Guns and Coffee in the World of Science

Chapter 56: Crazy Moriya Emperor 2

Chen Shuo and Mao Lilan were sitting in the car discussing Conan. While waiting for the red light, they suddenly noticed Conan approaching quickly from the side on a bicycle. Chen Shuo's eyes flashed with surprise: "Conan? Why is he here?"

Conan didn't seem to see their car, and he stopped next to a taxi, quickly opened the door, and grabbed a cat carrier from an old lady. Xiaolan's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth and exclaimed: "What is he doing?"

Conan quickly opened the cat cage, checked it for a few seconds, then quickly put it back on, got on his bike, and sped away as if he was running for his life. Xiaolan and Chen Shuo were confused and looked at each other.

Before they could react, a few seconds later, a deafening bang erupted from the car window. A huge flame erupted from the empty riverbank in the distance, followed by a shockwave that pushed the entire car back several meters. Chen Shuo reacted quickly, clasping Xiaolan in his arms at the moment of the explosion, using his body to block the shockwave. After the explosion subsided, Chen Shuo gently let her go, a hint of worry in his eyes: "Xiaolan, are you okay?"

Mao Lilan's face turned slightly pale, and she nodded reluctantly: "I... I'm fine. Where's Conan? He seemed to be over there just now..."

After quickly checking her condition, Chen Shuo patted her hand soothingly and said, "Just stay in the car and don't move. I'll go check on the situation."

He immediately got out of the car and ran in the direction of the explosion. Smoke billowed from the riverbank, and the ground was covered with scattered debris and charred marks. Chen Shuo looked around, searching for Conan until he saw him lying on the ground under a tree. Conan's clothes were covered in dust, and his eyes were closed, obviously unconscious from the explosion.

Chen Shuo quickly squatted down and checked Conan's condition. He was relieved to find that he was only slightly injured. He carefully picked up Conan and murmured nervously, "Kid, what happened this time? You actually got yourself like this."

He didn't think any more and ran back to the car quickly with Conan in his arms. When Xiaolan saw them, her eyes were full of worry: "How is Conan? Is he okay?"

Chen Shuo handed Conan to Xiaolan and comforted him: "Don't worry, he just fainted. Let's take him to the hospital now, and we'll know when he wakes up."

Mao Lilan nodded, hugged Conan, and Chen Shuo quickly started the engine and drove towards the hospital.

Along the way, Chen Shuo was filled with anger. The explosion had nearly hit Xiaolan and himself. His murderous intent grew stronger. He secretly made up his mind: "This is definitely not something that can be solved by just shooting it!"

---

At the hospital, Conan was diagnosed with a mild concussion and fell unconscious after hitting his head on a tree. Fortunately, after examination, he was found to be fine and woke up soon after. Not long after, Maori Kogoro and Megure Juzo also arrived at the hospital with the police.

Chen Shuo looked at Conan seriously, his tone blaming him: "Why didn't you call the police directly when you encountered this situation? Do you know how dangerous this is?"

Conan lowered his head and was silent for a moment, then explained: "Things happened too quickly... The criminal made it clear from the beginning that his target was me... Shinichi brother, and he had been guiding me to the bomb location on the phone. The situation was urgent at the time, and I had no time to call the police."

Maori Kogoro frowned: "Kudo Shinichi? This guy is involved in the incident again? How much hatred does this person have that he actually wants to put Shinichi in danger! "

Conan smiled wryly and shook his head, then recounted the entire story. It all started with the phone call Conan received at Dr. Agasa's house. The voice on the phone claimed to be the criminal who stole explosives from the Oriental Powder Depot. He had first placed the first bomb in Green Park and given a child a remote-controlled airplane with a bomb attached. After Conan kicked the first bomb, he directed Conan to a central park, saying there was a second bomb there. Conan had no choice but to be led by the nose.

After hearing about Conan's experience, Chen Shuo relaxed his brows. It seemed that this kid really got into trouble this time.

Upon hearing this, Inspector Megure frowned, a hint of anger flashing in his eyes. "Is it the batch that was lost from the Toyo Powder Depot? This is troublesome. The amount of gunpowder in these two explosions is still far from the amount stolen. This means that the criminal has more bombs. If this continues, who knows how many bombs will threaten Tokyo."

When Chen Shuo heard this, his murderous intent grew stronger. Could the thief from the Japanese gunpowder depot be the criminal?

