Guns and Coffee in the World of Science

Chapter 20 Dorobiga Paradise

Dorobiga Land, a newly opened theme park in Tokyo, has become a huge hit, captivating visitors with its world-first rides and technologically advanced facilities. The expansive park is filled with laughter, and the colorful carousels, thrilling roller coasters, and intricately themed buildings are sure to captivate visitors.

As soon as the group entered the park, they were swept by the joyful atmosphere. Kogoro Mouri surveyed his surroundings with great interest. Despite his age, his innate curiosity instilled in him a genuine interest in anything new. Eri Kisaki, holding Ran Mouri's hand, wore a rare, relaxed smile. Suzuki Sonoko, completely captivated by the park's atmosphere, chattered like an excited little bird, sharing her plans for the rides with Ran Mouri.

"Lan, let's go ride the roller coaster first! Then the rapids, and that huge Ferris wheel... Oh my God, I really want to ride them all at once!" Yuanzi's eyes were shining with excitement, and even his speech speed was twice as fast as usual.

Mao Lilan looked at the happy Sonoko and couldn't help but smile: "Okay, okay, we will listen to you today and have a good time!"

"Huh, what a child." Maori Kogoro sighed in a mature manner as he looked at the excited Suzuki Sonoko, but he couldn't hide the smile in his eyes. "But since you're here today, let's have fun!"

"Don't say one thing and mean another." Kisaki Eri gently poked Maori Kogoro's shoulder and teased, "You obviously want to play too, right?"

Maori Kogoro was embarrassed when his thoughts were exposed: "No, no! I only came here to play with Ran reluctantly."

Kisaki Eri couldn't help laughing and shook her head slightly: "Okay, okay, whatever you say. But today I hope you can behave yourself a little and stop causing trouble for everyone."

"You're so long-winded..." Maori Kogoro was about to retort when he suddenly realized that his wife was showing concern for him, both overtly and covertly. He was speechless and could only cough lightly and change the subject awkwardly: "Well, where should we go first?"

"Let's go ride the roller coaster first!" Suzuki Sonoko pointed excitedly at the nearby high-altitude roller coaster track, where a long line had already formed. Her eyes were full of eagerness to try it out.

"Roller coaster..." Maori Kogoro's face suddenly turned ugly, as if he was shrouded by some invisible pressure. He reached out and pulled his collar, hesitatingly saying, "Well... Actually, I think we should go try some lighter rides first, like a carousel or something..."

"Merry-go-round? Uncle Maori, you're kidding, right?" Suzuki Sonoko said in disbelief. "You want to try something like that, something only kids can play on?"

"Who says that's only for kids?" Maori Kogoro said, trying to find a way down. "Merry-go-rounds are so romantic, aren't they?"

"Hahaha, I guess you're afraid to ride a roller coaster, right?" Kisaki Eri laughed so hard, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Kogoro, are you afraid?"

"You must be joking!" Maori Kogoro felt his sore spot touched. He quickly put on a righteous look and puffed out his chest and said, "How could I be scared? I'm just... I'm just worried that Lan will feel uncomfortable playing this with you guys!"

"It's okay, Dad. Mom and I both want to play!" Mao Lilan smiled mischievously, with a hint of encouragement in her tone, "How about Dad and Mom take a ride on the roller coaster together? This is a rare opportunity!"

Seeing Maori Kogoro's embarrassment, Kisaki Eri felt a little sorry for him, so she patted his arm gently and said, "Kogoro, don't force yourself. If you really don't want to sit, then we'll go and do something else with you."

Upon hearing this, Maori Kogoro's face showed gratitude, but he still said stubbornly: "How could I be scared? Let's go! Sit down! Who's afraid of who!"

"This is the Uncle Mori I know!" Suzuki Sonoko immediately cheered, dragging Maori Kogoro towards the roller coaster queue. Everyone chatted and laughed as they joined the queue.

Chen Shuo followed along, a faint smile on his face. It looked like today would be a relaxing day. Suddenly, his gaze suddenly stopped in a certain direction ahead. His eyes froze for a moment, then quickly returned to composure.

Not far ahead of the line, two men in black stood in the crowd, silently queuing. Those familiar figures, their stern faces, were Gin and Vodka. They seemed to sense Chen Shuo's gaze. Gin tilted his head slightly, his cold gaze lingering on Chen Shuo for a moment before he raised his hand to adjust the brim of his hat and lowered his head slightly.

Chen Shuo nodded faintly in response. It looked like that organization was taking action here today, but nothing dangerous was going to happen. After all, Gin would never act rashly in such a public place.

