The Emperor's Favorite: The Useless and Crazy Concubine Who Conquers the World
Chapter 90 Watching under the Starry Night
Lin Wan'er took out some dry food and water and shared them with everyone. In this peaceful forest, they temporarily forgot the fatigue of the journey.
After resting, they continued on their journey.
Lan Yunyan knows that this forest may hide unknown dangers, but they also believe that as long as they unite as one, nothing can stop them from moving forward. Their goal is to pass through this forest and find the way home.
As night fell, the light in the forest became dimmer. They lit a bonfire and sat around it, the firelight shining on their faces, warm and bright.
As the night deepened, the creatures in the forest began to quiet down, with only the occasional chirping of insects and the howling of wolves in the distance breaking the tranquility of the night.
Lan Yunyan and her friends set up a simple tent next to the campfire, preparing to spend their first night in the forest.
Inside the tent, Lan Yunyan tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
Suddenly, there was a strange noise outside, as if something was approaching the tent.
Lan Yunyan sat up alertly, gripping her sword tightly. Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er were also awakened and prepared for battle.
The sound got closer and closer, and finally, a pack of wild wolves appeared outside the tent, their eyes flashing green and saliva dripping from the corners of their mouths onto the ground.
Lan Yunyan's heart beat faster. She knew that what she encountered this time was not just an ordinary beast, but a group of cunning and ferocious wolves.
She whispered to Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er, "You two, prepare your bows and arrows, wait for my signal, and shoot together." Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er nodded and quickly picked up their weapons.
The wolves seemed to be waiting for the best time to attack. They formed a circle and surrounded the tent.
Lan Yunyan knew that once the wolves attacked, they had to react quickly, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous.
She took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. She knew fear was the greatest enemy in battle. She gripped her sword tightly, the cold sweat on the hilt giving her a sense of reality, which only made her focus more.
Suddenly, a wolf let out a deep howl, a signal for an attack. The pack began to charge toward the tent. Lan Yunyan shouted and charged out, sword in hand. Her swordsmanship was swift and accurate, and with her first strike, she severed a wolf's front leg.
Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er were not to be outdone. Their arrows flew out like meteors, accurately hitting the vital points of several wolves. The wolves' offensive was temporarily suppressed, but they did not give up, instead attacking even more frantically.
As Lan Yunyan fought, she observed the wolves' movements. She discovered that they seemed to have some kind of organization; they weren't attacking randomly, but were acting under the command of a larger wolf. She realized that if she could eliminate that wolf, the pack's offensive would collapse.
She signaled to Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er to cover her. She took a deep breath and rushed towards the leading wolf like an arrow. The wolves seemed to realize Lan Yunyan's intentions, and several wolves immediately blocked her way.
Lan Yunyan's sword dance became faster. Her sword flashed like lightning, knocking down the wolves that blocked her way one by one. She finally approached the leading wolf without hesitation.
The leading wolf roared, its eyes gleaming with ferocity. Lan Yunyan pointed her sword straight at its throat, knowing this would be the decisive blow.
At that moment, a wolf pounced at her from the side, forcing her to turn around to deal with it. But this turn made her lose the opportunity to attack the leader wolf. The leader wolf took the opportunity to pounce on her, its claws as sharp as knives, heading straight for Lan Yunyan's throat.
Lan Yunyan reacted quickly, blocking the wolf's attack with her sword, but the wolf's immense strength forced her back repeatedly. Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er, upon seeing this, immediately fired several arrows to Lan Yunyan's rescue.
Lan Yunyan took the opportunity to steady herself and swung her sword again. This time, she didn't give the leading wolf any chance. With a flash of sword light, the leading wolf let out a scream and fell to the ground.
When the wolves saw their leader being killed, they immediately lost their fighting spirit and began to flee in all directions.
Lan Yunyan, Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er did not pursue them because they knew that the wolves no longer posed a threat.
After the fight, all three of them breathed a sigh of relief. They checked each other's injuries and luckily, apart from some scrapes and bruises, no one was seriously hurt.
Lan Yunyan looked at the wolves lying on the ground, feeling a sense of emotion. These once ferocious beasts now lay silent and silent, the fragility and impermanence of life clearly revealed in this moment.
They cleaned up the battlefield, disposed of the wolf's carcass, and then rebuilt the tent.
When the tent was set up again and the campfire was burning, the warm light illuminated their tired faces.
Lan Yunyan leaned against the edge of the tent, looking up at the starry sky. The stars in the night sky twinkled faintly, as if countless pairs of eyes were silently watching them.
She thought of her family far away and wondered what they were doing at the moment.
Lan Yunyan's thoughts drifted away with the starlight, and her heart was filled with longing for home.
She sighed softly, put the sword aside, closed her eyes, and tried to picture her home in her mind.
Yun Mengyao and Lin Wan'er also sat quietly on the other side of the tent. They were also attracted by the quiet night.
Yun Mengyao took out a flute and played it softly. The sound was melodious, with a hint of sadness, as if expressing their longing for home.
Lin Wan'er took out a piece of paper and a pen and began to write a letter. Although she knew that this letter might never be sent, she still wanted to write down her feelings.
She wrote: "Dear family, I don't know if you can receive this letter, but I want to tell you that I am doing well here. I have met some great friends. We have experienced many difficulties together and have overcome them together."
