Chapter 574 The Killed Imperial Guards
Kanas stared expressionlessly at the imperial guard lying on the ground struggling in pain. He walked straight up to the other party with steady and powerful steps.
Then, without hesitation, he raised his foot and stomped with all his might on the opponent's already broken and bloody chest.
Only a dull sound was heard, "Puff!" The Imperial Guard suffered such a heavy blow that a stream of scarlet blood spurted out of his mouth, splashing out like a fountain, and instantly completely submerged the helmet on his head.
However, despite being seriously injured, the imperial guard still tried to struggle to stand up and fight back, but his injuries were too severe and he had lost all his limbs. He was unable to resist at all and could only stare at Kanas with hatred in his eyes.
Kanas looked down coldly at the enemy who was struggling like an ant, then slowly squatted down, stretched out his hand and ruthlessly pulled off the opponent's helmet.
When their eyes met, Kanas's icy eyes stared straight at the raging anger and endless hatred burning in the other's eyes.
Kanas didn't care about the hatred of his defeated opponent at all. He could only look down at him and utter a cold question:
"Tell me! Why did you appear in the capital of the Delta Sector? And why did you take the initiative to attack us?"
Faced with Kanas's fierce questioning, the imperial guards, although already on the verge of death, still showed no sign of weakness.
He coughed violently and replied in a weak but disdainful tone, "Ahem... Killing heretics is our sacred mission, and everyone has this responsibility!"
Hearing such a stubborn answer, Kanas's face became even gloomier, and he cursed in his heart, "You are so stubborn."
He did not give the other party any chance to breathe, but raised his right foot high again, and with a heart full of anger and murderous intent, he stomped down on the hard head of the Imperial Guard with a force as powerful as thunder.
In an instant, there was a horrifying sound of bones breaking, "crackling!" Along with this horrifying sound, the head of the Imperial Guard was like a ripe watermelon.
It exploded under Kanas's heavy foot, and brain matter mixed with blood splattered everywhere. The scene was extremely bloody and it was unbearable to watch.
"Captain! I'm really sorry. I brought shame upon you with this operation." A Space Marine walked up to Kanas with a pale face and said in a trembling voice.
He lowered his head, not daring to look directly into Kanas's eyes, as if he had committed a heinous crime.
Another Space Marine followed closely, his face also filled with guilt, his body trembling slightly as he said, "Yes, Captain, it's because of our lack of strength that the enemy is so arrogant."
Both of them lowered their heads deeply, expressing deep self-blame and regret. The other three comrades died beside them, but they were powerless to do anything.
Kanas stared quietly at the two wounded subordinates in front of him. The wounds on their bodies were of varying depths, and blood kept oozing out, staining their power armor red.
His expression was unusually calm, without the slightest hint of blame. After a moment, Kanas slowly spoke:
“Failure is not terrible; what is truly terrible is to become timid before the battle even begins.
The fact that you have been able to hold on until now, continue to fight this powerful imperial guard, and survive tenaciously, has already proven your courage and perseverance. So there is no need to feel ashamed or guilty about this, because you have done nothing wrong.
Hearing this, the two Space Marines looked up, a hint of gratitude flashing in their eyes.
Kanas smiled slightly and continued, "Alright, stop thinking about it. Hurry back to the warship to heal your injuries. Only by recovering quickly can you better meet the challenges of the future."
"Yes! Captain Kanas." The two answered in unison, then looked at each other, took the bodies of the three fallen comrades, and left the bottom nest directly through teleportation.
Just as they were leaving, they all turned back to look at the bodies of the imperial guards lying on the ground. Especially when they saw the imperial guard general who was killed by Kanas himself, they couldn't help but feel admiration in their hearts.
After watching the two men leave, Kanas's gaze fell on the body of the imperial guard at his feet. With an expressionless face, Kanas ordered the guards behind him: "Take this guy's body with you. We are ready to leave here."
"Yes!" A burly guard responded and walked forward quickly.
He effortlessly lifted the heavy body of the Imperial Guard with one hand, as easily as if he were lifting a chicken. The entire team began to evacuate the bloody and murderous battlefield in an orderly manner, following Kanas and teleporting directly out of here.
The captain of the defense force stood quietly in place, his sharp eyes fixed on the gradually receding figures of Kanas and the Space Marines until they completely disappeared from his sight.
Then he slowly turned around, his face solemn and gloomy, and said to the people behind him in a voice so low that it seemed to penetrate people's hearts:
"The injured brothers should return to the base to receive treatment, recuperate well, and strive to recover and return to the team as soon as possible.
The rest of you, join me and continue to move forward. We must eliminate all the heretics in this world and avenge our heroic comrades who have passed away!"
As soon as the captain finished speaking, a deafening roar erupted from the crowd:
"Revenge! Revenge!"
These roars were like surging waves, rising one after another and resounding through the sky.
Everyone's face was filled with anger and determination, their eyes were burning with the flames of revenge, and they couldn't wait to rush into the enemy camp and kill them all.
Under the leadership of the captain, the soldiers of the defense army took firm and powerful steps, advancing deeper into the bottom nest like a rolling torrent.
They held various weapons in their hands, some flashing with cold light, some spewing flames. Everyone had only one belief in their hearts, to eliminate all threats lurking in the bottom nest, whether they were evil believers of the evil god, hideous aliens, or strange and unpredictable mutant creatures.
Despite having just experienced an extremely brutal battle and suffered huge losses, these brave and fearless soldiers had no intention of retreating.
On the contrary, this tragic defeat only aroused a stronger fighting spirit and hatred deep in their hearts. They knew that only by completely eradicating the threat in the bottom nest could they comfort the souls of those who died on the battlefield.
Only by achieving final victory can justice and peace be defended. Therefore, they threw themselves into the next battle without hesitation and would not give up until their goal was achieved.
