The Killer's Cleansing Manual

Chapter 70: Taking Tiger Head Camp by Strategy

Xu Cheng finally agreed. He knew that he could only make meritorious contributions while serving his sentence to ensure his wife's safety and reputation, so he agreed without hesitation.

The next morning, Xu Cheng changed his clothes and went straight to Hutouying.

The Tiger Head Camp was on the top of a mountain. Bai Shu and Qi Zhen pretended to be Xu Cheng's companions. The three of them rode their horses and reached the top of the mountain in just one stick of incense.

There were two strong men guarding the door. When they saw Xu Cheng, a familiar face, they greeted him happily.

"Didn't you come here a few days ago? Why are you here again today?"

Xu Cheng also smiled familiarly: "Business has been good recently, is Boss Hu in here?"

The man smiled and said, "Yes."

Xu Cheng sensibly took out a few taels of silver and gave them to them, then dismounted and went in with Bai Shu and the other two.

The Tiger Head Camp was filled with white tents, with the exception of the stone fort at the farthest end, nestled at the foot of the mountain. Built entirely of stone, it was topped with a large lock, evidently housing military supplies.

The weather in Wuyan Town is very dry now, and the fallen leaves on the ground make a crisp sound when you step on them.

Xu Cheng met Hu Chong, explained his purpose, and exchanged a few pleasantries before Hu Chong asked someone to get the military supplies.

Everyone in the tent was watching their every move. It was obviously impossible for them to get away and look around now. It seemed that they could only take action at night.

The three of them used the silver given by Ye Xi to buy fifty feather arrows, smoke bombs, gunpowder, and went down the mountain and returned to the inn after they were fully equipped.

Ye Xi was so anxious that he finally waited for them to come back. He took the purchased military supplies and took a look. Sure enough, they were the ones stolen from the Qingcang Army!

"That's right!"

Lin Shanjuan nodded and spread out the paper and pen he had prepared. "Draw a rough map of what's inside for me to see. I'll go take a look at it tonight. With so much gunpowder, even if we surround them and provoke these people into a desperate situation, there will inevitably be many casualties among our own people, and the blame will inevitably fall on you."

Ye Xi was very grateful, but there was no way she would push such a risky thing to Lin Shanjuan.

"I'll go. Ultimately, this is the Qing Cang Army's oversight. How can I let you..."

"It's true that my martial arts skills are not as good as yours, but you're probably not as good as me at this kind of secret investigation." Lin Shanjuan didn't argue any further. "Let's solve this matter as soon as possible, so that the three of us can quickly capture Hu Qun."

Otherwise, if the brothers Hu Qun and Hu Chong work together, it will be difficult to deal with such a local tyrant.

Ye Xi shook her head: "Then I will go with you. I can't bear to see you take risks alone."

Lin Shanjuan knew her temper and had no choice but to agree.

At night, the two men changed into night clothes and climbed up the mountain. In order to attract the attention of the guards, Lin Shanjuan took out a fire starter, lit the dead branches, and threw them into the middle tent.

It was a dry season, and with dead branches and leaves all over the ground, the fire spread quickly.

"Put out the fire! Quick!"

There was chaos in the Hutou Camp. Lin Shanjuan and Ye Xi met in front of the stone fort. There was a big lock hanging on the gate. Ye Xi raised his dagger to knock it down, but was stopped by Lin Shanjuan.

She took out the iron wire she had prepared long ago and poked it into the keyhole. After turning it a few times, she pried the lock open, leaving Ye Xi stunned.

As they had expected, the stone fort was indeed where the military supplies were stored. Ye Xi carefully examined the weapons, armor, and other items, while Lin Shanjuan went further inside to check the gunpowder.

The gunpowder was neatly stacked in the corner, and it was not damp here, which showed how carefully it was stored.

It was obvious that such a large amount of gunpowder could not be moved by just the two of them. While the people outside were still shouting for help, Lin Shanjuan had an idea and whispered it to Ye Xi, and the two of them started to act together.

Taking advantage of the chaos, one of them ran out with several packets of gunpowder and buried them in various places in the tents. Then they pulled out many fuses and finally stole a few buckets of water. After soaking all the gunpowder, they closed the door, locked it again, and continued to hide in the Hutou Camp separately.

In the second half of the night, the fire was finally put out. The bandits were so tired that they complained and went back to their tents to sleep.

