Uncle Nine, where are you running to?
Chapter 43 Considering Each Other
"Doctor, please help me pick out the medicine on this prescription."
Jingzhi carefully took out the prescription that she had read countless times and handed it to the old man behind the table.
He reached out to take it, looked at it for a few seconds, and without asking any questions, turned around and started opening the medicine cabinet to get the medicine.
When the medicine was placed in front of Jingzhi, Jingzhi's brows tightened.
"Doctor, don't you have any prepared food?"
The old man waved his hand and pointed to a row of herbs spread out on the ground at the door:
"I'm just one person, so I don't have the time to prepare them all. These herbs are all collected by villagers from the mountains and sold to me. They don't know how to make them... You can just go back and slice them and dry them yourself. The effect will be the same."
Jingzhi looked at the herbs on the ground that were still covered in mud and dew, and sighed slowly:
"Okay, then you have to give me a discount."
Now she has no source of income. She doesn't know when Erdi's illness can be cured, and she still needs to take medicine regularly. She wants to spend every penny she has.
"Okay, okay, you really are good at bargaining."
……
After she bought the medicine and some daily necessities, as well as diesel, rice, flour, etc., the money she brought with her was almost spent. Looking at the dozen or so copper coins left in her hand, Jingzhi put down the cart, walked quickly to the bun shop, and used the remaining money to buy buns and a few big white steamed buns.
The three of them hadn't eaten yet. She didn't need to eat any ordinary food, but Erdi and Liang Zan at home were starving.
By the way, why hasn’t Erdi come back yet?
She put the bag of food on the cart, pushed it to the agreed location, and stood on tiptoe to look around...
……
Jewelry shop.
"Boss lady, is there really no other way?"
The lady boss pushed back the broken hairpin and said with an embarrassed look:
"Sir, it's not that I don't want to help you fix it, it's just that I can't help you.
Your hairpin is not just cracked, there are also some small pieces of jade missing from the crack. No matter how much you repair it, it can't be restored to its original state."
She pointed to the other styles of jade hairpins on the counter and said expectantly:
"Why don't you take a look at the other jewelry in my shop and buy a new one? Maybe your wife will be happier."
She thought, since the hairpin was broken into such pieces, the couple must have had a quarrel. Wouldn't it be better to buy a new one as apology? She could also make some extra money at the same time. Wouldn't that be killing two birds with one stone and everyone would be happy?
Erdi was originally feeling quite disappointed and wanted to take back the broken hairpin and leave, but then he suddenly heard the word "Madam". He couldn't help but feel excited, and actually slowly looked at the jade hairpin recommended by the proprietress...
……
The sun was rising in the sky and it was almost noon, but Erdi still hadn't returned. Jingzhi was so anxious that he kept pacing back and forth, fearing that he would suddenly have an asthma attack.
Just as I was about to push the cart to look for him, a familiar figure suddenly appeared at the increasingly crowded street corner.
"Erdi! Here!"
She breathed a sigh of relief and raised her hands to wave at him.
Erdi saw her brows soften, and when her gaze shifted to the cart next to her, surprise and a hint of apology flashed in her eyes.
It was all his fault... He had made her work so hard again.
So he walked over quickly.
As soon as I stood still and put the things I bought on the cart, a still warm steamed bun was placed against my mouth.
"you……"
She passed the steamed bun to his mouth again, and seeing his lips turning white because he hadn't eaten for a long time, she couldn't help but feel distressed:
"Eat quickly! You haven't eaten since this morning. Be careful not to get hungry."
He didn't eat it. Instead, he stuffed the box he was holding tightly in his arms into her arms and said softly, his face slightly red: "Here you go."
Jingzhi held the heavy black lacquered wooden box with a confused look on his face: "What is this?"
She handed the steamed bun to him, then opened the lid and took a look. He just glanced at it out of the corner of his eye, and then she closed the lid tightly with a "snap".
Then she looked around and when she saw that no one was looking at her, she put the box in the basket on the cart and gathered the vegetables on it.
After everything was done, she leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Where did you get so much money?"
His ears were red as he said softly, "I just went to the bank to get it."
She frowned and asked again, "Wasn't your small treasury burned?"
He turned his head away without answering. He picked up a piece of steamed bun and ate it slowly, chewing as he walked forward: "Let's go."
Jingzhi rolled her eyes at the back of his head, then gently picked up the two slanted handles and pushed the cart forward.
Fortunately, she is not a human, otherwise she really wouldn't be able to push this full cart of things.
As the two of them walked, Jingzhi couldn't help but be curious and turned around to ask again: "Where are you from...hmm."
Erdi pulled back her index finger that had just felt the warmth, stopped and stared blankly at the crystal above, then moved closer and closer -
Jingzhi quickly swallowed the steamed bun in his mouth, his face flushed red as he shouted angrily: "Liang Erdi, you dare to take a bite?!"
Erdi bent her index finger, looked at her lovingly, then leaned over to her lips and pecked her gently:
"I didn't."
Jingzhi felt her ears were burning so much that steam was about to come out. She glared at him fiercely, stomped her feet, and without looking back, pushed the cart with a creaking sound. The things on the cart collided with each other, making a series of tinkling sounds. Fortunately, they were all tied with ropes, so nothing fell out.
From a distance, I heard her suddenly shout:
"Isn't it still the same?! I won't wait for you anymore!"
Erdi looked at his finger, then at the white figure walking away angrily. He panicked, and then -
"Xiaozhi, huh...wait for me...I can't keep up with you...cough cough, Xiaozhi!"
"Don't try to fool me! You must be pretending again!"
Having said that, she didn't dare to gamble.
What if it's true?
It was out in the wilderness and no one came to collect his body.
So she gradually slowed down the pace of pushing the cart.
But no matter how fast or slow she was, she was always a few steps faster than Erdi. The two of them chased each other, one in front and the other behind, and returned home.
"Liang Zan, come out and move the things!"
