Taking the opportunity of traveling through books

Chapter 30: A wave of worry rises again

A slight wave of worry rises again

"Why are you here?" I took a step back, eyeing her warily. Wei Qing had always been at odds with me, so her presence here was no accident.

Under the moonlight, Wei Qing had a strange expression on her face, which seemed to be a smile but not a smile. My intuition told me that she must have bad intentions.

"Hey, isn't this our eldest lady? How come she is injured like this?" Wei Qing covered her mouth and chuckled, her tone full of sarcasm, as if she was laughing at my embarrassment.

I silently clenched the jade pendant in my hand, ignoring her provocation. The more she acted like this, the more it suggested something was wrong. I endured the pain and coldly watched her, waiting for her next move.

"Why aren't you talking? Did you feel guilty because I said it right?" Seeing that I was unmoved, Wei Qing became even more aggressive and approached me step by step.

"What do you want to do?" I asked in a low voice, my eyes closely watching her every move, not giving her any chance to take advantage of me.

"What can I do?" Wei Qing suddenly stopped, spread her hands, and put on an innocent expression. "I was just worried about you, so I came to see you. Look at you, your face is so pale, you must be seriously injured, right?"

Her tone seemed caring, but I could hear a chilling chill in it. Alarm bells rang in my heart, and I instinctively wanted to step back, but I found that my body seemed to be restrained by an invisible pressure, unable to move.

"What did you do?" I asked through gritted teeth, trying hard to mobilize the little energy left in my body, but found that it was useless.

Wei Qing slowly walked up to me, looked down at me, and a sinister smile appeared on the corner of her mouth: "I just want you to feel what real pain is!"

As soon as I finished speaking, I felt a bone-chilling chill emanating from her palm, pressing directly into my chest. My body instantly felt frozen, unable to move. I could only watch as the cold air invaded my body, wantonly destroying the little vitality I had just recovered.

I gritted my teeth, desperately trying to resist the chill, but it was no use. My consciousness began to blur, darkness filled my vision, and my body gradually lost consciousness.

"Stop!" Just as I was about to lose consciousness, a furious roar suddenly rang out in my ears... "Stop!" Elder Wei's roar resounded like thunder. A flash of golden light flashed, and he appeared before me like a ghost, the longsword in his hand emitting a sharp cold light, heading straight for Wei Qing. Wei Qing was forced to retreat repeatedly by this sudden attack, but her face did not show panic, instead revealing a strange smile.

"Oh, Elder Wei, you're too protective of this loser," Wei Qing sneered. Suddenly, an ancient bronze mirror appeared in her hand, gleaming with a faint green light and emitting a frightening aura. Elder Wei's sword energy struck the mirror, but was completely absorbed without a ripple.

"You!" Elder Wei's face changed. This bronze mirror was obviously not an ordinary object. It could dissolve his attack so easily.

"What? Are you surprised?" Wei Qing proudly shook the bronze mirror in her hand. "This is a treasure I spent a lot of money to get. You think you can hurt me?"

I endured the excruciating pain and struggled to get up, but I found I didn't even have the strength to move a finger. I could only watch Wei Qing standing there unharmed, protected by her strange bronze mirror, feeling powerless.

"Are you okay?" A familiar voice rang in my ear. I turned around with difficulty and saw Hao Yang looking at me with concern. He placed a rune emitting a faint glow next to me, then stood up and turned to face Wei Qing.

"Who are you? How dare you meddle in my business?" Wei Qing glanced at Hao Yang with disdain, her eyes full of contempt.

"You hurt her, so you must pay the price." Hao Yang's tone was icy, his eyes gleaming with anger. He quickly formed seals with his hands, and golden runes flew out from his hands, shooting towards Wei Qing like arrows.

Wei Qing snorted coldly, and the bronze mirror in her hand shone brightly, forming a light curtain that blocked Hao Yang's attack. The two of them fought back and forth, and for a moment they were in a stalemate.

I watched them anxiously. Although Hao Yang was quite powerful, he had been injured in his previous battle with the forces of darkness. His old wounds hadn't healed, and now, with new ones added to them, he was gradually losing ground. I was filled with worry, but I was powerless to do anything. I could only watch him fall into trouble.

"Hao Yang, be careful!" I couldn't help but warn him, but I saw a sinister smile on Wei Qing's lips, the bronze mirror in her hand shone brighter, and a black beam of light shot straight at Hao Yang.

"Not good!" I was shocked, and saw a figure suddenly appear in front of Hao Yang...

"Yang'er!" It was Master Hao! His figure was as fast as lightning, and in the blink of an eye he blocked in front of Hao Yang. With a wave of the whisk in his hand, a golden light circle enveloped Hao Yang, barely blocking the black beam of light.

"Master!" Hao Yang was surprised and happy, his eyes full of worry, "Why are you here?"