Kudo Shinichi saw all of this. He frowned, his gaze warily scanning the two men in black, perceiving a dangerous aura from them. Even more unsettling was the fact that Chen Shuo seemed to have some kind of tacit understanding with them. This covert communication set off alarm bells in Kudo Shinichi's heart, and he once again began to doubt Chen Shuo's identity.

"Shinichi, what's wrong with you?" Ran Mouri noticed something unusual about Kudo Shinichi, gently touched his arm, and asked with concern.

"Ah, nothing." Kudo Shinichi came back to his senses and gave a forced smile.

Mao Lilan followed his gaze but didn't see anything unusual. She only saw tourists standing in line at the front chatting and laughing. She frowned and asked in confusion, "Shinichi, are you overthinking it again? We all came out today to relax."

"But..." Kudo Shinichi was about to say something, but he swallowed it back. He knew that he had already upset everyone because of Chen Shuo's matter, and saying more would only make Mao Li Ran angrier.

Seeing Kudo Shinichi compromise, Mao Lilan breathed a sigh of relief. But she didn't feel relieved at all. Instead, she felt a sense of inexplicable fatigue and loss. Ever since she met Kudo Shinichi, he seemed to be always immersed in his own world, constantly reasoning and analyzing, but rarely truly caring about the feelings of those around him.

In contrast, Chen Shuo's maturity, composure, thoughtfulness, and care put her at ease. He wasn't paranoid about himself, didn't unreasonably doubt others, and certainly didn't boast about his abilities regardless of the situation. He was like a stable rock in her life, always by her side, offering her unspoken support and comfort, no matter what.

Mao Lilan couldn't help but compare the two people.

Kudo Shinichi is incredibly intelligent and possesses unparalleled deductive reasoning skills, but he often neglects the feelings of others. He always seems to prioritize solving cases and uncovering the truth over staying by her side. He always disappears during important moments, and even now, when they're together, his thoughts are mostly elsewhere.

Chen Shuo, however, was different. He might not be as bright as Kudo Shinichi, but he never showed off. Although much older than me, he seemed more mature and steady. He was always there for me, quietly by my side, gentle yet resolute. Even when I was occasionally upset, he always found the perfect comfort. He was considerate and attentive, caring for others, and never made me feel uncomfortable. Every time I was with Chen Shuo, I felt relaxed, as if nothing in the world was unsolvable.

Compared with the two, Kudo Shinichi is not comparable at all.

Mao Lilan was suddenly startled, realizing that her thoughts were somewhat dangerous. She shouldn't compare Shinichi and Chen Shuo in this way. But she couldn't ignore the inexplicable feeling she had - the long-lost sense of security and dependence when she was with Chen Shuo.

Thinking of this, she couldn't help but blush, and quickly looked away, no longer looking at Chen Shuo's back.

At that moment, Chen Shuo was engaged in a lively conversation with Suzuki Sonoko. Sonoko spoke eloquently about the park's plans and her expectations for the attractions, while Chen Shuo interjected occasionally, his tone gentle and slightly teasing. The two were deeply engaged in the conversation, completely immersed in the relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

"Great! We must have a great time this time!" Yuanzi was so happy that she almost jumped up.

Kudo Shinichi stood beside Mao Lilan, who was staring at Chen Shuo in deep thought, looking a little awkward and uneasy. His eyes fell on Chen Shuo and Mao Lilan from time to time, and the inexplicable irritation in his heart once again surged in his heart.

As everyone was enthusiastically discussing their next move, the line for the roller coaster gradually moved toward the entrance. As Maori Kogoro saw himself getting closer and closer to the seemingly dangerous ride, he couldn't help but start to hesitate. He forced a smile, trying to hide his uneasiness. "How about you guys go ahead and I'll take your picture."

"Come on, husband!" Kisaki Eri took Maori Kogoro's arm and said with a smile, "It's a rare opportunity to go out and have fun, how can we not try this?"

Then she covered her mouth and chuckled, grinning wickedly: "Oh? Detective Kogoro, you're still scared after all!"

Kogoro Mouri seemed to have found courage in an instant after hearing his wife's teasing. He puffed out his chest and said, "How is that possible? It's just a roller coaster. Look how I conquer it!" His voice was full of momentum, and it would be even more convincing if you ignored his trembling legs.

"Speaking of the most amazing thing about Sherlock Holmes..." Kudo Shinichi was still telling the story of Sherlock Holmes to Mouri Ran. He didn't care whether Mouri liked it or not. He just wanted to impose his world on Ran.

Chen Shuo glanced at the two people behind him, with a bit of helplessness in his eyes. He had thought that he would never hand Mao Lilan over to Kudo boy, but in the end... it seemed that he didn't need to intervene at all...
