Chapter 38 I Have My Own Money

He Yue immediately grabbed Mo Yiyun's hand and said, "Brother, no need. I have my own money. Why do I need you to help me pay?"

Shopkeeper Luo took the silver from Mo Yiyun and went to the counter to get the change. Mo Yiyun said to He Yue, "It's just a few sets of clothes. Besides, I got this reward because of you, so don't argue with me and don't take it to heart. You should also make my brother feel better, okay?"

He Yue didn't know what to say. "Thank you very much, Senior Brother."

Mo Yiyun smiled and waved his hand, "Then Senior Brother, should I thank you again?"

He Yue smiled, and Mo Yiyun said, "Junior sister, you look really pretty when you smile. You should smile more in the future. If you have anything, just come to me, okay?"

He Yue nodded, and Shopkeeper Luo respectfully saw the two off. He Yue wanted to go buy some more shoes, but then she remembered that she didn't know what size her mother and elder brother wore.

Mo Yiyun helped He Yue carry the clothes. When passing by the grain store, he said, "Brother, wait for me here for a while. I'll be back soon."

He Yue was afraid that Mo Yiyu would spend money on her again, so after giving Mo Yiyu some instructions, she quickly walked into the grain shop.

The clerk at the grain store saw He Yue, who was wearing a silk dress, coming over with a smile on his face. "What can this lady do for you?"

He Yue looked at several prices of rice. The cheapest one was eight cents per pound.

He Yue thought to herself, "Fortunately, although this world is ancient, it doesn't use the same units as we learned in history textbooks, such as one liter, one dou, or one hu. Otherwise, I wouldn't understand it."

He Yue pointed to the cheapest rice and said, "Weigh five pounds of this for me."

The clerk happily weighed five catties for He Yue. He Yue paid for the rice and gave him a penny for the rice bag. He Yue came out with the rice and said, "Brother, let's go!"

Mo Yiyun hurriedly took the rice bag from He Yue and said, "I'll carry it. Do you need anything else?"

He Yue said, "Don't buy it yet. I'll just go to the carpenter's shop over there and get something."

The two of them arrived at the carpenter's shop. The owner greeted them with a smile, "Hey, Dr. Mo, what a rare visitor! What are you looking for? Or do you want to order something?"

Mo Yiyun said, "I'm not buying or making anything. Boss Wu, I'm here with my junior sister to pick up something. Is the thing she ordered from you this morning ready?"

Boss Wu looked at He Yue beside Mo Yiyun and didn't recognize her for a moment. "Is this girl your junior sister? Did she come to my shop this morning?"

He Yue smiled and said, "Boss, I drew a blueprint for you this morning and asked you to make a pair of crutches. You even said that after giving me the blueprint, you would only charge me five cents for the materials?"

Boss Wu took a closer look and smiled, "Oh, it's you! I'm sorry I didn't notice you changed your clothes, but I've prepared everything you requested. Please wait a moment."

Boss Wu called the shop assistant to bring the things over. Boss Wu gave the things to He Yue and said, "Miss, please take a look. This is made according to your request. Are you satisfied?"

Mo Yiyun had never seen this before, so he put the thing aside and took it to look at it. "Junior sister? What are you doing with this?"

He Yue took the other one and explained, "This is a crutch. It's for people with mobility issues. It saves a lot of effort and doesn't require the injured leg to exert force, which is more conducive to the recovery of the injured leg."

He Yue explained and taught them how to use it. Mo Yiyun imitated He Yue and tried it. "Well, it's really good. It's much better than the ones I've seen made with a wooden stick. This is more convenient and stronger."

Boss Wu also nodded. "The girl is really beautiful and smart. She actually thought of this."

Mo Yiyun said proudly, "That's right, my junior sister is amazing."

He Yue said embarrassedly, "Brother, stop joking. This is not something I came up with. I just saw it."

Boss Wu and Mo Yiyun obviously didn't believe it and thought He Yue was being modest.

He Yue didn't explain any more. It would be troublesome to explain, so she just let them misunderstand.

He Yue handed the money to Boss Wu and said, "Boss, this money is for you. Thank you very much."

Boss Wu took the money and said, "No, I have to thank you for giving me the blueprints. Since you are Dr. Mo's apprentice, I can't let you suffer any loss. I won't accept the money."

He Yue said, "How can this be possible? You provide both the materials and the labor. How can I feel comfortable doing this?"

Boss Wu said uncomfortably, "I'm sorry to hear you say that, young lady."

Mo Yiyun said, "Okay, stop pushing it back and forth, Junior Sister. Just listen to Boss Wu. Keep the money. Give him the blueprint. He'll make this thing and sell it. It's good enough that you don't ask Boss Wu for more money. How can he have the nerve to ask you for more money?"

Boss Wu just smiled and said nothing. He Yue understood, but didn't think it was a big deal. Even if he didn't give him the drawings, he had already done it once, so he could still make it later.

He Yue didn't act pretentiously. She took the money back, said goodbye to the boss, and then the two of them returned to the Tzu Chi Hall.

Before returning to Tzu Chi Hall, He Yue and Mo Yiyun went to a place that was specifically designed to look after horse-drawn carriages, ox-drawn carts, etc.

There was a carriage and horse shop here that was responsible for looking after and buying and selling cattle. He Yue paid the cheapest three cents a day, which did not include fodder and water for the cattle.

They pulled the ox cart and put all the things on it. They arrived at the entrance of Tzu Chi Hall. When they entered, they saw Dr. Mo sorting medicinal materials at the counter.

"Master, we are back." The two shouted in unison.

Doctor Mo looked up and said, "You're back. Have you bought everything?"

He Yue nodded and said, "I've bought everything, Master. I'll take the medicine and go back. I still have some money, not much, but it's enough to cover the medicine costs! I will definitely make up for it later."

Doctor Mo said unhappily, "What are you talking about? Just take whatever medicine you need. You don't need to pay for anything. You are deliberately trying to embarrass me."

He Yue shook his head and explained, "No, Master, I just feel that these herbs were bought with money, so how can I take them for free?"

Doctor Mo looked at He Yue with heartache, and said earnestly, "Yue'er, you are such a simple and kind girl. I accepted you as my disciple because of your extraordinary medical skills. So, don't tell me you need some medicinal herbs, even if you need some medicine from my Tzu Chi Hall, I can give it to you."

Mo Yiyun looked at Doctor Mo in disbelief. He Yue was also stunned. Doctor Mo smiled and said, "Okay, aren't you in a hurry to go back? Take the medicine and go back! Be careful on the road. I still need to sort out the herbs."

He Yue called out to the master, "Master, thank you."

Doctor Mo waved his hand and was about to turn around when He Yue said, "Master, there's one more thing. If County Magistrate Guo comes to ask you to see Miss Guo, you must pay attention to whether there is a pot of grass in her room. I think you must have seen that pot of grass in Miss Guo's previous room!"

Mo Yiyun was puzzled. "What grass?"

Doctor Mo thought for a moment and asked, "Is there something wrong with that grass?"

He Yue asked, "Master, do you know what kind of grass that is?"

Doctor Mo was puzzled and said, "I saw it, but I didn't look closely, and I didn't see anything wrong with the grass!"

He Yue explained, "That's the Nine-tailed Grass. It has only nine leaves on a plant. It's not a poisonous grass and wouldn't be poisonous to any food or medicine. But Miss Guo's condition might be caused by this grass."