Conan's friends were now gathered around the bed, looking at him with worry. They were the children who had received the remote-controlled plane at Green Park—Genta, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi. Ayumi frowned and recalled, "I remember the man who gave us the remote-controlled plane had a very strange scent... but it wasn't makeup or cologne, I couldn't put my finger on it."

At that moment, Conan's phone suddenly rang. He picked up and heard a familiar, deep voice on the other end. The criminal challenged Kudo Shinichi again, sneering, "You're not going to show up at this hour? I'll give you a bigger challenge. I've planted five bombs on the Toudou Loop Line trains. If the train speed drops below 60 kilometers per hour or it gets dark, the bombs will detonate."

Kogoro Mouri snatched the phone angrily and shouted, "Enough! Your childish games are over, and it's time for the adults to deal with you!" His eyes were full of anger and determination.

The room erupted in chaos, everyone caught in a tizzy of tension and anger. Chen Shuo stood aside, watching the chaotic scene, secretly pondering his next move. He knew he wasn't good at reasoning, but he had his own way. So, he walked outside the ward, pulled out his phone, and prepared to dial a number, ready to take action.

At this moment, Ran Mouri came out with her three children. Seeing Ayumi, he suddenly remembered the strange fragrance she had described. A flash of inspiration struck him, and he remembered that when he was at Moriya Teiji's house, Moriya Teiji also had the aroma of burning pine wood. This smell is usually left after burning pine matches, and he vaguely remembered Moriya lighting cigarettes several times that day. Combined with the events that had occurred during this period, he could not help but recall Moriya Teiji's interest in and murderous intent towards Kudo Shinichi that day. All the clues seemed to gradually come together, forming a clear picture.

Chen Shuo narrowed his eyes slightly and sneered in his heart: Moriya Diji, I'm afraid this incident has something to do with you.

He put away his phone, took a deep breath, and quickly made up his mind. He no longer needed to wait for more clues because he had already locked on his suspect.

Chen Shuo's gentle smile returned to his face. He squatted down and said to the three children, "Go home quickly. Things are not peaceful in Tokyo lately, so don't go out and play again. Do you understand?"

Although Genta, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi were somewhat reluctant, they also realized the seriousness of the matter and nodded in agreement. Chen Shuo stood up and turned to Mao Lilan, with a somewhat gentle tone: "Xiaolan, you should go home first. I have some clues, and I will investigate next. If everything goes well, we can watch a movie together tonight."

Xiaolan hesitated for a moment and nodded: "Okay, Brother Shuo, then you must be careful. If you have any news, you must tell me."

Chen Shuo patted her shoulder gently and said softly, "Don't worry, I will pay attention."

As he watched the children and Xiaolan leave, Chen Shuo's expression gradually hardened. He walked out of the hospital and headed straight to the parking lot, started the engine, and drove to Moriya Teiji's home. On the way, his eyes were cold, his left hand tightly gripping the steering wheel, and his right hand pulled out his beloved Remington.

---

At the door of Moriya Teiji's house, Chen Shuo rang the doorbell. Not long after, Moriya Teiji came out to open the door himself. When he saw Chen Shuo standing at the door, a flash of surprise flashed in his eyes, followed by a hint of vigilance. Although he had only met Chen Shuo once, Chen Shuo's unique temperament and calm gaze left a deep impression on him. Moriya frowned slightly and asked, "Mr. Chen? You've come all of a sudden. What's the matter?"

Chen Shuo's eyes were stern. He didn't answer his question. Instead, he quickly pulled out a pistol and put the muzzle directly to Moriya's forehead. Moriya's expression changed, and a panicked look appeared on his face. He took a step back cautiously, and said in a low and uneasy voice: "What are you doing?!"

Chen Shuo sneered, his eyes sharp as a knife piercing Moriya, and whispered: "Come in obediently. We have something to talk about."

Moriya's pupils constricted slightly, clearly caught off guard by the sudden threat. However, he quickly regained composure, his expression regaining composure. He slowly stepped back, turned, and walked back into the room. Chen Shuo followed closely behind him, closing the door behind him. The entire room fell into a tense silence.

Moriya turned around and stared at Chen Shuo with a sneer on his face: "Mr. Chen, what's going on? I don't remember ever offending you."

Chen Shuo gripped the gun tightly in his hand, his voice low and cold: "Stop playing dumb. You know why I came here, so stop playing tricks on me. Today, you'd better tell the truth." His tone was intimidating, and he approached Moritani mercilessly, with a murderous look in his eyes.

