Accidentally dressed as an empress

Chapter 1 The Deposed Princess

[Take out your brain and follow me, we can’t store it here!]

During the Warring States Period, rituals and music were in decline, and small countries emerged and fought against each other.

The Yun Kingdom, surrounded by mountains on all sides, lies in a remote corner, with a formidable natural barrier known as Yixiantian. General Zhong Luan of the Zhong family, the princess's paternal clan, had lost Yixiantiantian. If it weren't for the powerful efforts of General Lin Yan, the Yun Kingdom would have been crushed by the Yan Kingdom's cavalry in just two days.

The princess knelt at the white marble steps of the Yunji Palace to plead for Zhong Luan. His Majesty was furious and issued an imperial edict to depose the princess.

"Princess Yunxiu is dull and unfit for such a great responsibility. She must not be alone. From this day forward, her title of Crown Princess will be abolished, her imperial seal will be withdrawn, she will move out of the Eastern Palace, and establish her own residence outside the palace. I decree this."

The imperial edict to depose the princess was like a bolt from the blue. The princess was so upset that she hanged herself with a white silk scarf.

The tasker Yunxiu came over.

After Yunxiu received the memories of the original owner, she learned that this princess from the Yun Kingdom was cowardly and peace-loving, and was unwilling to compete for power with her sisters and brothers.

Yunxiu crossed her arms and shook her head. "You love peace, but who will love you? Even if you die in the East Palace, no one will know."

She was now isolated and helpless. Yunxiu thought for a moment and asked the system, "Tongzi, help me see the power of the princess."

[You have your father's clan, the Zhong family, the Eastern Palace Guards, and over a dozen retainers.]

The Zhong family? The original owner fell into trouble because she pleaded for the Zhong family. Zhong Luan was the original owner's cousin, so it would be unreasonable for the original owner not to plead for them.

Su Qing, the captain of the East Palace Guard, is her man, and her armed forces only consist of two teams of forty people.

The princess's retainers are essentially scholars who talk about morality and justice. They're all talk, not a single one of them has any real practical application. The enemy has reached your doorstep, with a knife at your throat, and you still talk about peace. Can you persuade them with your peaceful ideals to lay down their weapons and not kill you?

In troubled times, let’s not talk about benevolence and righteousness.

Yunxiu asked the system, "The original owner was abandoned because Zhong Luan lost the Line Sky. I came here late, what exactly happened?"

Zhong Luan certainly failed to hold the city. She was the most skilled martial artist among the younger generation of the Zhong family, but she was also headstrong and reckless. Fortunately, Zhong Yi, a military officer, promptly requested assistance from General Lin Zichen. Lin Zichen, along with his mother, General Lin Yan, led troops to reinforce the city, and Yun State was saved.

The Zhong family was spared from genocide, but Zhong Luan was punished for delaying military affairs and was stripped of his position as general.

Zhong Yi was also imprisoned for secretly requesting troops for help without reporting it.

Yunxiu tapped her palms with her fan and said, "Zhong Yi is a talented person. We have to rescue her."

The princess has been deposed, and if she wants to make a comeback, she can only rely on the current team. Of her paternal clan, the Zhong family, only Zhong Yi is worth saving, not Zhong Luan.

She has no one she can use now, so she saved Zhong Yi in the hope that she can be of use to her.

The system suddenly announced, "Zhong Yi is a man." It also displayed a card. Beneath the wisteria trellis stood a delicate man in a light purple dress and shirt. His beauty was as pure as ice and snow, captivating at first sight.

Yunxiu admired this beautiful woman with a manly and feminine features for a while. Whenever she recruited a character, she would receive a card. All the members of the Zhong family were on her side, including Zhong Yi.

The Yun Kingdom was founded by women. The women here are generally tall and strong, while the men are mostly short, weak and frail.

Women served as officials and generals in the court, holding important positions. Women were in charge of external affairs, while men were in charge of internal affairs. Women wore shorts or long robes and trousers, while men wore skirts.

"Join the army, Governor Zhong Yi?" Yun Xiu raised an eyebrow. "In a world where women are dominant, can men also join the army?"

[Just meet the requirements for joining the army. Not only that, Zhong Yi was a child prodigy in his youth, with a photographic memory. The host is truly discerning.]

It sounded like Zhong Yi had to be rescued. After asking the system, they found out he was currently imprisoned in the Imperial Prison.

Yunxiu left the Eastern Palace with only two female guards. The imperial prison was not far from the palace gate. It was where criminals were imprisoned.

Yunxiu walked into the prison and saw the guards on duty. She smiled kindly and tolerantly. Fortunately, she had built a reputation for being tolerant and had a good relationship with the Grand Secretary of Justice, so she was able to come in to visit. However, before that, she had only come to rescue Zhong Luan.

As we walked along, I realized that all the guards and jailers I met were women, and only then did I feel the reality of a world dominated by women.

Yun Xiu was multitasking as she flipped over Zhong Yi's card. "Zhong Yi, he's over seven feet tall, and he's a handsome man."

[This is considered a very tall man. The Yun Kingdom stipulates that one must be seven feet tall to join the army and lead troops in battle.]

Yunxiu laughed, "This rule seems to be targeting men."

Women founded the nation, and women were superior to men. All resources were tilted in their favor. Women had better educational opportunities than men, and far more women held official positions than men. For men of shorter stature, becoming a military officer was extremely difficult.

Finally, men are driven back home, made dependent on women, their upward mobility blocked, and trapped within the family. Their thoughts are disciplined, and they are forced to stay within their proper roles. This is the design of a matriarchal society.

She flipped through the lineup cards again, and another card that looked a little better was Zhong Luan. According to the information, General Zhong Luan was an eight-foot-tall Barbie doll with a body full of tendons and muscles. He held a spear and looked very capable in fighting.

The rest of the cards are mostly the scholars under her command, both male and female, but they are of little use. She has no plans to use the scholars at the moment.

The two guards leading the way had already stopped while she was thinking. She stepped forward, and the two guards turned aside. She saw the person behind the prison bars. She had to admit, Zhong Yi in person was three points more beautiful than the beauty picture on the card.

Zhong Yi was dressed in an ochre-red official robe that made his skin look as white as snow. He knelt on the thatched ground, picking up straw stalks as if he was counting them. He looked contented and not at all embarrassed.

Looking up and seeing that it was her, Zhong Yi seemed stunned for a moment, then stood up and walked to the wooden railing and said, "Your Highness, why are you here?"

Yunxiu stood outside the wooden fence and said, "Cousin Yi, I heard you were imprisoned. It's so unreasonable. You were implicated innocently."

"I have violated the law and must accept my punishment. Your Highness, please do not worry about this. Please go visit my sister."

This young man was quite arrogant and ignored the olive branch she offered. Yunxiu asked the system, did he think someone would save him?

Zhong Yi is only a bastard of the Zhong family, and at this moment, the Zhong family is all busy with Zhong Luan and has no time to save him. However, he is engaged to Lin Zichen, his childhood sweetheart, so he may be pinning his hopes on the Lin family.

Yunxiu looked at Zhong Yi's calm face and said, "Your engagement has already been broken off by the Lin family. They probably won't protect you anymore."

His face showed no emotion, his back straight, and he bowed respectfully, "That is Yi's will. Please return, Princess."

It was obvious that Zhong Yi did not trust her.

Yunxiu lowered her eyes, "I'm not a young lady anymore. But," Yunxiu paused, "I will do my best to get you out of prison, but I may have to put you in a difficult position."

She had to take this young man under her wing. His stubborn attitude aroused her desire to win.
