Warhammer: From the Devouring C'tan Fragments

Chapter 371 Azrael's Decision

After Azrael listened quietly to the captain's detailed report, his expression instantly darkened, like a gathering cloud. As if enveloped by an invisible pressure, the last glimmer of hope in his heart was ruthlessly snuffed out, vanishing completely.

"Stop attacking! Stay where you are and await my next instructions."

Azriel gave the order in an almost desperate and helpless tone, and as soon as he finished speaking, he cut off the communication connection with the company commander without hesitation.

Like a deflated ball, he slowly reached out and took off the heavy power helmet on his head, then looked towards the distant Medog with a sad and gloomy face.

"Did you receive the message?"

At this moment, Medog's mouth corners were slightly raised, revealing a half-smile, and he stared at Azriel's extremely ugly face with interest.

Long before, when Medog learned from Wood that the Minotaur Regiment had begun driving assault boats onto this battle barge to support the First Company.

The communication jammer was immediately activated to completely cut off the connection between the Minotaur Legion and the fleet.

The communication jammer can effectively block any information from being sent out from the inside of the battleship, and also prevent external information from being transmitted into it, causing Azriel to completely lose contact with his fleet.

Until this moment, Medog thought the time had come and was ready to launch an operation to persuade Azrael to surrender. He then ordered the removal of communication interference, allowing Azrael to receive the outside world's call for help, making it impossible for Azrael to remain calm.

“Yes, I got the message…”

Azrael seemed to have completely disregarded his usual commanding presence. He slumped roughly onto the cold, hard floor, his entire body limp like a puddle of mud. His head drooped, he weakly responded to Medog's question.

Seeing this, Motuo's smile faded a little, but his eyes still revealed a hint of playfulness. He asked again slowly:

"In that case, what are your choices now?"

Although Azrael is now in a desperate situation, this fierce war is far from over as long as the Imperial Navy has not been defeated or surrendered.

But unfortunately, the Minotaur Legion has now completely lost the ability to resist.

There is no doubt that if Azriel chooses to surrender, or refuses Medog and is killed, it will cause an unbearable blow to the morale of the Imperial Navy, and will also accelerate Medog's process of ending the war.

"Dear Medog Company Commander, I have a sincere request and I sincerely hope you can grant it."

Azriel slowly lowered his head, his voice low and full of pleading.

At this moment, Azrael's expression was completely different from the arrogant one he had when he first spoke to the two of them. His entire spirit and energy were gone.

After hearing Azrael's words, Medog did not immediately agree. He needed to weigh the pros and cons and treat Azrael's request with caution:

"Please tell me your specific request first. If it is within my rights, I will naturally consider whether to agree to your request."

What Motuo didn't say was, if you don't know your limits and put forward excessive demands, then I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't fulfill your wishes, and I can only send you on your way.

"I am willing to surrender and allow you to command me as you please! But I beg you to show mercy and spare my brothers who refuse to surrender. Give them a chance to live and allow them to leave this system safely!"

Azrael said as he slowly stood up.

His tall and mighty figure now seemed a little hunched, as if he was carrying a heavy burden. He walked towards Medog with heavy steps, and every step seemed to use up all his strength.

Azriel walked up to Medog, then slowly bent his knees and performed a standard single-kneeling ceremony to show his submission.

He lowered his head, buried it deeply in his chest, and said in an almost pleading tone: "Please..."

The Space Marines of the Minotaur Chapter are not only on this one battle barge, there are only less than two hundred Space Marines left.

There were also many members of the Minotaur Legion on the other two battle barges, the strike cruiser, and the planet Oria II.

It is impossible for everyone in the entire chapter to choose to surrender like Azrael. Many of them have loyalty to the Emperor deep in their bones, as solid as a rock, and will never give in easily.

Because of this, Azrael was very clear about the thoughts and determination of his battle brothers. Therefore, he would rather give up his last dignity and pride and plead with Medog.

We hope to give those who refuse to surrender a chance so that they can leave the Oria galaxy safely, which can be regarded as a complete severance of the past.

"Lord Azrael, I will never leave you! No matter what, I will always follow you, through life and death!"

Apu was so excited that he knelt down behind Azriel and expressed his opinion loudly to him.

"Lord Azrael, I will always follow you."

"Lord Azrael..."

"Lord Azrael..."

One by one, the Space Marines of the Minotaur Regiment quickly came behind Azrael and knelt on one knee to express their loyalty to Azrael.

"You..." Azrael looked at the Space Marines kneeling behind him, his eyes filled with emotion.

"We will always follow Chapter Master Azrael." All the Astartes Space Marines roared in unison.

"It seems like you hold a lot of importance in the hearts of these people. Even after you surrendered, they are still willing to follow you."

Motuo had a serious look on his face, and was a little surprised at the weight Azriel held in the hearts of this group of people.

"Captain Motuo, you're joking." Azriel showed a hint of flattery on his face when he heard Motuo's praise.

"I'm not praising you, I'm just telling you the truth."

"Captain Medog, I want to know if after we pledge allegiance to the great Lord of the Stars, can we still continue to go to the battlefield and fight for humanity?" Azriel asked out his concerns.

Azrael did not want to leave the battlefield. Azrael had fought for the empire in the galaxy for hundreds of years and had become accustomed to being in war all day long. If he could not continue to participate in the battle, Azrael felt that he would be truly useless.

Medog looked Azrael up and down and continued:

"After pledging allegiance to the great Lord of the Stars, you don't have to worry about losing your current status and position. You can continue to fight for the great Lord of the Stars and for all of humanity."
