Female Master: Why doesn’t my wife love me yet?

Chapter 16: Learning the basics is enough

General Gu heard the noise outside and came out. When he saw Eunuch Li, he greeted him.

"Thank you, Eunuch Li."

Hearing General Gu's words, Eunuch Li quickly said, "No, no, it's all from your Majesty's heart."

Then he asked people to move all the things in, and the yard looked a little crowded for a while.

They were said to be gifts for their house, but in fact most of the things were for Wen Shubai. He grew up in the palace since he was a child, so naturally he had the best food, clothing and other necessities.

Fearing that he would not be used to the General's Mansion, His Majesty would send things to the Mansion every once in a while.

They all understood this in their hearts.

After Eunuch Li and his group left, General Gu had the things for Wen Shubai delivered to Gu Qingyuan's yard, and then he put away the rest.

After delivering the things, Yu Shui said happily to Wen Shubai: "Master, you see, even if you get married, our emperor will still love you."

Wen Shubai looked at these things without much reaction. He just nodded and said, "I know, and I'm afraid it was my father who mentioned it to my mother. Otherwise, she would be so busy, how could she think of me?"

"Master, I'm afraid what you said is not quite right. Everyone knows that you are the youngest prince, and His Majesty has been kind to you since you were young."

Wen Shubai curled the corners of his mouth and didn't explain anything further to Yu Shui.

If she was good to him, why would she marry him to the general's mansion against his will? Weren't his several royal brothers also married to other people by his mother in order to consolidate her power?

He picked out a few of the things sent by the emperor and gave them to Yu Shui, asking him to go back and see the other people in Gu Qingyuan's yard and give them to them.

Then he thought about it again and sent some things to Zhuyuan and Lanyuan to show his generosity.

Ji Mingzhao looked at the things that Wen Shubai had sent to him, which were personally presented by the emperor, and felt like they were hot potatoes. These were originally given by the emperor to his son, but he didn't expect that he could also get some of them.

I was both surprised and touched.

After resting for a few days, Gu Qingyuan felt that her injuries had healed much better, so she immediately went to find Xia Zhi to continue practicing martial arts.

During the two days of recuperation in his own yard, Gu Qingyuan asked Chunfen to go out and buy some books to learn about the things of this era.

Arriving at an open space, Xia Zhi asked, "Young Master, are you sure your current physical condition allows you to continue practicing?"

Gu Qingyuan nodded and said, "I'm sure. Let's continue today."

Xia Zhi: “Okay.”

Since Gu Qingyuan said so, Xia Zhi had nothing to say. As usual, he asked Gu Qingyuan to do some warm-up exercises and then started practicing martial arts.

When he did the horse stance again, Gu Qingyuan had become much more stable. After an hour, he was not even breathing hard and his body was much more stable.

Xia Zhi felt very pleased seeing this. She was indeed General Gu's daughter. Maybe in time she would be able to have General Gu's style.

Xia Zhi held a sword in her hand. She made a move, and Gu Qingyuan followed suit. Xia Zhi then instructed her, "Yes, you have to move faster... don't give the enemy time to react."

"What about this?"

Gu Qingyuan retracted his sword, pulled it out again and stabbed forward. When the two were practicing in full swing, General Gu suddenly appeared.

Gu Qingyuan had no time to retract the sword he had extended, and it was about to hurt General Gu, but General Gu stretched out two fingers and clamped the tip of Gu Qingyuan's sword.

"Mom, are you okay?"

Gu Qingyuan was worried that she would make her mother's hand bleed, but General Gu just shook his head and said, "I'm fine. I just happened to have some free time today to come out and see how your training is going."

General Gu said to Xia Zhi, "Go to the side and rest first. I will teach her myself."

Xia Zhi stepped aside. Gu Qingyuan looked at General Gu with some excitement. Finally, her mother was going to teach her herself! Even if she could only learn the basics, that would be enough.

Xia Zhi looked at the excitement in Gu Qingyuan's eyes and mourned for her in silence. He was afraid that the young master didn't know what was going to happen. General Gu was even more ruthless than her. If General Gu taught her personally, the suffering she would endure would not be less than what he had to endure.

And things turned out pretty much as Xia Zhi had expected. Originally, Gu Qingyuan was able to take two of Xia Zhi's moves and was complacent about her progress. But when she fought with her mother, she found that she was completely at the mercy of others and had no power to fight back at all.

Moreover, she had a weapon in her hand, but her mother fought her with bare hands.

Gu Qingyuan felt a little frustrated. General Gu's attacks became faster and faster. He said to her, "Don't be afraid of hurting me. Use all your strength."

Gu Qingyuan: "...Mom, I really have used all my strength."

General Gu: "Really? Just now I thought you were afraid of hurting me so you didn't dare to attack me."

Xia Zhi watched with his arms folded across his chest, a look of schadenfreude on his face. You know, when they were training with General Gu, they were often beaten by General Gu so badly that they couldn't get out of bed, but they still had to come out for training the next day.

General Gu was able to sit in this position entirely because of his strength. She had followed General Gu to the battlefield. General Gu was really not afraid of death. He was not panicked even when fighting against a hundred people alone, and his attacks were extremely ruthless.

Seeing Gu Qingyuan fighting with General Gu at a loss, she seemed to see herself when she first started learning martial arts.

Half an hour passed, and Gu Qingyuan was forced to retreat step by step. General Gu looked at her like this, withdrew his hand and said, "Take a break."

Gu Qingyuan put down his sword as if relieved and flattered General Gu.

"Mom, you are truly brave and extraordinary. I really admire you!"

General Gu glanced at her and said, "Don't try to be so rude. I think Xia Zhi isn't being ruthless enough with you. How about this? I'll add an extra hour to your training from now on."

I thought she would improve after training, but I didn't expect that she only used 30% of her strength and Qing Yuan was unable to withstand it.

"If you could practice with me since childhood..."

General Gu sighed and continued, "But it's not too late to start now. In three months at most, you'll be able to stand on your own."

Throughout the day, General Gu was teaching Gu Qingyuan martial arts and also passing on some of his own experiences.

"There are no fixed moves. You need to observe your opponent's weaknesses."

Gu Qingyuan nodded and wrote it down in his mind in a small notebook.

Gu Qingyuan practiced until dark before going back to rest. After eating, he fell asleep immediately.

This day was really tiring.

After Wen Shubai finished drinking the medicine, he felt an extremely bitter taste in his mouth. Yu Shui brought some candied fruit, and after eating it, he casually asked, "Is the young master back?"

"The young master has returned a long time ago and is now asleep."

The candied fruit in my mouth didn't seem so sweet anymore. She didn't even come to see me when she came back. It seemed that it was probably because of what I said.

"Master, do you want to eat more?" Yu Shui asked while holding the candied fruit. Wen Shubai shook his head and rinsed his mouth with clean water.