"You kid, you're always so worrying!" Master Hao's tone was full of blame, but it couldn't hide the concern in his eyes. "Don't talk for now, it's dangerous here, let me deal with her!"

Master Hao turned around, his eyes piercing Wei Qing, and said in a deep voice, "Wei Qing, you keep stirring up trouble again and again. Do you really think that there is no one in my Hao family?"

"Hmph, stop talking nonsense!" Wei Qing was not afraid at all, "Today I will make you pay the price!" After she finished speaking, she muttered something, and the bronze mirror in her hand emitted a strange red light. The air around her seemed to become sticky, and a disgusting smell of blood filled the air.

I suppressed my discomfort and tried to open my eyes wide, only to see hideous black creatures emerge from the bronze mirror, baring their fangs and claws, making blood-curdling roars, and rushing towards us.

"Oh no, it's a dark creature!" Elder Wei's face changed drastically, "Yao'er, be careful!"

I was startled, and before I could react, Elder Wei pulled me behind him. He swung his sword, his energy surging like a rainbow, slaying the approaching dark creatures one by one. However, these dark creatures seemed endless, surging forward in unbroken succession. Despite his formidable strength, Elder Wei gradually began to feel the strain.

"Hahaha, Wei Chongshan, you've finally got what you want!" Wei Qing laughed triumphantly. "You think you can stop me? Wishful thinking!"

I was forced to retreat repeatedly by several dark creatures, and I was extremely anxious. Hao Yang was protected by Master Hao behind him and was temporarily safe, but his injuries had not yet healed, and I was really worried that he would be injured again.

"Ah!" I was careless and got scratched on the arm by the sharp claws of a dark creature. The blood instantly dyed my sleeve red.

"Yao'er!" Hao Yang's eyes were bloodshot, and he wanted to rush over, but Master Hao held him back tightly, "Don't be impulsive, you will only cause more trouble if you go over now!"

"But..." Hao Yang wanted to say something, but was stopped by Master Hao's sharp look.

I clutched my wound, trying to hold back the pain, but despair grew in my heart. Were we really going to die here today?

At this moment, Wei Qing suddenly stopped attacking. She turned her head and looked not far from me. There, lying quietly, was the rune emitting a faint glow...

"Now!" A fierce look flashed in Wei Qing's eyes. She chanted an obscure spell, and the bronze mirror in her hand shone brightly. A black beam of light shot straight at the rune...

"No!" I cried out in despair, but nothing could stop it... A black beam of light, like a deadly hand from hell, fiercely struck the rune. A dazzling burst of light erupted, and I instinctively closed my eyes. My ears were filled with a cacophony of sounds: Elder Wei's exclamation, Hao Yang's roar, Wei Qing's maniacal laughter, and the chilling screams of those dark creatures...

My heart went cold. It was over, everything was over. That rune was our last hope, and now that hope was shattered, perhaps only death awaited us...

"Yao'er, don't be afraid!" Elder Wei's voice came to my ears. He protected me behind him, wielding the sword tightly, forcing back the dark creatures that tried to approach one by one. "We can definitely find another way, and we can definitely defeat the darkness!"

His voice was filled with determination, yet it couldn't conceal a hint of fatigue. I suppressed the despair in my heart and opened my eyes. Where the rune had once been, only a charred mark remained. The faint light had completely vanished.

"Hahaha, Wei Chongshan, you lose!" Wei Qing's triumphant voice echoed in the air, "Without the protection of the power of light, you will all be swallowed by darkness!"

The bronze mirror in her hand shone brightly once more, and more dark creatures emerged from it, surging towards us like a black tide. Elder Wei and Master Hao fought side by side. Both were formidable, but facing such a large number of dark creatures, they gradually felt overwhelmed.

Hao Yang's injuries hadn't healed yet, so he couldn't join the fight and could only stand by anxiously. I couldn't help much, but I didn't want to just sit there and wait for death. I drew my dagger from my waist and prepared to fight those dark creatures to the death.

"Yao'er, don't be impulsive!" Hao Yang held my hand, his eyes full of worry, "You are still injured, don't force yourself to fight!"

"But..." I wanted to say something, but was stunned by the scene in front of me.

Wei Qing suddenly stopped attacking, turned her head and looked in a certain direction, a strange smile on her lips. I followed her gaze and saw a dark figure slowly walking out...

"Hao Shuang?" I exclaimed, with an ominous premonition in my heart.

How did he end up here? Could it be that... he and Wei Qing were in cahoots?

Hao Shuang walked over to Wei Qing. He ignored us and just looked at her with a devilish smile on his face. "It seems like you've succeeded."

Wei Qing raised her chin proudly: "Of course, don't you see who I am?"

"Very good." Hao Shuang nodded with satisfaction, then turned his head and looked at us, his eyes full of malice, "Next, let's have some fun..."
