Chapter 734: The city's high-ranking officials take action
Old Wei took the order and left, while Lu Yang lit a cigarette with a deep look in his eyes.
Just then, Chen Yijun called. "Lu Yang, the Central Bureau of Investigation has intercepted intelligence that the Japanese are planning a murderous attack on high-ranking officials in the city. Codenamed 'Shadow'."
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes and replied, "I understand. I'll take care of it."
He hung up the phone and said to Liu Ruyan, "Ruyan, check with the city's high-ranking officials to see who is the target of 'Shadow'."
Liu Ruyan nodded, and Ye Wanru added, "I will bring people to escort the Sichuan Army Commander to prevent any accidents."
Lu Yang sneered. "Okay, let's split up."
The next day, he changed into casual clothes and took "Qinglong" with him to sneak into the residence of a high-ranking official in the city.
The mansion was heavily guarded. Lu Yang sneaked onto the roof and looked down at the courtyard.
A Japanese man disguised as a servant walked towards the main hall with a bottle of wine in his hand.
Lu Yang set up the "Qinglong", locked the crosshairs, and pulled the trigger.
"Bang!" Blood spurted out from the Japanese man's eyebrows, and the wine bottle fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
There was chaos in the mansion. The guards rushed out, but Lu Yang quietly evacuated.
He returned to the photo studio, where Liu Ruyan had a message. "Lu Yang, 'Shadow' targeted the Finance Secretary, but he's been rescued."
Lu Yang nodded and said coldly: "Okay, the Japanese are desperate."
Just then, the door of the secret room was pushed open and Qinglan walked in.
Her face was pale, and her eyes were filled with panic. "Lu Yang, is there something wrong in the city again?"
Lu Yang pulled her over and said calmly, "It's okay, just a minor trouble."
Qinglan leaned in his arms and whispered, "I heard that the Japanese want to retaliate, I'm afraid..."
Lu Yang kissed her forehead, but sneered in his heart. "What are you afraid of? I'm here."
After sending Qinglan away, he gathered everyone together and made a new plan.
"Old Wei, there are still remnants of the Japanese outside the city. Take the Sichuan Army to clear them out." He said in a deep voice.
Old Wei nodded, and Ye Wanru said, "I found out that the Japanese hid a batch of chemical weapons in the north of the city."
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes and snorted coldly. "Chemical weapons? How cruel."
He led his men straight to the north of the city, to an abandoned hospital that was eerie and mysterious.
Outside the hospital, the Japanese were heavily guarded. Lu Yang shot them one by one and rushed in.
It was filled with poison gas canisters, and the document read: "If 'Thunder' fails, release the poison gas."
Lu Yang sneered, lit the explosives, and turned to evacuate.
"Boom!" The hospital was reduced to ruins and the poisonous gas was engulfed by flames.
He stood at a distance, lit a cigarette, and whispered, "Japanese, this trick is useless."
Back at the photo studio, Liu Ruyan reported, "Lu Yang, Qinglan met with the Japanese again today."
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes, murderous intent surging. "Bring her here."
Qinglan was brought in, tears streaming down her face. "Lu Yang, I was forced to do this. They threatened me!"
Lu Yang sneered. "Threat? Explain clearly."
Qing Lan trembled and said, "They asked me to steal the 'Bashu Order', but I refused."
Lu Yang was silent and pulled her over. "Qinglan, this is my final warning. Don't let me do it."
She nodded and leaned in his arms, with a cold light flashing in Lu Yang's eyes.
The next day, he led his team to wipe out the remnants outside the city, and the sound of gunfire was like thunder in the mountains and forests.
The Japanese were defeated, and Lu Yang shot the enemy leader in the head, ending the battle.
He stood on the top of the mountain, looking at the foggy mountain city, and whispered, "Japanese, this game is over."
Back at the photo studio, he gathered everyone together.
"Old Wei, hold the city defenses and cooperate with the Sichuan Army. We must not allow any more trouble." He said in a deep voice.
Liu Ruyan said, "Lu Yang, the remaining Japanese are no longer a threat."
