Chapter 414 Luo Li's Plan
At noon, Luo Li hurried into a small restaurant in high heels.
Her heartbeat was a few beats faster than usual and her palms were slightly sweaty.
She didn't want to come at all, but when the day came for the meeting, she had to come.
When I was leaving, I met Zhang Kui, who greeted me in a sinister way.
She was afraid that one day she would fall into his clutches.
Pushing open the door to the cell, she looked around, making sure no one was following her before she breathed a sigh of relief. She sat down, tapping her fingertips lightly on the table, her eyes occasionally glancing towards the door.
After a while, a middle-aged man wearing a gold ring pushed the door open and walked in.
Luo Li immediately stood up with a perfectly respectful expression on her face.
"Section Chief," Luo Li greeted in a low voice, with a hint of nervousness in her voice.
The middle-aged man nodded and sat down gracefully. His gaze lingered on Luo Li's face for a second before he got straight to the point: "How's the situation?"
Luo Li took a deep breath and tried to make her voice sound steady: "Everything is going according to plan. But, Chief, I have a question." She hesitated for a moment, but still asked, "Are we really just going to watch?"
The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he was thinking about something.
His fingers gently stroked the gold ring, and after a few seconds he spoke: "Let's wait and see, and let the Military Control Commission fight among itself."
Luo Li bit her lower lip and frowned slightly.
She almost pleaded, "But Zhang Kui must be eliminated. He has begun to doubt me."
"Don't worry," the middle-aged man said calmly. He looked out the window, still calm. "Zhang Kui won't live long. I've already recruited a Japanese ronin."
Luo Li's eyes lit up, and she sat up straight involuntarily: "Really? Then what should we do next?"
The middle-aged man leaned forward and lowered his voice: "Go back and tell them the news, and lead Zhang Kui to the Yijian Inn on West Street."
Luo Li nodded, a hint of excitement flashing in her eyes: "I understand. Any other instructions?"
"Not yet," the middle-aged man stood up and straightened his suit. "Remember, be careful."
Luo Li watched the middle-aged man leave, thinking about her next move.
Her fingers twisted together unconsciously, and her mind began to conceive how to perfectly execute this plan.
Back at the Military Control Station, Luo Li's steps were a little hurried.
Her heartbeat hadn't completely calmed down yet, and her thoughts were a mess.
After much deliberation, she decided to reveal the information to Hu Dahai, who had a good relationship with Zhang Kui.
She pretended to meet Hu Dahai by chance, with a sweet smile on her face: "Captain Hu, it's a coincidence that I ran into you."
As she spoke, she deliberately looked around to see if there was anyone around.
People passed by in the corridor from time to time.
Hu Dahai stopped and looked at Luo Li with a puzzled look: "Secretary Luo, is there something wrong?"
Luo Li looked around and made sure that there was no one around before moving closer.
She lowered her voice, a mysterious glint in her eyes: "Captain Hu, I heard about a great opportunity to make money."
Hu Dahai raised his eyebrows, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes: "Oh? What opportunity?"
Luo Li's voice lowered, almost whispering into Hu Dahai's ear, "There's a Japanese black market on West Street. It's said you can buy a lot of good stuff there."
Hu Dahai's eyes lit up, but he soon became alert again.
He took a half step back and looked Luo Li up and down: "How do you know this?"
Luo Li smiled even brighter, and she waved her hand gently, as if to drive away an invisible butterfly: "I heard it from someone.
I thought Captain Hu might be interested, so I told you. "When you go, can you bring me a bottle of Western perfume?"
Hu Dahai nodded thoughtfully, then half-believingly agreed: "Don't worry, Secretary Luo. It's just a small favor, nothing to do."
Luo Li turned and left, a barely perceptible smile on her lips.
She walked away with a brisk pace, deliberately tossing her wavy hair.
Hu Dahai stood there, thinking about Luo Li's words.
His brow furrowed slightly, his fingers unconsciously touching his chin.
He was a man of many thoughts and felt that this matter was not that simple, but he could ask others to help him.
In the afternoon, Zhang Kui's subordinates secretly told Zhang Kui.
"Chief, I saw Secretary Luo and Captain Hu whispering in the corridor for a long time at noon, as if there was something shameful going on." He said with an obscene smile.
These words made Zhang Kui unhappy. Everyone knew that Hu Dahai had always wanted to sleep with Secretary Luo.
However, he was still afraid of Stationmaster Fei, knowing that he also wanted to get Secretary Luo.
And maybe he has already got it.
So Hu Dahai usually satisfies his cravings.
"You have nothing better to do than keep an eye on Li Tiesheng. If he shows up with Secretary Luo, tell me."
"Yes, Chief."
After the spy left, Zhang Kui drank a sip of tea, still lost in thought.
So he made up an excuse and went to find Hu Dahai.
When Hu Dahai came in, Zhang Kui was looking through documents in the office.
When he saw Hu Dahai come in, he just raised his eyelids.
Hu Dahai cleared his throat and said, "Section Chief Zhang, are you looking for me?"
"Da Hai" Zhang Kui put down what he was holding.
"What do you think of our relationship here?"
As he said this, Zhang Kui patted Hu Dahai on the shoulder.
Hu Dahai's cloudy eyes rolled around in his eye sockets for a few times, and then he grinned with his mouth full of yellow teeth and said, "Brother, look at what you said. If there is anything you need me to do, just tell me directly."
Zhang Kui whispered, "Dahai, is there something good going on behind my back?"
"What good news?" Hu Dahai looked at Zhang Kui in confusion, and immediately thought of the Japanese black market.
"Oh, I remember now. I heard there's a Japanese black market on West Street. Should we go check it out?"
Zhang Kui's hand stopped in mid-air, and his head reacted 360 degrees in an instant. He raised his head and stared at Hu Dahai sharply: "Now we are only dealing with the Labor Party. The Japanese will be pressed first and then. We don't have time to worry about these things."
Hu Dahai nodded and said, "Okay, let's talk about it after drinking tonight. I have something to do over there."
"Well, you go ahead and get busy." Zhang Kui watched Hu Dahai turn around and leave.
But no one noticed that a strange light flashed in Zhang Kui's eyes.
That night, Zhang Kui quietly came to West Street.
The night was as dark as ink, and the lights on both sides of the street were dim, casting a veil of mystery over this usually bustling place.
Zhang Kui changed into a set of coarse cloth clothes, dressed up as an ordinary citizen, and wore an apprentice hat.
He walked briskly, but cautiously looked back from time to time to make sure no one was following him.
He was carrying a package over his shoulder, which contained several antiques found during the house search.
He wanted to come here and exchange it for gold bars.
These things felt heavy in his hands, and Zhang Kui dreamed of exchanging them for gold bars.
But there is an opportunity.
I heard that Japanese people like antiques very much, so they should be able to sell for a good price.
