Chapter 466 Don’t save me until you die
Braum stood there quietly, as if time had stopped, and he remained silent for a long time.
Finally, he slowly turned his head and looked at the communications officer beside him, and said in a low and serious voice:
"Help me connect to Sage Kaul. I have something important to ask him."
Upon hearing General Bron's order, the communications officer nodded respectfully and replied, "Yes, General Bron!"
Then, he quickly operated the communication device in his hand and dialed Sage Kaul's private communication channel as quickly as possible.
A few seconds later, the servo skull that had been quietly hovering beside Braum suddenly moved. Its scarlet electronic eye suddenly flashed, and then a clear holographic projection was projected from it.
In the projection, the huge and majestic figure of Sage Kaul was clearly visible.
Through the gap between Sage Kaul's broad, mountain-like back, one can vaguely catch a glimpse of an extremely large research table placed in front of him.
An equally tall figure was lying on the stage, obviously without any signs of life. After just one glance, Braum recognized their identities, the group of heretic Space Marines.
Sage Cawl was concentrating at this time, studying the body of the Space Marine and the various sophisticated weapons and equipment he carried.
After answering Bron's call, Sage Kaul asked directly without even looking up, "General Bron, I wonder what you want from me this time?"
Braum straightened his body first, then bowed slightly, crossed his hands on his chest, and performed a Sky Eagle salute towards the back of Sage Koll in a standard and solemn posture.
Braum knew very well that even though Cawl the Sage had his back to him at the moment, he could definitely see his every move with his unfathomable strength and keen insight.
Therefore, Braum maintained an extremely respectful attitude from beginning to end, not daring to show even the slightest sign of slackness.
After the ceremony, Braum began to explain:
"Respected Sage Caul, the capital of Provans and the forging world of Dokla are currently facing a fierce attack from heretical forces. The situation is extremely critical and we are in urgent need of your assistance!"
"What?" Upon hearing this, Kohl, who was originally concentrating on his research, suddenly stopped what he was doing.
He slowly turned around, staring at Bron with a sharp gaze, an expression of disbelief on his face, and asked again:
"What? You said that the capital of Provans and the Forge World of Dokla are actually under attack by those heretics? But aren't those heretics still in the Jesta system?
Why did they suddenly change their target and launch an attack on these two worlds?"
This sudden news surprised Sage Kaul so much that he found it difficult to believe what he heard for a moment.
Facing Sage Kaul's question, Braum quickly stepped forward and explained respectfully, "This is what happened, Sage Kaul..."
Braum told Sage Kohl all the information conveyed by the signalman.
After listening to Bron's detailed report, Kohl's clone couldn't help but sigh inwardly, a trace of regret and reluctance in his eyes:
"It's truly astonishing that those heretics possess such powerful technology! It's a shame we weren't able to capture even a single one of their warships.
If we can obtain it, and once I have thoroughly researched the technological secrets possessed by these heretics, our warships will surely be able to achieve such astonishing speeds."
Although Cawl's clone had already witnessed the powerful technological capabilities displayed by the heretics, he still felt extremely regretful when he thought about not being able to seize the opponent's warships.
But the operation was not in vain, at least he successfully captured five Star Space Marines.
As long as Cawl can deeply analyze the advanced weapons and equipment carried by these five Space Marines, draw the essence from them and innovate.
This will undoubtedly greatly enhance the combat capabilities of the Space Marines developed by Cawl himself, thereby allowing the overall strength of the entire empire to take a slight step forward.
After Braum finished stating all the news, he couldn't help but feel anxious and confused when he saw that Sage Caul suddenly fell into a long silence.
He couldn't help but speak, and asked in a slightly hurried tone:
"Respected Sage Caul, facing these two worlds currently under invasion, do you think we should go and lend a helping hand?"
Sage Caul was in silence, immersed in his own thoughts. Braum's words suddenly exploded in his ears like thunder, instantly waking him up from his thoughts.
He slowly raised his head and looked at Braum with a serious gaze. His face, which was made of steel, unexpectedly revealed a deep worry and helplessness.
After a moment's silence, Kaul finally responded:
"I believe there's little point in saving these two worlds now. They've already been invaded, and by the time we realize it, rushing to their aid will probably be too late."
At this point, Kaul couldn't help but frown slightly and continued to analyze:
"Even if we can successfully repel this group of heretics' initial attack, given their demonstrated ability to rapidly mobilize support, it's not hard to imagine that it won't be long before they gather their forces again and launch a new, even more violent attack on these two worlds."
Kaul took a deep breath, his eyes becoming more determined:
"And if we rashly throw our last remaining fleet into this war, we will undoubtedly be deeply trapped and unable to extricate ourselves.
As the war continues to escalate, our fleet will inevitably suffer even more severe losses. This outcome is absolutely not what I want to see, nor is it a price I can afford."
After listening to Sage Caul's analysis, Braum said helplessly:
"Are we just going to watch helplessly as these two important worlds fall into the hands of those heretics?"
Cawl stared intently at Braum and replied indifferently, "You can lead your fleet to support us. I will lead the Mechanicus fleet directly out of the Provans sector."
When Bron heard that Cawl was no longer willing to participate in the war between the Provans star regions, he was shocked. He did not expect that a failure would make the sage Cawl retreat.
Without the Mechanicus's fleet, the Imperial Navy alone would be no match for those heretics. Faced with this harsh reality, Braum could only put aside his thoughts and nodded respectfully.
"I understand, Sage Cawl. Although we lost this war, at least we brought back detailed intelligence to the Empire."