Lu Yang stood in front of the window in the backyard of the photo studio, with the "Qinglong" sniper rifle in his hand leaning against the wall. The barrel still retained the smell of soil from the mountains and forests outside the city.
The fog in the mountain city was like a veil, covering the city that had just calmed down from the bloody storm. The night wind whistled softly, bringing a hint of uneasy tremor.
He exhaled a puff of smoke, his eyes like knives, piercing through the darkness outside the window, as if searching for the shadow of the next storm.
"Boss, the remnants of the Japanese have been almost wiped out, and the city can finally breathe a sigh of relief." Old Wei walked in, his voice a little relaxed, but his face couldn't hide the fatigue.
Lu Yang snorted coldly and stubbed out his cigarette. "Breathing? I can't bear this until they're all dead."
He turned around, picked up the "Bashu Order" on the table, stroked the engravings on it, and a deep look flashed in his eyes.
Liu Ruyan pushed the door open and walked in, holding a piece of letter seized from outside the city and handed it to him. "Lu Yang, this is a suicide note left by a Japanese. It mentions an 'Emperor's Order.'"
Lu Yang took the letter and unfolded it. The handwriting was messy but full of enthusiasm: "'Thunder' has been abolished, 'The Emperor's Order' is coming, and the mountain city will be destroyed."
He narrowed his eyes and sneered. "'Emperor's Order'? It seems the Japanese still have a trump card."
He stood up and said to Liu Ruyan, "Gather the people and check this 'Emperor's Order'. I want to see what the hell it is."
Liu Ruyan nodded, and Ye Wanru walked in afterwards, holding a piece of intelligence obtained from a Military Intelligence Bureau informant.
"Lu Yang, the intelligence report says that the Japanese are secretly gathering in the Black Wind Village outside the city, which may be related to the 'Emperor's Order.'" She spoke in a steady tone, but a hint of vigilance flashed in her eyes.
Lu Yang said coldly: "Black Wind Village? Go and check it out yourself."
He changed into a mountain villager's clothes, carried "Qinglong" on his back, took Ye Wanru and several elite soldiers, and headed straight for the Black Wind Village outside the city.
Black Wind Village is located in a steep mountain range. The village walls are high and torches can be vaguely seen swaying in the night.
Lu Yang sneaked to the high ground outside the village and set up the "Qinglong". The scene inside the village was reflected in the sight - dozens of Japanese were training, and a strange device was placed in the center.
He narrowed his eyes and whispered, "Wanru, lead your men to the village gate. I'll lead the way."
Ye Wanru moved quietly and Lu Yang pulled the trigger.
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, and a Japanese officer in the village fell beside the device with blood spurting from his eyebrows.
The village exploded instantly, and the Japanese fled in all directions. Lu Yang switched positions and opened fire. His bullets were like the Grim Reaper's scythe, harvesting them with precision.
Ye Wanru led his men to break in, a grenade exploded, and flames engulfed the village wall.
Lu Yang approached the device and observed it carefully, and found that it was a radio transmitter with code books scattered around it.
He sneered. "Good boy, the 'Emperor's Order' turns out to be a signal."
He removed the core component of the launcher, ignited the explosives, and razed the village to the ground.
"Boom!" The explosion shook the sky. Lu Yang stood in front of the ruins, lit a cigarette, and exhaled a puff of smoke. "Japanese, I'll take this order first."
The team retreated to the photo studio, where he spread the code book on the table and called everyone together to analyze it.
"Old Wei, this thing can send signals. The Japanese must be making big moves." He said in a deep voice, pointing to the code book.
Old Wei nodded. "Boss, I'll take my men outside the city to conduct another sweep to see if there are any fish that have slipped through the net."
Liu Ruyan added, "I've found out that the Japanese merchants in the city have been unusually active recently. They might be responding to the 'Emperor's Order'."
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes and snorted coldly. "Alright, let's attack together, inside and outside the city."
He changed into the clothes of a wealthy businessman, holding a gilded cane and hiding the "Qinglong", and headed straight for a chamber of commerce in the city.
The lights in the Chamber of Commerce were on, and several Japanese businessmen were sitting around a table, talking in low voices.
