Daily life in the academy

Chapter 50 "Candlelight Night Talk"

Number 98 of Class A was in front, bidding farewell to Mu Bailian and Wenzhe. Only Bai Zhi and Yan Qingchen were left, and the place suddenly became much quieter.

Bai Zhi glanced at Yan Qingchen, who was silent beside her, and asked, "Sir, which room do you live in?"

Yan Qingchen remained noncommittal: "In front, we'll be there soon."

"Oh."

Arriving at the door of No. 103 Jiazi, Bai Zhi skipped forward, opened the door and walked in. She turned and waved to Yan Qingchen outside, saying, "I'm here. You can find a room by yourself from now on."

After she finished speaking, she was about to close the door, but was stopped by two of Yan Qingchen's servants, one on the left and one on the right.

Bai Zhi was puzzled: "Prince, what else is there?"

Yan Qingchen threw the crumpled piece of paper in his hand over: "I live here."

These four short words struck Bai Zhi like thunder.

She stood there in a daze, allowing Yan Qingchen to push her away with his index finger and walk straight in.

The banging and clanging sounds inside the house formed a sharp contrast with the clatter of Bai Zhi at the door.

While the two servants were rearranging the room, Yan Qingchen saw her still standing stupidly at the door and couldn't help but ask, "How long are you going to stand there?"

Bai Zhi's mind was a mess. She slowly turned around and looked at Yan Qingchen, who was leisurely sitting at the table drinking tea. She forced a smile and said, "Prince, so you live here too?"

Yan Qingchen raised his eyebrows slightly and asked instead of answering, "Why? You don't welcome me?"

"No, no." Bai Zhi waved her hands repeatedly. She quickly walked to the chair next to Yan Qingchen and sat down, expressing her loyalty: "I am a little flattered. I really didn't expect that a commoner like me, Bai Zhi, could live in the same room with the dignified Prince of Ning."

Help...She is a woman and her identity must not be revealed!

Yan Qingchen put down the teacup, tapped the table with his fingers, and turned his gaze to the two servants who were tidying up.

Bai Zhi glanced at the teacup that originally made the room uncomfortable, then glanced at the two servants, and blurted out: "This teacup and those things are not from the dormitory, right?"

"I'm not used to other tea sets. These are what they carry with them."

"They...don't live here too?"

One of the servants finished his work and came over with a smile: "Don't worry, we are just helping the prince to clean up. The academy has arranged accommodation for us next door. Just call us if you need anything."

Bai Zhi's eyes widened: "So there's no one next door all the time, is it specially prepared for you?"

"I don't know if there was anyone there before, but Master Xie told the prince about the matter of living in the academy at noon. These were all discussed between the prince and the master."

"I see."

Just to explain why Yan Qingchen was so calm, it turned out he had known it for a long time.

Normally, after school, Bai Zhi would put her books away in the dormitory and go to the dining hall to get food. Now that Yan Qingchen had come with the academy's favoritism towards him, she was inexplicably moved when she looked at the five dishes in front of her.

There is meat to eat and handsome men to admire every day.

Maybe... if she were more careful, she might live a more comfortable life.

All it takes to go from going crazy to accepting it is actually just one meal...four dishes and one soup.

There was one more person in the room. There was a desk between the two beds, which was already filled with Yan Qingchen's books. He was sitting in front of the desk, concentrating on reading.

Bai Zhi saw that he had finished his tea. If she called the servant, she might disturb him, so she stepped forward and replaced the boiled water in his teapot, and poured another glass of water and placed it beside him.

Yan Qingchen, who was used to being served, habitually picked up the teacup and took a sip. Only then did he notice something unusual and looked up to see a smiling face.

"Sir, drinking tea at night can cause insomnia. Water is more thirst-quenching."

Yan Qingchen was stunned, but did not say a word. He just nodded and continued reading.

...

Day 2, martial arts class

There has been unrest in Sheng'an City recently, so Fu Lang has paid more attention to their health, especially Bai Zhi's thin body, which has become the focus of his attention.

By the end of class, Bai Zhi felt as if all her strength had been drained from her body. She just wanted to get back to the classroom as soon as possible to have a good rest, and did not wait for the two people behind her.

As soon as he reached the front of Hall A, he was stopped by Ye Yanliang.

"Brother Bai, wait."

Bai Zhi's face immediately filled with smiles: "Brother Ye, long time no see."

"I heard that things have been going on in Sheng'an City recently... I haven't seen you in a while, and I was a little worried about your safety. Now I'm glad to see that you're okay. But why do you look so tired?"

"Don't mention it." Bai Zhi waved her hand weakly. "Master Fu felt that I wasn't strong enough, so he paid special attention to me."

Ye Yanliang glanced back, but Bai Zhi didn't notice.

"Brother Bai, I heard that you're living in the same room with Prince Yan now. Rumor has it that Prince Yan...are you okay?"

"Brother Ye, you said it was just a rumor? Look, I'm fine now. Thank you for your concern."

Bai Zhi was really tired. Her mind was racing, trying to think of an excuse to leave when a familiar voice came from behind her.

"Azhi, why are you still here?" Mu Bailian's noisy voice was very distinctive.

Ye Yanliang's expression tightened, and he said hurriedly, "Then Brother Bai, let's talk about it another day."

Bai Zhi waved at him and said, "We'll talk some other day."

Yan Qingchen frowned slightly as he watched Ye Yanliang's back as he walked faster and faster.

In the evening, it was time for the two of them to read by lantern light.

Yan Qingchen knocked on the table. Bai Zhi saw that the handsome scholar was very excited, so she suddenly looked up at him and tilted her head in confusion.

"water."

Bai Zhi took a moment to react before realizing that he was asking her to pour some water.

It's really a hard life...

She resigned herself to her fate and climbed out of bed, poured some clean water and handed it over.

Yan Qingchen took it and took a sip, then asked: "The rumors that Ye Yanliang mentioned today, the rumors about me... haven't you paid attention to them?" The four words "about him" were spoken with a particularly heavy tone.

Bai Zhi was still thinking about the scene of the beautiful girl teasing the scholar, so it took her a little longer to react to his words.

So...is now the time for the candlelight chat that Mu Bailian has been longing for?

Although Yan Qingchen's eyes never left the book in his hand, Bai Zhi knew that he was listening carefully with his ear tilted.

Bai Zhi pulled a stool over and sat down in front of the desk, engaging in conversation.

"If I say I haven't paid attention to it, I'd be lying."

Yan Qingchen glanced at her and quickly looked away.

Bai Zhi saw all his little movements. After all, he was still a young man and was very curious.

Looking at the left ear that was about to come closer, Bai Zhi pursed her lips to suppress her laughter, cleared her throat, and said, "It's not advisable to just follow the crowd."

Yan Qingchen pressed on, "Then how do you know if the rumors are true or not, and if I'm... not putting on an act?"
