Chapter 1: Time Travel Really Exists

In a hospital in Xicheng District, Beijing, He Yue had just finished get off work. After saying goodbye to her colleagues, she walked alone in another direction.

Her home is not far from the hospital, and it only takes about ten minutes to walk there.

He Yue was walking slowly as usual. The sky, which was apparently fine, suddenly turned dark, as if someone had suddenly covered the sky with a black cloth.

He Yue looked up at the sky in surprise. "The weather forecast said there won't be any rain today!"

With a loud bang, lightning and thunder scared He Yue. She didn't bring an umbrella and was afraid of getting wet, so she didn't think about why this happened and quickened her pace to go home.

The continuous thunder and lightning made He Yue inexplicably panicked, so much so that there were pedestrians on the road just now, but now there is no one there, and He Yue didn't notice it.

Raindrops as big as coins began to fall, and He Yue raised her hands to cover her head and ran forward.

A thunder roared, louder and sharper than before, and a bolt of lightning seemed to fall towards He Yue.

It seemed as if lightning struck He Yue, leaving her standing there in a daze.

He Yue felt a buzzing sound in her ears, and it felt like there were strong headlights shining in front of her.

Even with her eyes closed, she could still feel the strong light, and she didn't know how long it had been.

Only then did she feel that the sounds in her ears had returned to normal and the brightness in front of her eyes was not so great, so she carefully opened her eyes.

What comes into view is an earthen wall with tall trees on top.

She was stunned for three seconds before she reacted. She raised her hand and looked down at herself. "Oh my god! I was struck by lightning. My clothes were flattened."

She looked around again and found herself in a pit. "This lightning is amazing! It actually created a pit."

He Yue stood up and tried to crawl out, but as soon as she stood up, she felt dizzy and sat back down.

Before I had time to think about it, there was a bang in my head, and a memory that did not belong to me appeared in my mind.

There is a small village called Donghe Village under the jurisdiction of Huaiyu County, the northernmost part of Nanyu Kingdom. There are hundreds of households in the village, and most of them have the surname He.

There is also a girl named He Yue, who is the original body. She has been weak and sickly since she was a child. Fortunately, her parents and brothers are very good to her, but her family is too poor and can only make a living. There is no extra money to treat her illness.

I had paid to see the only old doctor in the village, and no matter how many medicines I took, it was the same.

Just today, she saw that the weather was good so she went up the mountain to collect firewood. Unexpectedly, she ran out of energy and slipped and rolled into a pit.

She died just like that, and He Yue from another world came into the body of this He Yue.

He Yue covered her mouth with her hands, her face full of disbelief. "Oh my god, time travel really does exist!"

She fumbled around her appearance and clothes, and it took her a long time to calm down. She felt dizzy and raised her hand to touch her forehead. "No way! God, are you kidding me? You brought me here and didn't give me a healthy body. If I keep burning like this, I'm going to die."

She looked up at the cloudless sky and sighed, "Well, it seems I have to rely on myself. Now that I'm here, I have to take a good look at this world!"

She cheered herself up and prepared to climb out, but she was too weak and couldn't climb up after trying several times.

She was already sweating profusely but she still persisted. In the end, she was too weak and could only rest for a while before continuing.

She leaned on the earthen wall with her hands, panting, and suddenly felt a shadow blocking her way.

She looked up and saw that the man was very tall, carrying a few arrows he made on his back and holding a simple bow in his hand.

He wore a grey coarse linen shirt loosely on his body, and pants of the same colour matched with a pair of straw sandals.

There was no expression on his dark face. When He Yue saw him, she had information about this person in her head.

He is Zhang Daniu, the son of hunter Zhang from Donghe Village. He is nineteen years old this year. Because of years of hunting and being exposed to the wind and sun, he looks much older than his peers.

Zhang Daniu stretched out his hand and looked at He Yue expressionlessly, "I'll pull you up."

He Yue stretched out her hand, and Zhang Daniu pulled her up like a chicken. Well, the original body was weak and sickly, and malnourished. She was obviously sixteen years old, but she looked like only eleven or twelve years old.

After He Yue stood up, she looked at Zhang Daniu and said, "Brother Daniu, thank you."

He still had no expression. "Don't run around if you're not feeling well. Go back quickly."

He Yue didn't have much energy to say anything more, so she just nodded and said, "I'll go back now."

Zhang Daniu saw He Yue nod and turned to go into the woods. He Yue's body swayed, and she hurriedly held onto a tree. "No, the fever must be reduced as soon as possible. Fortunately, I'm a doctor, otherwise I would have died as soon as I came through."

When He Yue felt better, she went down the mountain and picked some herbs that were useful for her illness.

All herbs are medicines, and the medicines needed for simple illnesses are also very common. In a short while, she found all the herbs she needed.

After going down the mountain, he returned to his home at the foot of the mountain based on the original owner's memories.

There are dozens of houses in the village, most of which are built of wood. Some others have stone walls, some have earth walls, some have tile roofs, and some are covered with bark and grass.

He Yue's house is at the outermost end of the village. The house is not big, and its walls are also made of earth. The roof is covered with tree bark and a special kind of grass.

There is a two-meter by two-meter flat ground in front of the house, and there is a small house at the very edge of the house. It is called a house, but it is actually a simple shed made of a few pieces of wood and some branches and twigs.

There was a slight smell coming from inside, which was probably the toilet. He Yue went forward and opened the door. The door was not locked, there was only a piece of cloth hanging on the wall on one side.

The light in the room was not good, but since it was daytime, I could see clearly inside after opening the door.

He Yue looked into the room based on her memory. In the middle of the room, there was a long table made of broken wooden boards and two broken benches.

Although the tables and chairs are very worn, they are also very clean. In fact, they are almost covered with patina because of frequent use.

There is a room behind the table, which is where the original owner's parents lived. There are two rooms of the same size on the left, one for He Yue and the other for the original owner's elder brother and younger brother.

On the right is the kitchen, which is as simple as it can be. There is only an earthen stove and a simple table next to it with dishes and chopsticks on it.

On the other side there is a large wooden barrel, a small wooden barrel, and two small wooden basins.

Not far from the earthen stove, there was a square earthen pit with ashes and a tripod inside. He Yue was not unfamiliar with these because she had seen them at her grandmother's house when she was a child and knew what the fire pit and tripod were used for.

He Yue put the herbs on the table in the middle of the room before looking for something to boil the medicine where the bowls and chopsticks were placed. After searching everywhere, she finally found a broken clay pot in the corner.