Lu Yang pushed the door open and walked in, smiling gently. "Everyone, how's the business going?"
The merchant looked up, saw that he had an extraordinary demeanor, and stood up to greet him. "What can I do for you, sir?"
Lu Yang sat down, glanced at the account book on the table, and said coldly: "How much do you know about the 'Emperor's Order'?"
The businessman's face changed, and he was about to deny it when Lu Yang suddenly pulled out the "Green Dragon" and hit the leader's forehead.
"Will you tell me or not?" His voice was as cold as ice and filled with murderous intent.
The merchant collapsed and trembled, "We are just a contact. The signal will summon reinforcements!"
Lu Yang sneered, pulled the trigger, and blood splattered on the account book.
The other merchants were in a panic, but Lu Yang's marksmanship was as good as a god, and he cleared them out in an instant.
He found the account book, which recorded the route and time of the reinforcements, which would arrive three days later.
He snorted coldly, put the account book in his arms, and turned to leave.
Back at the photo studio, he gathered everyone together and laid out a new plan.
"Old Wei, lead the Sichuan troops to ambush on the mountain road outside the city and intercept the reinforcements in three days." He said in a deep voice.
Old Wei accepted the order, and Liu Ruyan said, "Lu Yang, there are still remnants of the Japanese in the city, and they may be waiting for an opportunity to sabotage."
Lu Yang nodded and turned to Ye Wanru. "Wanru, take your men and search the city to find all the rats."
Ye Wanru left in response. Lu Yang lit a cigarette with a deep look in his eyes.
Just then, Chen Yijun called. "Lu Yang, the Central Bureau of Investigation has intercepted intelligence. Japanese reinforcements, armed with heavy weapons, will arrive in three days!"
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes and replied, "I understand. I'll come and meet them."
He hung up the phone and said to Liu Ruyan, "Keep an eye on Qinglan. She's been too quiet lately."
Liu Ruyan nodded, a flash of worry in her eyes. "Lu Yang, do you really not trust her?"
Lu Yang snorted coldly. "If you can't trust me, I should have died long ago."
Three days later, on the mountain road outside the city.
Lu Yang led his troops to ambush on the cliff, and the Sichuan troops lined up in battle array, full of murderous intent.
In the distance, dust was flying, a convoy of Japanese reinforcements was slowly approaching, and tanks were roaring.
He set up the Blue Dragon, locked the crosshairs on the tank driver, and whispered, "Old Wei, get ready."
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, blood burst out from the driver's eyebrows, and the tank lost control and crashed into the mountain wall.
The convoy was in chaos. Lu Yang fired several shots and enemy officers fell one after another.
Lao Wei led the Sichuan Army to rush out, the grenade exploded, and flames engulfed the convoy.
Lu Yang approached an armored vehicle, jumped onto its roof, and threw in a bomb.
"Boom!" The armored vehicle turned into a fireball, and he jumped down, unharmed.
The reinforcements were defeated, and Lu Yang stood on the mountain road with the "Qinglong" in his hand shining with a cold light.
"Japanese, I gladly accept this reinforcement." He whispered to himself, with flames burning in his eyes.
Back at the photo studio, Ye Wanru delivered the news. "Lu Yang, the remaining rebels in the city have been cleared out, and a secret letter has been found."
Lu Yang took the secret letter, which read: "If the reinforcements fail, activate 'Doomsday'."
He narrowed his eyes and sneered. "'Doomsday'? Fine, I'll wait."
He gathered everyone together to analyze the meaning of "Doomsday".
Liu Ruyan said, "It may be a final revenge, possibly involving large-scale destruction."
Lu Yang nodded. "Old Wei, check the water sources and granaries outside the city. The Japanese love to take shady actions."
Old Wei took the order and left. Lu Yang changed into casual clothes and headed straight for the reservoir outside the city.
At the edge of the reservoir, several Japanese were throwing unknown liquids. Lu Yang set up the "Qinglong" and shot them one by one.
He checked the liquid and found it was highly toxic, enough to kill the entire city.
