Desert Survival, when I entered a month in advance
Chapter 3 Changing Rules
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Maybe she cried too much when she was a child, and now she was even deprived of the right to cry.
Tomorrow will be better, for sure!
Suppressing the sadness and resentment in her heart, she slowly fell asleep.
Day Three
I was lucky today. She gave me two scorpions to mark the quicksand, a 500ml bottle of water, a baguette, and a pound of raw rice.
The baguette was very big and difficult to chew. Her teeth almost fell out from biting it. She consumed 1/3 of the baguette and 200ml of water today.
The remaining food is one apple, 2/3 of a baguette, and 850ml of water.
Fourth day
She thought she could get the box as usual, but the rope had changed. No matter how tightly she tied the box and the stone, the rope would fall off by itself.
Fortunately, the location where the new box appeared was only five or six meters away from yesterday's location. She didn't need to explore the way and could just follow yesterday's route.
It took her ten minutes and several attempts before she finally found the first box of the day. She took it out of the box and took out a light green bead that looked like a glass jade.
It was too hard for her to pinch it, but it emitted a faint glow and looked unusual, so she treasured it and hid it away.
Without a box to tie her up, she could only sit in the cave and think about life. Everything was fine for the first three days, but today the rope suddenly couldn't be used to tie anything.
If the person behind the scenes wants to use a more difficult rope to put the box on instead of just walking over to get it, it's like a game bug being fixed.
She looked into the distance blankly, but her hands clenched unconsciously, as if she were just a game character in the hands of others.
Soon she loosened her grip again. She shouldn't use her energy on impotent rage. Since this was a game, she would definitely find a way out!
By noon, she was lucky enough to win two more boxes, and got two stones and 200ml of water.
She has summed up some experience in the past few days. The number of boxes per day is about 3 to 5. However, she has been here for too short a time, so this pattern may not be accurate.
Near dusk, just when Feng Chan thought there were only three boxes today, three boxes suddenly appeared twenty meters outside the cave. One of the boxes had a green seal on the opening, emitting a faint green light.
It turns out that the boxes have levels. Feng Chan didn't have time to think about it. She took the three-piece set and walked along the safe path she had explored in the past few days.
The farthest she could walk at the moment was 15 meters away from the stone cave. The further she went, the larger the quicksand became, leaving almost no place to step. There were not enough stones, and she didn't dare to waste them easily.
Feng Chan danced the lasso in circles to gather strength, then took careful aim and threw it out. It barely touched the target, but missed.
She was about to put it on for the second time, but quicksand surged around the green box and it began to sink.
Feng Chan was shocked. This was the first time such a situation had occurred in so many days. The sand under the dozen or so boxes that had been put in place before was safe. The only possibility of encountering quicksand was during the dragging process.
She quickly retracted the noose and gathered her strength again, but perhaps she was too anxious and didn't even touch the edge this time.
She gathered strength to pull in the rope, her hands moving non-stop, shaking the rope vigorously. Now the box had been swallowed by half of the quicksand, and she only had one chance.
Seeing the right moment, she threw it out again, snap—
bingo!
Feng Chan herself was a little surprised, and the corners of her lips curled up unconsciously. She quickly retracted the rope. If she was a little later, it would be too deep and she wouldn't be able to pull it out even if she put it on the box.
There were also two ordinary wooden boxes next to each other, more than ten meters away from her, so she had to explore the way first.
Throw out a stone and the yellow sand will flow, making it impossible to pass.
She could only throw the last stone to the left, but it was still a dead end.
Fortunately, she brought an empty box with her, so she threw it to the right and it was safe. She walked about five or six meters.
After a simple adjustment to a safe position, start ripping.
The first attempt missed, and the yellow sand below actually began to flow. She frowned slightly and quickened her movements.
Unfortunately, her accuracy was limited, and she only got one in the end, while the other one fell into the yellow sand.
Did all three happen to be covered in quicksand, or did the rules of the game change? It's like the ropes that can't hold a box together. The box, which was fine before, only started to move when it got caught in the quicksand, even though the box itself was heavy enough.
She is more inclined to the latter and will know the result after putting on a few more boxes tomorrow.
Returning to the cave, she first carefully opened the ordinary wooden box. Inside was a small pile of stones similar to those used in the exploration, which were obviously different from the carefully crafted stones.
I took them out and counted them carefully, there were 10 in total.
After putting the things away, Feng Chan opened the green wooden box with both nervousness and anticipation.
What comes into view are 5 stones, and under the stones there is a light green drawing.
She picked it up and looked at it carefully. On the light green drawing was a model drawing of a stone house drawn in black lines.
There was a line of small characters marked in the lower right corner, and Feng Chan read it out softly: "Level 1 Stone House Manufacturing Plan, Materials: Stone x20, Cement x5."
She hadn't spoken much these past few days, and now she felt a little unfamiliar when she spoke. Moreover, due to lack of water, her originally clear and bright voice became hoarse and turbid.
Level 1? Feng Chan looked at the pattern drawn on it. The area was 16 square meters, the height was 3 meters, and the length and width were both 4 meters. It looked much better than the stone cave she lived in. At least it could stand up and was more solid.
"I don't have any cement, but are these the stones that were cut out along with the blueprint?"
She has already opened 8 of these things. If it only takes 20, it doesn't seem very difficult to make. But can such a large stone house really be made with these fist-sized stones?
She couldn't help but glance at the cave she was living in. So this thing wasn't even level 1?
But it's pretty good to be able to protect yourself from wind and rain, oh no, it's also good to be able to protect yourself from the sun.
Contentment is the key to happiness. Although the current situation is still not optimistic and there is too little food, at least there is hope. Since the other party can make boxes appear out of thin air, if I gather the supplies as required, I should be able to upgrade my house.
It was still early, so she ate the remaining half of the apple and took only a small sip of water.
The only food I had for the whole day today was an apple and a small amount of water. The desert air is dry and the baguette can be kept, but the apple can also be kept, but it will gradually lose moisture. Instead of being reluctant to eat it and letting it dry out, it is better to eat it now.
After eating until she was half full, Feng Chan picked up an empty box and put it far away, while she practiced ring tossing at the entrance of the cave.
She hadn't practiced this skill before because she found a loophole in the game, but today was different. She had to improve her skills to be able to hit more boxes and ensure that she had enough supplies to sustain her life.
After half an hour of practice, she was already tired, her right arm ached, and her stomach was complaining of its own dissatisfaction. Feng Chan sighed. Without food, she couldn't even give her full effort in training.
After taking back the practice box, Feng Chan packed up briefly and lay down in the cave, covering herself with her summer quilt and gradually falling asleep.
The occasional wind outside was getting stronger and stronger, howling like a wolf. In the rapidly cooling night, it blew sand into the cave, waking Feng Chan up.
