The people of Golmud have their own unique wintering methods. Every household has a stove. They invented a fire wall built indoors with earth blocks, creating several curved sections. A chimney is connected to the stove's exhaust and then to the fire wall. Smoke is then exhausted outside, using the principle of heat circulation to provide warmth.

It may seem simple, but it's incredibly practical. While water may freeze outside, it's warm inside. As long as there's a fire at home, the people of Golmud can still enjoy a comfortable winter. This is how Mo'er's house was built.

Before the 1990s, Golmud Town had few buildings. Most families lived in mud-walled houses with gates and courtyard walls. The owner would place a tin kettle on the stove, and the boiling water would emit white steam.

There are two ways to keep warm in Golmud in winter. The first is to burn coal. The coal comes from the Daqingshan Coal Mine and Xiaotouyang Coal Mine, which are more than 200 kilometers to the north. The coal produced in Daqingshan is bituminous coal.

The "small head sheep" is raw coal, anthracite, of exceptional quality. Taking advantage of the warm weather, every household has already mixed the raw coal dust with clay to make briquettes. Rows of black briquettes are neatly stacked in the courtyard. The second method is to burn firewood, sourced from red willow roots deep in the desert east of Golmud. Split red willow roots are incredibly hard and durable. Families who burn firewood also take advantage of the warm weather, stocking up on a truckload of chopped red willow firewood for the winter.

The team prepared almost a ton of coal outside Mo'er's house. There was also a lot of firewood! So Mo'er didn't have to worry about freezing this winter!

Summer arrives late in Golmud and winter comes early. Only around May Day does the willow branches begin to sprout new buds, and a hint of spring gradually appears.

Spring, summer, and autumn pass by in a flash, and then the long winter sets in. In October, the rivers freeze over!

In Golmud around the National Day, if you don’t light a stove at home, you will be too cold to fall asleep at night.

We drove around town, got to know the shops, and had a meal at a state-owned restaurant.

We had Golmud's famous kang-baked lamb chops, which are grilled in a traditional kang-baked pot. Fresh meat and vegetables are grilled on the kang-baked pot, preserving the original flavor and delicious taste of the ingredients. Mo'er ate so much that his mouth was full of oil and his belly was full!

After dinner, she went to the supply and marketing cooperative again. It was similar to the one back home. She didn't buy anything.

In order to make it easier to move things in the future, she put away the small car and made a military truck. She loaded some rice, flour, and oil, as well as a lot of wooden blocks. The wooden blocks were all from the space, six centimeters square, and many were about ten centimeters. She also installed a set of liquefied gas and a stove. It was mainly for cooking! She also installed a lot of ropes and wires for the greenhouse.

Of course, plastic is essential for greenhouses. I packed enough, enough to cover four or five acres. I also bought two tons of coal and two iron stoves and chimneys. The truck was completely filled.

When they returned to the army, everyone was stunned. Why did a large truck come? Where did it come from? Even the regiment commander and the political commissar were alarmed. They all came to Mo'er's house to see what was going on.

The regiment commander pulled Mo'er and asked: Girl, where did you get this car? I'm so jealous. If our army had a few of these cars, it would be very convenient to transport supplies back and forth.

Mo'er said: Oh, it's my friend's, he can get it. It is said to be produced abroad and has not yet been put into production. If you want it, I can get two for you!

The regimental commander was overjoyed. "Really? You can actually get one! Your truck sounds incredibly quiet, and it doesn't seem to be struggling to haul so much. It's got plenty of power! The trucks we have now are prone to breaking down, making a lot of noise, leaking air, and can't haul much! If you can get two back, I'll give you credit! We'll keep one for ourselves, and use the other to research. Why are their trucks so good?"

Mo'er still had nine vehicles in his space, so it didn't matter if he gave away two of them, so he nodded and said: "That's no problem, I'll make a phone call and they'll be there in two days." The head of the group immediately asked the guard to take Mo'er to make a phone call, and he arranged for someone to unload the truck for Mo'er. Mo'er pretended to make a phone call, said a few words, and then returned home. When he saw the head of the group, he said: "No problem. They'll be delivered the day after tomorrow, but you have to go to Golmud to pick them up!" Not only two trucks, but also two of the small passenger cars that I drove back will be brought in. He said that he didn't charge for these four vehicles, and that they would be donated to the army to make a small contribution to the construction of the motherland. The head of the group was so happy that his teeth were exposed. That's great, you have to thank them very much. Oh, with these patriotic people taking action to bring in some good things from abroad, our scientific research work has avoided a lot of detours!