Lu Yang snorted coldly, destroyed the venom and blew up the delivery equipment.
Back at the photo studio, he lit a cigarette and whispered, "'Doomsday' is broken."
At this moment, Qing Lan walked in, panic in her eyes. "Lu Yang, is there something wrong outside the city again?"
Lu Yang pulled her over and said calmly, "It's okay, it's solved."
Qinglan whispered, "I heard the Japanese are going to retaliate, I'm afraid..."
Lu Yang kissed her forehead and sneered in his heart. "What are you afraid of? I'm here."
After seeing Qinglan off, Liu Ruyan said, "Lu Yang, she didn't see the Japanese today."
Lu Yang nodded. "Okay, I'll trust her for now."
The next day, he led a team to check the granary and found a place where explosives were hidden.
He detonated the trap outside the granary, destroying the Japanese ambush.
Standing in front of the ruins, he exhaled a puff of smoke and whispered, "Japanese, even 'Doomsday' is ruined."
Back at the photo studio, he gathered everyone together.
"Old Wei, hold the city defenses and cooperate with the Sichuan Army. The mountain city cannot be in chaos again." He said in a deep voice.
Liu Ruyan said, "Lu Yang, the Japanese are no longer able to fight back."
Lu Yang nodded, lit a cigarette, and looked at me with a sharp gaze.
The fog in the mountain city gradually dissipated, and he stood in front of the window, with the "Qinglong" in his hand shining coldly.
Who is he? A time traveler, a red agent, and a master of playing the pig and eating the tiger.
He defended the sky of this mountain city.
The next day, Chen Yijun came to visit with a report from the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics.
"Lu Yang, the Japanese forces in the southwest have collapsed. You have made a great contribution." Her tone was full of admiration.
Lu Yang sneered. "Whether it's a success or not, as long as the mountain city is stable, that's all that matters."
Chen Yijun stared at him and whispered, "Lu Yang, how many secrets do you have?"
Lu Yang exhaled a puff of smoke and said calmly, "Yijun, there are some things you shouldn't ask."
She nodded, turned and left. Lu Yang looked at her back, a complicated look in his eyes.
The wind in the mountain city calmed down. He stood by the window and whispered, "Japanese, this game is over."
He turned his head and looked at "Bashu Ling" with a sneer on his face.
He is ready for the next game of chess.
He exhaled a puff of smoke, his eyes like knives sweeping across the streets outside the window, as if to confirm whether this bloody storm was really over.
"Boss, the Japanese have completely withered, and everything inside and outside the city is peaceful." Lao Wei walked in with a bit of relief in his voice, holding a pot of freshly brewed hot tea in his hand.
Lu Yang snorted coldly and stubbed out his cigarette. "Peace? It's just a false alarm before the storm."
He took the teapot and took a sip. The bitter aroma of tea spread on his tongue, making him frown slightly.
Liu Ruyan pushed open the door and walked in, holding an urgent report from outside the city. She handed it to him. "Lu Yang, the Sichuan Army said that although the remnants of the Japanese have dispersed, some are secretly contacting foreign aid."
Lu Yang took the urgent report and glanced at it. It said: "Suspected new forces are involved. The target is unknown and the time is undetermined."
He narrowed his eyes and sneered. "A new force? Looks like this game isn't over yet."
He stood up and said to Liu Ruyan, "Gather the men and investigate the background of this foreign aid. I don't believe the Japanese will give up so easily."
Liu Ruyan nodded, and Ye Wanru walked in afterwards, holding a secret telegram intercepted from the Military Control Commission.
"Lu Yang, the secret message shows that some people are having a secret meeting in Baiyun Mountain outside the city. They may be related to the new forces." She spoke in a steady tone, with a sharp glint in her eyes.
Lu Yang said coldly: "Baiyun Mountain? Go and see it yourself."
He changed into hunter's clothes, carried "Qinglong" on his back, took Ye Wanru and several elite soldiers, and headed straight for Baiyun Mountain outside the city.
Baiyun Mountain is shrouded in clouds and mist, with deep forests and dense trees. A faint whisper can be heard from the mountainside.
