A glimmer of hope

That crack, like a split in the clouds during a violent storm, revealed a faint ray of light. I almost doubted my own eyes; the light was so weak, it seemed as if it would be swallowed up by endless darkness in the next second.

Hao Yang was still lying on the ground, his face as pale as paper, his lips bloodless, his shirt stained red with blood. I could even feel his faint breathing, like a candle in the wind, ready to go out at any moment.

"Yaoyao, don't...care about me..." He uttered a few words with difficulty, his voice as thin as a thread.

My heart felt like it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, the pain was so severe that I could hardly breathe. No, I couldn't give up, absolutely not!

I suppressed the surging blood in my body and stared at that glimmer of light. It was our only hope!

That flaw, hidden where the dark forces surged most violently, was like the gaping maw of a giant beast. If I wasn't careful, I'd be devoured mercilessly. But I had no way out. For Hao Yang, I had to fight with all my might!

I took a deep breath and mobilized the remaining spiritual power in my body, as if grabbing the last straw, concentrating all my strength on that little glimmer of light.

"What are you doing?" Wei Qing noticed that something was wrong with me, but she didn't notice that little glimmer of light and just thought I was still struggling in vain.

I ignored her. All my attention was focused on that little glimmer of light. Fine beads of sweat oozed out of my forehead and my body trembled slightly due to the excessive use of spiritual power.

"Give up, Wei Yao, you can't possibly..." Wei Qing's voice stopped abruptly, and she seemed to sense something was wrong.

The corners of my mouth curled up into a cold smile, "It's too late to realize it now..."

Seeing that I had suddenly stopped resisting, Wei Qing assumed I had finally resigned myself to my fate. She laughed triumphantly, her sharp voice like the cry of a night owl, stinging my eardrums. "What? Are you scared now? It's too late. Just surrender!"

I turned a deaf ear to the sound, my whole mind focused on that tiny glimmer of light. I could feel it gradually expanding, like a spark about to set the whole field ablaze.

Hao Shuang and Wei Xue weren't as optimistic as Wei Qing. They were wary of me, and seeing my strange expression, they couldn't help but slow down their pace. "Don't waste time talking to her, let's end this quickly!" Hao Shuang said fiercely, gathering a ball of black flame in his hand and suddenly attacking me.

The black flames, with their scorching heat, rushed towards me, and I could even smell the stench of burning flesh. But I remained motionless, as if I had been petrified.

"You overestimate your abilities!" Wei Xue sneered, and an ice sword appeared in her hand and pierced my heart.

At the critical moment, I finally moved. I no longer tried to resist the overwhelming dark force, but instead followed the direction of that force, completely exposing myself to their attack.

"She's crazy!" Wei Qing exclaimed, not understanding why I wanted to commit suicide.

Hao Shuang and Wei Xue were also startled by my actions, but the speed of their attack did not slow down at all, but instead increased a bit.

Just as the black flames and the cold sword tip were about to touch my body, I suddenly opened my eyes, and a gleam of light flashed in my eyes.

"Now!" I shouted softly, pouring all the spiritual power that I had accumulated for a long time into that little bit of light.

A dazzling white light shot up into the sky, like a sleeping dragon finally awakening. The entire world changed color in that moment. I felt a powerful force gushing out from that tiny glimmer of light, swallowing me and everything around me...

"What's going on?!" Wei Qing's terrified scream was drowned out by a white light...

The white light faded, and I found myself in chaos. Everything around me was twisting and deforming, as if it would collapse at any moment. The intense pain made it almost impossible to breathe, but I dared not relax for a moment, because I knew the battle was not over yet.

"Now!" an old voice rang out in my ears, a mixture of anxiety and relief. I looked in the direction of the voice and saw an old man in a gray robe standing not far away. His hair and beard were white, and his figure was hunched, yet he exuded a powerful aura of pressure.

Before I could even ask, the old man formed seals with his hands and muttered something. An invisible force spread out, and the surrounding scene changed. The dark force that had once blanketed the sky seemed to have met its nemesis, and began to violently tumble, revealing tiny cracks.

"That is..." I widened my eyes in surprise. Behind those cracks, I vaguely saw another world, which was full of light and vitality, and was incompatible with this chaotic world.

"That's the way out." The old man seemed to see through my thoughts and said in a deep voice, "Girl, seize the opportunity and rush out!"

I took a deep breath and cautiously approached the flaw. Every step forward put me under tremendous pressure, and the pain in my body almost made me faint. But when I thought about Hao Yang's life or death, I gritted my teeth and persevered. I must not give up, even if there was only a glimmer of hope!

Just as I was about to touch the flaw, a strong sense of crisis surged in my heart. I looked up suddenly and saw that Wei Qing had stood in front of me without me noticing. Her eyes were red, her face was full of ferocity, and a ball of black energy was gathered in her hand, smashing towards me fiercely.

"Go to hell!" Wei Qing's angry roar exploded in my ears, making my eardrums buzz.

"Not good!" The old man's face changed drastically. He wanted to help, but it was too late...
