Warhammer: From the Devouring C'tan Fragments
Chapter 523 Missed Opportunity
After hearing this, Tiberius nodded, expressing his understanding. "If the defense forces didn't allow you to choose, you wouldn't be able to obtain these weapons and equipment."
He turned his gaze to the other team members, but was surprised to find that almost everyone was carrying Gauss rifles and various power weapons.
His expression instantly stiffened, and after a moment's hesitation, he asked, "Did... all of you choose Gauss rifles?"
"Lord Tiberus, yes." Evans and others responded to Tiberus honestly.
"Shouldn't there be a large variety of individual weapons for you to choose from? Why did all of you choose Gauss rifles without exception?" Tiberus frowned slightly, with a hint of doubt on his face.
Hearing this, Evans glanced cautiously at Tiberius, whose expression was clearly not pleasant. Then he replied with a slightly awkward expression:
"Your Excellency, you don't know that the Gauss rifle is incredibly powerful. It's no exaggeration to say that even a sturdy Chimera armored transport vehicle could be easily destroyed by a Gauss rifle.
That's why we all unanimously decided to use Gauss rifles as our primary weapon."
Tiberus shook his head vigorously, waved his hand again and said, "That's not what I meant.
Since the defense forces allow you to choose the weapons and equipment you need, then logically speaking, they should not have explicitly prohibited it. You can bring a few different types of weapons!"
"Uh..." Evan's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief. He stared blankly at Tiberius and couldn't help but mutter to himself:
“Lord Tiberus, is it really possible to get some more weapons of other kinds?
Although the defense forces have not explicitly forbidden us from doing so, I was worried about the trouble that might arise if the defense forces disagreed, so I only allowed everyone to receive a Gauss rifle.
"How foolish! Have you forgotten the harsh living conditions we once lived in? If you don't take advantage of this opportunity, you're a complete fool!"
Tiberus's face was full of anger, and he stared at Evans in front of him with wide eyes, as if he wanted to penetrate him with his eyes.
He never imagined that Evans and his gang only had a Gauss rifle! Shouldn't they have plundered the place thoroughly, leaving nothing behind, just like they had done in the past? They wouldn't stop until they had completely wiped out the entire place.
Although there is now a powerful star army responsible for supplying them with a variety of advanced and sophisticated weapons and equipment, the good habits of thrift and housekeeping that Tiberus has always developed have not changed at all.
However, what surprised and disappointed him was that Evans and other guys who had followed him for so long had not even been able to successfully learn and pass on his preferences and habits.
At this moment, Evans and the others were all stunned, staring blankly at the furious Tiberus. They also noticed that El and the others beside them also had unfriendly expressions, their eyes full of dissatisfaction as they glared at them.
Seeing this, Evans didn't dare to hesitate any longer and hurriedly said loudly, "I'm so sorry, Lord Tiberius! All the fault lies entirely with me. Please punish me as much as you can. This is entirely the result of my own decision!"
"Forget it." Tiberus waved his hand weakly and had no intention of punishing Evans. Evans and others had been staying in the Jesta galaxy and had no idea how luxurious the weapons and equipment of the soldiers under the command of the Lord of Stars were. It was understandable that they only dared to choose to receive a Gauss rifle.
Evans watched anxiously as the disappointment on the faces of Tiberius and the others faded. He swallowed hard, then mustered up his courage and spoke cautiously in a slightly trembling voice:
"Lord Tiberus, if you allow me, I will go to the defense forces right now and ask their management to provide us with more weapons and equipment. Is that okay with you?"
Upon hearing this, Tiberus seemed to have lost all his strength. He waved his hand feebly and replied dejectedly:
"Forget it, Evans. It's too late to go now. Even if you go and beg for mercy, it will probably be in vain. They won't easily agree to provide our Carcharodon Squadron with more weapons and equipment."
At this point, the situation was set in stone. It was practically impossible to persuade the defense forces to change their minds and provide additional weaponry and equipment to the Carcharhinus. Even if Evans did go and request it, he would return empty-handed.
After standing there in silence for a few minutes, Tiberus came to his senses from his loss. He cast his gaze at El beside him and gave an order in a serious tone:
"El, you will lead these warriors back to our fleet. Once they arrive, you must urge them to race against time to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the new warship's performance parameters, ensuring they can operate and use it with proficiency."
"No problem, sir." El nodded without hesitation, indicating that he accepted Tiberus' arrangement.
Just as he was about to lead everyone away, he suddenly seemed to remember something. He looked up at Tiberus, who was about to turn and leave, and asked curiously, "So, where are you going, Lord Tiberus?"
Tiberus didn't stop, but just turned his head slightly. His voice drifted in from afar along with the wind:
"I will go to the former Astra Militarum and Naval camps and recruit some outstanding sailors and mortal auxiliaries from there to join our team."
"Recruit more elite soldiers." El advised.
Tiberus waved his hand in response, "Don't worry, I won't recruit a bunch of useless people. It's better to have nothing than to have something that's not good enough."
El looked at the departing Tiberus and the Chapter Guards, then turned to Evans and the others around him and said:
"We have some too!"
"Yes."
El led the original members of the Carcharodon Wars to leave on a transport ship and headed to the Carcharodon Wars fleet stationed in the galaxy.
"Stop!" When Tiberus arrived at the former Astra Militarum and Navy camp, he was intercepted by the defense soldiers stationed outside.
"Tiberus of the Carcharodon Regiment is here to recruit sailors and mortal auxiliaries." Tiberus stretched out his hand and operated his personal terminal, and a holographic projection appeared in front of the defense army.
"Go in!" The captain of the defense force said calmly to Tiberus after reading the information in the holographic projection.
"grateful."
