In the deep night, Ye Wan walked alone in the forest. The surroundings were eerily quiet, with only the gentle whisper of the wind brushing past her ears and the shadows of the trees swaying ghostly in the moonlight. She had come to inspect the defense line, ensuring the safety of the valley, when she suddenly heard a burst of gunfire in the distance, shattering the stillness of the night. Then, a few shrill cries followed, and then a brief moment of dead silence.

Ye Wan's heart skipped a beat, and she cautiously stopped. Holding her breath, she hid among the trees, trying to figure out what was happening ahead. Just as she was considering whether to quietly retreat back to camp, a low moan reached her ears, seemingly coming from behind a nearby tree.

She couldn't help but look out. In the dim moonlight, she vaguely saw a figure lying on the ground, leaning against a thick tree. The man was covered in blood, his clothes almost stained with blood, but he still stubbornly gripped the gun in his hand, with a hint of vigilance in his eyes, as if waiting for the next wave of attack.

Ye Wan paused slightly, hesitant. Saving someone in such a dangerous situation might put herself in untold danger. However, the man's feeble groans and his unyielding eyes made her hesitate for a moment before she decided to step forward to investigate.

As she approached, she held her breath, looked carefully at the blood-stained face, and took a deep breath - the person lying in a pool of blood was unexpectedly a familiar face to her - Xie Linchuan.

Xie Linchuan was a colleague she had dealt with many times at the company. He was calm and rational, always giving off an air of composure and self-possession. Although they had only known each other for a short time, she had left a deep impression on him. However, she had never imagined that they would meet again under such circumstances amidst the conflict between dark forces.

Ye Wan looked down at him, internally debating whether to help. Xie Linchuan's clothes were now stained red with blood, and his breathing was weak. He was clearly seriously injured and could lose consciousness at any moment. However, even in this state, he still held the gun tightly in his hand, his eyes brimming with stubbornness and vigilance.

"Xie Linchuan, it's me, Ye Wan." She called him softly, trying to get him to relax his guard. Xie Linchuan raised his eyelids with difficulty, as if recognizing her, with a hint of surprise and relief in his eyes. His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but then he fell into a powerless silence.

Ye Wan's heart softened, and she quickly made up her mind: "Come with me, I will take you away from here."

She carefully placed Xie Linchuan's arm on her shoulders and supported him as he slowly moved forward. He was extremely weak, his steps wobbling, and she could feel his painful gasps with every step, but he still gritted his teeth and persevered without making a sound. Ye Wan whispered, "Hold on, we're almost to safety."

They moved cautiously under the cover of night, occasionally pausing to listen to the surroundings, and occasionally changing direction to avoid possible danger areas. Ye Wan led him around several rocks and finally found a slightly hidden open space. She put him down and let him rest against a large tree.

She pulled out the medical kit she had brought with her and quickly examined his wound. Xie Linchuan seemed to have lost too much blood; his face was pale and his lips trembled slightly. Ye Wan applied hemostatic powder to his wound and bandaged it tightly with a cloth. His brow furrowed slightly, clearly in agony, but he never uttered a sound, stubbornly enduring it all.

"Why are you here?" Ye Wan asked in a low voice while bandaging the wound, with confusion and concern in her tone.

Xie Linchuan smiled faintly, seemingly unwilling to say more. He simply said in a weak voice, "I'm dealing with some things... I didn't expect to run into you."

Ye Wan knew that it was pointless to ask further at this point, so she sighed, "You need to rest more, and your wound still needs treatment. Don't think about taking action again for the time being." There was unquestionable firmness in her tone, which made Xie Linchuan stunned for a moment, then he nodded with a wry smile.

At this moment, faint footsteps and whispers were heard in the distance, and Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan immediately became alert. She quickly put away her medicine bag and said to him in a low voice, "Someone is searching. We must move."

Xie Linchuan regained some strength, supported himself on the tree trunk beside him, and whispered, "I can hold on."

Ye Wan nodded, helped him up again, and led him deeper into the jungle. They found a hidden spot among the trees, crouched down, held their breath, and patiently waited for the pursuers to leave. In the darkness, Ye Wan's heartbeat gradually calmed, and her mind raced through the next steps.

After a while, the footsteps in the distance gradually faded away. After confirming that it was safe, Ye Wan breathed a sigh of relief, helped Xie Linchuan up again, and continued to look for a safe hiding place.

The night was as dark as ink, and the air in the mountains and forests was chilly. Ye Wan supported Xie Linchuan as they trudged towards the camp, silently resolving that no matter how this acquaintance had gotten involved in this conflict, she would do her best to help him through it.

After arriving at a relatively secluded cave, Ye Wan placed Xie Linchuan inside. After confirming that there was nothing unusual around him, she breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at his pale face, she knew that he would need more medicine and food to gradually recover his strength.

Xie Linchuan watched her busy figure, his eyes filled with gratitude and complex emotions. A faint smile played on his lips, and he said in a slightly trembling voice, "Ye Wan, this time... thank you."

Ye Wan paused and shook her head gently. "You're welcome. I know you. No matter what happens, I won't stand idly by." She looked at him gently, with unquestionable determination in her eyes. Xie Linchuan nodded slightly, a look of relief on his face.

Night fell over the valley, and the cave was silent, with only the sound of Ye Wan's footsteps echoing. She silently warned herself that no matter how dangerous the road ahead, she would stay by Xie Linchuan's side until he was safe.