Lin Shanjuan and Ye Xi quickly took action, connected the buried fire bomb fuses, buried them in the soil, and finally threw the two ends out of the wall before withdrawing.

That night, Ye Xi went to the nearest city defense camp to mobilize troops. At dawn the next day, when the people in the Hutou Camp woke up, they heard a loud cry of killing outside.

Hu Chong was startled, and his men came crawling in to report: "Boss! There's some Princess Annan down the mountain, and she's brought a lot of people to siege us!"

Princess Annan's reputation in Jingguo was not as high as General Zhennan's. Hu Chong sneered:

"The pursuit is quite fast!"

Upon hearing the news, Chen Qiang also hurried over. "We can't defeat her! This woman is renowned in the Southern Territory, even more feared by the Southern Barbarians than her father and brother. We'd better evacuate them through the tunnel as quickly as possible. There's always hope!"

Hu Chong disagreed: "Princess Annan? She chased you all the way here, this is her death! Just wait and see how I can avenge you!"

After all, the key to the stone fortress was with Hu Chong. Chen Qiang’s persuasion was in vain and he could only wait on the mountain in fear.

Hu Chong, fully armed, led his men down the mountain and met Ye Xi in the forest halfway up the mountain.

"Are you Princess Annan?"

Ye Xi looked at him pointing his blade at her and sneered, "How dare you, a nameless person, call me the princess? If you surrender now, there's still room for maneuver. If you persist, you'll only end up dead!"

Hu Chong laughed heartily: "Little girl, I want to see how capable you are!"

Hu Chong had been practicing martial arts since he was a child, and he was strong and muscular. He often bullied ordinary people, and his confidence had swelled to a certain extent.

Lin Shanjuan watched from afar and sighed for him.

After only a few moves, Ye Xi used his spear to lift Hu Chong's armor and threw him to the ground.

"Tied!"

Hu Chong was thrown to the ground, his teeth bared, but he still refused to give up: "If you force your attack, the gunpowder in my stone fort is enough to destroy us both! Come on! If I, Hu Chong, can drag Princess Annan down with me, it will be worth it!"

The other soldiers hesitated after hearing this, but Ye Xi sneered, "Go up the mountain!"

The main force continued to advance towards the top of the mountain, with the infantry in front and the cavalry behind. Chen Qiang's heart sank when he saw this, but he could only fight desperately.

He knew that what he had done would only lead to his death. Now that things had come to this, the worst that could happen was that both of them would be destroyed!

"Fire arrows!"

At Chen Qiang's command, thousands of arrows were fired from the Tiger Head Camp. Ye Xi was prepared: "Raise your shields!"

The infantrymen raised their shields in unison, and the cavalrymen within range dismounted, hid behind their shields, and continued to advance.

Facing the battle-hardened Ye Xi, Chen Qiang's desperate resistance was nothing but a futile struggle before death.

With the enemy at the gates, Chen Qiang gritted his teeth and said, "I will never surrender! Now I will use your weapons to blow you all to death! So that we can keep each other company on the road to the underworld!"

It seemed that this person would never repent. Ye Xi lost his patience: "If anyone wants to live, they will be captured and imprisoned. If anyone refuses to repent, they will be executed immediately!"

The Hutou Camp was full of bandits. Ye Xi arrived in front of them unscathed. It was obvious that the small Hutou Camp was not able to resist them. Many people ran out to surrender immediately.

After half an incense stick of time, only a few people were still holding on upstairs.

Chen Qiang had already foreseen the army rushing in, the scene of them setting the stone fort on fire, and the flames shooting up into the sky, but he didn't expect Ye Xi to raise his hand:

"The whole army retreats!"

Back off?

Chen Qiang was extremely confused, watching the dark masses of soldiers retreating down the mountain. Before he could understand what was happening, he saw a flaming arrow flying through the air!

Lin Shanjuan shot an arrow and mounted her horse and ran away without looking back. The rocket ignited the fuse hanging outside the wall. When she retreated to the foot of the mountain, there was a loud rumbling sound on the mountain, and the earth shook.

Ye Xi dismounted to meet her: "Thank you for your hard work."

Lin Shan smiled wearily and patted the horse's neck: "It has worked hard too."

Just now, the horse was blocked behind the vines, which made her anxious. Her mind was full of "dead horse jumping". Fortunately, the horse was sensible, otherwise she really didn't know what would happen.
