion flashed in his eyes, but he quickly concealed it. "Did you see it?" His tone became more serious. "Remember, you can only read it, not pass it around."
Su Ming nodded, but a pang stabbed in his heart. The document seemed to hold dangers he didn't fully understand, but now, he couldn't retreat. He could only press forward, continuing to uncover the mystery, even though the path seemed fraught with uncertainty and fear.
"I understand." Su Ming's voice was calm, but his heart was surging with emotion. Zheng Yaoxian's eyes were fixed on the document in his hand, as if it held extraordinary significance to him.
Su Ming nodded slightly, placed the documents back into the box, and closed the lid. Even though he was filled with doubts, he had no choice. He saw an undeniable pressure in Zheng Yaoxian's eyes, a pressure that made it almost impossible to breathe.
"I'll tell you more after the mission is over." Zheng Yaoxian finally spoke in a low voice, "But before that, you need to remain silent."
"I will," Su Ming whispered, his heart already swirling with emotion. Zheng Yaoxian's response didn't resolve his doubts; it only deepened his confusion. What exactly did that document mean? Why did Zheng Yaoxian care so much about it? He had to admit, he was deeply entangled in it, unable to extricate himself.
He looked around; the air was still thick with gloom. Everything was oppressing him, like a giant net, quietly tightening.
At this moment, Zheng Yaoxian turned and walked to the other end of the warehouse, seemingly waiting for something. Su Ming followed closely behind, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He knew that this mission was no longer simply a matter of carrying out a task, but rather a far more complex game, a gamble of truth, conspiracy, and even fate.
"Are you ready?" Zheng Yaoxian suddenly turned his head and looked at Su Ming, his eyes piercing through the shadows, sharp as a knife.
That day, he was assigned to contact a crucial intelligence source, codenamed "Shadow." Shadow's identity was unique: a high-ranking member of a hostile faction and a personal insider planted by Zheng Yaoxian. The mission should have been simple, but during execution, Su Ming discovered a shocking truth: Zheng Yaoxian didn't seem to fully trust him. With each mission, Zheng Yaoxian would test his loyalty through various means, and each time, Su Ming had to prove his worth through extremely dangerous trials.
However, as time passes, Su Ming gradually finds himself entangled in a larger conspiracy. Zheng Yaoxian is more than just a simple commander; every move he makes is imbued with unfathomable wisdom and ruthless scheming. His plans always strike at the most crucial moment, plunging all enemies into an irretrievable predicament. And Su Ming is merely a pawn in his hands, one that could be discarded at any moment.
"Shadow" was finally exposed during an operation, and Su Ming was forced to flee with her into enemy territory. This time, he not only had to face the enemy's pursuit, but also the scrutiny of Zheng Yaoxian. Su Ming knew that Zheng Yaoxian had never given up on testing him, and behind all this, there might be a greater conspiracy.
The days of escape were incredibly difficult, and Su Ming and Youying had to remain vigilant at all times. Every intersection, every alley, every shadow could hide an enemy ambush. Zheng Yaoxian's spies had already spread throughout the city. Su Ming knew he could not escape this vortex, no matter what. His only choice was to keep moving forward, until final victory or utter defeat.
After a fierce exchange of fire, Su Ming and Youying finally managed to hide in an abandoned factory. They had a moment of respite, but Su Ming's heart remained unruffled. Zheng Yaoxian's plans always seemed to unravel at the most crucial moment. And he, himself, was still just a pawn on the chessboard.
