Tao Yao was a little surprised to see Xia Yanhong again - she seemed to have aged a lot more than last time.

Chu Huanjun didn't take off his mask, but Xia Yanhong recognized him immediately and came forward to hand him the menu: "Your Highness, is it still the same as before?"

Chu Huanjun put down the menu and said, "I've already eaten. Just some tea and snacks will be fine. We're here to watch a play today."

"I understand." Xia Yanhong bowed slightly and went downstairs with her sleeves gathered.

Tao Yao felt a little strange and asked in a low voice, "Xiao Chu, why is Hong Gu acting so strangely today?"

"Really? Maybe you're overthinking it."

The private room they sat in this time was different from the last time. It was an extremely small private room, very secluded. There was a small window on the wall facing the center of Chunfeng Tower.

A thick layer of gauze was nailed on the windows, and several layers of curtains were hung inside and outside. Looking out from the window, one could see the entire Chunfeng Tower, but from outside the window, one could definitely not see a single insect or fly inside.

Chu Huanjun rested half of his arm on the table, half of his face supported by his hand, looking bored. He casually grabbed a handful of pearl curtain strings from the window and started playing with them in his hand.

Compared to his leisurely and comfortable attitude, Tao Yao, who was sitting across the table, seemed a little uneasy.

She wrapped herself in three layers of black gauze inside and outside like a dumpling. Sitting in this airtight little box, she felt so stuffy that she had to grab the black cloth on her veil and use it as a fan.

Chu Huanjun smiled and said, "It's hidden here, don't worry."

In order to reassure her, Chu Huanjun took off his fox mask and turned it upside down on the table.

Tao Yao thought about it, then stood up and walked around the box three times. After making sure that the place was indeed hidden and safe, she took off her veil and hat, revealing a sweaty face.

Chu Huanjun smiled and called out to Xia Yanhong, "Auntie Hong, bring me two more handkerchiefs, one dry and one wet."

Soon, the tea and silk handkerchiefs were served. Tao Yao was pleasantly surprised to find that the tea was the Longjing tea cake that she had praised to Chu Huanjun last time.

Tao Yao grabbed a silk handkerchief and carelessly wiped it across her forehead. As she wiped the sweat off her face, she grabbed three Longjing tea cakes and tossed them into her mouth, swallowing them whole in two gulps. She praised them repeatedly, "Longjing tea cakes! Finally, I get to eat them again! They're still so delicious!"

"This Longjing tea cake is produced in Hangzhou. Because it is too far from the capital, the goods are scarce. When you marry in Jiangnan and live closer to Hangzhou, it will be much easier for you to eat this thing."

Chu Huanjun pushed a plate of Phoenix Tail Pastry in front of Tao Yao and said, "This is Phoenix Tail Pastry, a special supply from the capital. You won't be able to eat it after you leave."

After hearing what he said, Tao Yao quickly threw back the few pieces of Longjing tea cakes she had just picked up, and picked up a Fengwei cake to taste carefully.

Perhaps the taste of the Longjing tea pastry she had just eaten was diluted, Taoyao could not taste what was special about the Phoenix Tail Pastry.

Chu Huanjun poured her a cup of strong tea and said, "Drink some tea to wake you up. It's time to watch the show soon."

During every festival, every music house in the capital would arrange opera programs to attract guests to watch. If a music house could arrange a popular play, it would attract several times more guests than usual, and would make its own music house more famous, thereby increasing its income by a lot.

There are countless singing and dancing halls in the capital, but the most popular one is Chunfeng Tower.

Tonight, Chunfeng Tower will perform "The Fox Fairy Chronicles," a play written by the community's most renowned poet and led by the tower's most popular dancer, An Jingshuang. Ten days before the Lantern Festival, Chunfeng Tower had spread the news of the upcoming performance of "The Fox Fairy Chronicles" throughout the streets and alleys.

Tonight, "Fox Fairy Record" will be performed on stage for the first time, and it is attracting everyone's attention.

Tao Yao peered down from the small window and was surprised to find that their box was strategically located, allowing them to see the entire stage. At that moment, all the lights in Chunfeng Tower were dimmed, and everyone waited with bated breath for the show to begin.

In the deep darkness, all was silent, as if no one was around. The skylight on the roof was wide open, revealing a bright moon hanging in the sky. Its light was like a streak of silk, casting tiny specks of Milky Way light down below.

The figure at the center of the stage was gradually illuminated by the bright moonlight. An Jingshuang was clad in a snow-white robe, reflecting the rippling moonlight, as if she were covered in a moon-like frost.

The music of the sheng and xiao gradually rose, the lights brightened, and An Jingshuang twirled in the center of the stage, twirling to the rhythm of the music. Her feet were bare, and red bells were tied around her ankles. As she rose and fell, the sound jingled like shattered ice and falling jade, and each dance move was a perfect musical note.

She raised her long sleeves, and the other end suddenly fell into the hands of a handsome man. The male dancer was wearing a robe as red as a blazing flame. He had a nine-tailed horsetail tied behind him, and he was holding Ringo in his arms. His gentle eyes were fixed on An Jingshuang.

The Chunfenglou play, "The Fox Fairy Chronicles," also tells the story of Yao Zhuo and Chang Yu. However, its content seems different from the version told in Chu Huanjun's storybook. It tells the story of Yao Zhuo and Chang Yu's love, and how one demon and one fairy, regardless of all difficulties and dangers, transcend the laws of heaven and earth, just to stay together forever.

Yao Zhuo in this play does not ascend to heaven to attain enlightenment, but to pursue the one he loves; and Chang Yu is not a noble and heartless immortal, but a passionate man who is willing to accept heaven's punishment and fall into the devil for the one he loves.

The play vividly portrayed the story of unrequited love and the lingering sorrow. In the end, Chang Yu, played by the male dancer, was finally defeated by the heavenly soldiers and generals, weeping and bleeding, and collapsed in a pool of blood. Behind him, the nine-tailed fox spirit had once been so proud, but it had disappeared.

Yao Zhuo, played by An Jingshuang, after experiencing so much, still dances on the pool of blood of her beloved, singing and weeping, her original snow-white robe gradually dyed blood red, and her fluttering sleeves are like flaming clouds, outlining the blood-red setting sun in the dark night.

There was a sigh from the audience, and everyone was shocked by this thrilling love story between an immortal and a demon.

What is spectacular is that near the end of the performance, Yao Zhuo, who was constantly dancing in the pool of blood, blossomed with every step. Every step sounded like the sound of a silver bell, and every step the blood rippled into flowers, and a large field of red spider lilies bloomed on the stage.

Tao Yao stared at the sea of red spider lilies blooming on the stage in amazement, and asked in surprise, "How did they do that?!"

Chu Huanjun just smiled and said, "I said that the most valuable things in Chunfeng Tower are far more than what you see."

Tao Yao recalled that An Jingshuang had previously poisoned Lu Che with blood to make him faint, and the scene before her was set against a large pool of blood, so she was afraid that there was something else going on.

"Could it be her blood?"

Tao Yao found it a little hard to believe, but the scene before her was like an illusion and could not be explained by common sense.

Chu Huanjun calmly picked up the teacup and sipped it carefully, saying calmly, "It's just a play. As long as it's exciting, why bother to dwell on it?"

But the next scene made Tao Yao unable to calm down anymore.