Moriya was silent for a moment, a complex look flashing in his eyes. He had clearly not expected Chen Shuo to come so directly to threaten him. He realized the man before him was no pushover, so he could only tense up and prepare for the confrontation.

Even though Moriya Teiji had Chen Shuo's gun pressed against his forehead, he was no ordinary man. He managed to remain calm and said with a cold smile, "Why are you doing this? You have no reason to do this to me."

Chen Shuo sneered, his eyes flashing coldly. "Reason? The two explosions in Tokyo today, and the conspiracy against Kudo Shinichi—did you think no one would notice it was you? Stop making excuses, Moriya Teiji."

Moriya Teiji shuddered slightly, forced a cold smile, and pretended to be calm: "Mr. Chen, I don't know what you are talking about. Bomb? You have the wrong person!"

Chen Shuo stared at him indifferently, a hint of coldness in his eyes, and slowly said, "Oh? Wrong guy?" At this point, Chen Shuo shot Moriya Teiji in the shoulder. He looked at him mercilessly, clutching his wound and shouting, "I ask again, did I find the wrong guy?"

Moriya Teiji's expression froze instantly. After a moment, he no longer concealed it, revealing a wicked smile with a mad glint in his eyes. "Haha, that's right! I'm going to blow up those awful buildings! Those eyesores, those failed works, I want to completely destroy them! And Kudo Shinichi...that brat, he ruined the former mayor's plan, destroyed my hard work with his own hands, and actually dared to stop my dream of urban transformation? He deserves to die too!"

He sneered at Chen Shuo, his tone full of arrogance: "What about you? What evidence do you have? Without evidence, you can't do anything to me."

Chen Shuo stared at him with a cold smile on his face. He suddenly raised his foot and kicked Moriya's knee hard. There was a crisp sound of bone cracking. Moriya screamed in pain. His legs were kicked off and he collapsed to the ground, struggling in pain. Chen Shuo lowered his head, looking down at him condescendingly, and said coldly, "You've made a mistake, Moriya Teiji. I'm not a police officer, and I don't need any evidence."

Moriya's face was pale, sweat dripping down his forehead. He raised his head with difficulty to look at Chen Shuo, his eyes filled with pain and despair. But Chen Shuo's gaze was devoid of pity; he knew the man before him was unworthy of forgiveness. Moriya Teiji wanted to say something more, but the pain made him speechless, so he could only grit his teeth and endure.

Chen Shuo stared coldly at Moriya Teiji lying on the ground, his tone carrying a hint of ruthlessness. "Originally, this matter had nothing to do with me, but your first bomb ruined my happy mood, and the second bomb almost affected me. So, don't even think about leaving alive today."

Moriya Teiji looked at Chen Shuo's merciless eyes and was completely desperate. However, a crazy smile appeared on his face, as if he realized that his end was coming. He laughed loudly and looked at Chen Shuo with a ferocious look: "Hahaha, what can you do if you kill me? Do you think my plan is so simple? I have more bombs, all placed in the Beika City Hall! The other day I heard your female companion Mao Lilan said that she wanted to go to the movies, and there is only one movie theater in Nishitama City - Beika City Hall."

He narrowed his eyes sinisterly and asked sarcastically, "Where is Mao Lilan now? Will she also pay the price for this?"

Chen Shuo's heart suddenly sank, and a hint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes. Without hesitation, he raised his gun to Moriya Teiji's head and pulled the trigger. The gunshot echoed in the room, and Moriya Teiji fell to the ground, finally ending his madness.

Chen Shuo didn't stop, he quickly took out his cell phone and dialed Mao Lilan's number. Although he had asked Mao Lilan to go home when he was in the hospital, he was still filled with a bad premonition. After the call was connected, he quickly asked, "Xiao Lan! Where are you now?"

Xiaolan's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Brother Shuo? I thought about what you said about resolving the incident quickly, so I came to the City Hall to buy movie tickets first... I'm at the entrance of the cinema now and just bought the tickets..."

"Get out of there! Xiaolan, leave now!" Chen Shuo's heart tightened, his voice filled with obvious anxiety. Before Xiaolan could respond, he suddenly heard a loud explosion from the other end of the line, and then the call was disconnected and hung up.

Chen Shuo froze, his fingers gripping the phone stiff, his heart pounding. He turned hastily, rushed to his car, started the engine, and sped towards the Beihua City Hall, his heart filled with anger and worry. No matter what happened, he had to ensure Mao Lilan's safety.

As the car sped out, his eyes became more and more panicked: "Xiaolan, you must be okay!"
