Conan: Life between Green Plum and Skyfall
Chapter 44: Suicide Note 2
Cheng Shi watched helplessly as the dazed old policeman in front of him took out his father's will before him, and walked towards the door with the suicide note.
"No, wait! Where are you going?!"
Immediately afterwards, in Chengshi's puzzled and Conan's frightened eyes, the old policeman opened the door and walked towards Conan.
"Oh my god! Could it be... No way! Is this skill really that outrageous?"
It was only then that Conan realized where the problem might be! When he activated his skill earlier, he said: Give Aso Keiji's relics to 'me'!
Under normal circumstances, there would be no problem with this sentence, after all, she used Cheng Shi's voice, but she had just activated a skill.
According to this meaning, the meaning of the sentence just now should be:
Find Keiji Aso's belongings and give them to Conan!
Thinking of this, Conan was completely numb. What a joke! Why did he let Cheng Shi come forward? Wasn't it because he didn't want to expose his existence? If this old policeman really saw him, then what was his purpose in hiding himself!
Thinking of this, Conan made a prompt decision and hid in the blind spot behind the door. When the old policeman came out, he shot an anesthetic needle straight into the old policeman's neck.
The poor old policeman fell into a coma without knowing anything.
At this time, Cheng Shi came out of the house and looked at the old man lying on the ground with a look of surprise:
"What's wrong with him?"
Conan looked at the old man with disdain:
"Who knows? Just think he's suffering from Alzheimer's and ignore him! Aren't you curious about what your father wrote? Do you want to take a look now?"
Cheng Shi hesitated for a moment:
"I am indeed a little curious, but what should this old gentleman do?"
Looking at the old policeman lying on the ground, not knowing when he would wake up, Cheng Shi asked with some concern.
Conan was stunned when he heard this! Although according to Dr. Agasa, the effect of this anesthetic injection is enough to make an ordinary person sleep for more than half an hour, but considering the actual performance of this thing...
Conan shuddered:
"Tie him up, cover his mouth and eyes, and hide him somewhere secret. When we return, we can take him with us."
He didn't want this old man to expose Cheng Shi's condition because of his momentary negligence! If that happened, the clinic would be in danger!
Chengshi nodded, and according to Conan's instructions, he found a rope and a blindfold from somewhere, tied up the old police officer tightly, and brought him back to the house.
Then, the two began to read the suicide note left by Cheng Shi's father.
Unlike in the anime, the suicide note left by Keiji Aso was not written in code, but in ordinary words.
When Conan saw the densely packed text on it, he was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
That makes sense! What good person would have the time before dying to write dozens of pages of secret codes known to their murderer?
It would be fine if the murderers like Heiyan didn't know the code, but the problem is, they knew the code existed! If they knew, what difference would it make whether the code was written or not?
At the same time, it was precisely because Keiji Aso's suicide note was not written in code that the old police officer was able to see through the truth hidden on the island, and thus coerce Kuroiwa and the others to become their umbrella of protection.
Cheng Shi smiled and waved the suicide note in his hand at Conan:
"Little Detective, you see, your information is wrong! My father's suicide note is not a piece of music!"
Conan rolled his eyes at this cross-dressing man who was in a much better mood:
"Okay, okay, I get it! But tell me, did we find it in the end?"
Cheng Shi smiled lightly and said nothing more. He just put the suicide note in his hand on the table and read it with Conan.
The previous content is basically the same as what Conan knows, it is a letter to his son:
Let Chengshi not feel resentment because of his death;
He said he was an unqualified father who had done something wrong. No matter what the outcome was, it was all his own fault.
At the same time, tell Chengshi that he must be strong and live on even if he is alone.
However, the subsequent content is very different from the original.
In the anime and manga, the suicide note written in coded code that Conan saw contained information about the four deceased people and Aso Keiji, who had died twelve years earlier, who had teamed up to purchase heroin from overseas.
But the suicide note in front of them truly recorded the biggest secret of Moon Shadow Island: the truth that the islanders grew poppies, produced and sold heroin.
It seemed that when Keiji Aso proposed that he wanted to quit, he had a premonition that he might encounter an accident, so he recorded in advance the names of the islanders who were involved in the drug trafficking group, the location of the private poppy cultivation, and the evidence he had of the villagers on the island participating in drug trafficking.
And at the end, there is a page addressed to the police officer:
"Mr. Officer, if I'm right, you should be the first person to see this suicide note! I hope that after reading this suicide note, you can completely expose the darkness on this island!"
I don’t want this island where I was born and raised to fall completely into darkness.
Of course, if possible, please pass on the above words I want to say to my son when he grows up. At the same time, please tell him:
"Dad did something wrong, and this punishment is what he deserves! The flames will wash away my sins."
Although I'm sorry for your mother and sister, but now that things have come to this, there's no turning back! Please just live your life well, alone.
We love you forever!'
Looking at Keiji Aso's last words, Cheng Shi and Conan were silent.
Conan felt sorry for Aso Keiji. Whether it was the content written to Cheng Shi or the letter left to the old police officer, they should be the suicide notes he wrote when he found himself and his family trapped in the fire and unable to escape.
Unfortunately, he thought of everything except the possibility that the old police officer was not a good person.
Conan looked at Cheng Shi, who was sitting next to him in silence, and stood up and patted his shoulder:
"Okay, don't overthink it! Although some accidents happened, your father's relics finally saw the light of day, didn't they? Moreover, with its help, the darkness on this island can be completely cleared away!"
Cheng Shi raised his head with a look of disappointment, and looked ahead with a somewhat empty look in his eyes:
"Yes, but the price is too high!"
(There is a lot to say, and the author can’t put it all down, so I’ll write it later)
The plot of Moon Shadow Island is basically finished. Honestly, I tried my best to make the logic as logical as possible. 73 might not have thought too much about it when he was drawing the comic, but when I read it, I always felt that there were a few loopholes. To make the plot more reasonable, I started to think about how to fill them, and then I discovered this police officer in the plot.
If you only read the original work, he might just be an NPC that refreshes key items, but if you regard Conan as a real world, his actions are a bit too coincidental!
He suddenly brought up the existence of a suicide note, and he was the only one who found such a crucial piece of evidence. So is it possible that he had tampered with it?
Following this line of thought, I found that the plot bugs seemed to be filled in at once! Why didn't Heiyan and the others know Chengshi? Because they didn't see the suicide note;
Why did Aso Keiji have the time to write such a thick sheet of music using even more complex codes when he was clearly in the fire? Because the sheet of music was forged;
To borrow a line from the original novel: A suicide note is meant to be read by others, so why go to the trouble of writing it in code? The reason is simple: handwriting can be authenticated, but codes cannot!
Also, in the original novel, when Conan was deducing, why did the suicide note only mention the four dead people involved in drug trafficking? The only one still alive, Hirata, was arrested because Conan caught him in the act, because someone secretly pushed all the blame on the dead person!
(Of course, I probably didn’t think so much when I drew 73)
In short, following this line of thought, the magically modified version of the Moon Shadow Island case came out.
Of course, I've tried my best to avoid bugs when writing this, so there might still be some holes somewhere, so please bear with me. If you have any ideas or comments, please feel free to share them.
There should be a few more chapters about Moonshade Island, but that's basically it, just the finishing touches. Then, I need to figure out which storyline to move on to next.
