Chapter 317: Lost

"Ring ring ring..."

Before Yuan Lai could finish his words, Lin Tingting suddenly called.

"I've already been to the hospital. Sister Ranran said she was going to the hospital for a minor surgery today, and she and her husband have been waiting outside the operating room."

"What child? Jiang Qingtian is sick?"

"It's not a serious illness, maybe a hernia or something like that. I didn't ask about it in detail. After all, it's a private matter."

Yuan Lai hummed.

"You haven't told me yet, why are you suddenly asking me this? Are you okay?"

Yuan Lai thought for a long time. What could have happened to one or two of them? She was about to graduate, so what could have happened?

"I'm fine. I'm eating."

"That's good. I'll hang up first. They're waiting for me to go to the meeting here."

After hanging up the phone, Yuan Lai turned around, but Yuan Sheng was no longer there. This kid went to play games again.

After Yuan Lai had eaten and drunk his fill, he returned to his bedroom, picked up the power bank on the bed, and put all the scattered clothes back into the closet. He looked back at the bag on the table, took it, opened the box, and saw the necklace inside. "I hear they spent a lot of money this time! Could it be some high-end jewelry from some brand?"

Yuan Lai picked up a necklace and put it around her neck. She looked left and right in the mirror and was very satisfied.

"This necklace is very beautiful."

She took off the necklace and put it back in the box. It looked pretty, but it was too flashy. It was the kind that would be snatched away if she went out on the street. She decided to put it aside and wear it on important occasions.

After tidying up the house, Yuan Lai crawled into bed, intending to have a good sleep.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, she suddenly heard a faint singing voice coming from downstairs. The singing was lingering and went straight into her head.

The voice was very familiar, but she just couldn't remember where she had heard it.

"Yuan Sheng!" She climbed out of bed, walked to the window, and shouted downstairs, "Turn down the volume of your TV! It's disturbing everyone!"

Yuan Sheng poked his head out of the game room on the second floor and said innocently, "I'm not watching TV. Are you hallucinating?"

Yuan Lai pricked up his ears and listened again, but he could hear nothing.

She closed the window, puzzled. Was she hallucinating? But the drifting singing was coming from downstairs. If it wasn't her own home, it could be a neighbor's party.

Yuan Lai returned to the bed and casually picked up her cell phone, but accidentally dropped something on the ground. She picked it up and saw that it was a sign with white letters on a blue background.

"What is that?" She looked at it again and again, put the sign into the drawer, turned over and covered herself with the quilt.

But just as she was about to fall asleep, the singing started again, disturbing her.

"Whose good person is singing and dancing at home?"

Yuan Lai quickly changed his clothes, feeling angry and wanting to see which hateful neighbor was so uncultured.

She hurried downstairs in her slippers. When she pushed open the door, Yuan Lai had no idea that she would step into the mud.

"It's still raining!" Yuan Lai lifted his muddy feet and was about to turn back into the house to change shoes before coming out again.

But what horrified her was that the familiar apartment building had disappeared without a trace, replaced by a vast yellow rice field and a muddy path.

Just as Yuan Lai was shocked, a bus slowly stopped in front of her.

When the car door opened, a group of brightly dressed men emerged one after another. They were tall and straight, their faces full of disbelief.

And what about Yuan Lai? She'd simply thrown on a pair of wide-leg pants and a thin coat before heading out. To make matters worse, she was wearing a pair of cold sandals, and the wind blowing through the woods made her shiver all over.

"Ah? Director, are we really living here?! It looks like a warehouse to me."

"No way? Can it be lived in?"

The man called the director got out of the car and smiled mysteriously, "Hey, now that we're here, where else can we hide? Take the luggage down and go take a look."

The other man in the lead noticed Yuan Lai first. He stretched out a piece of his wrist and pointed at Yuan Lai in surprise, "Hey! Why are you here dressed like this? It's the end of November, and I'm still wearing a sweater."

Another head popped out from the back, looked at Yuan Lai curiously, and then gave a thumbs up, "Awesome, so awesome. I recognize you as my sister."

Yuan Lai was completely bewildered. Did these two people seem to know her? Did they even know she was coming?

The others noticed what was happening and turned around, "Yuan Lai, what are you doing standing on the ground? Come up!"

The man wearing the turtleneck sweater opened his suitcase, took out a white down jacket and handed it to Yuan Lai, "Take mine first."

Yuan Lai took the clothes, put them on, and asked, "Who are you..."

What the hell is going on? Where is she? Why did her home disappear?

"I'm Li Hao! Have you forgotten?"

"I'm Wang Yiheng."

The others came out from behind the car, pushing their suitcases. They didn't look particularly surprised to see Yuan Lai, and introduced themselves one by one, saying, "You can call me Dun Dun or Brother Jiang, or Brother Dun."

"Then you can call me Second Brother or Brother Zhuo."

Someone next to him answered, "What are you talking about, Brother Zhuo and Brother Lu?"

"Ah, yes, yes, you can call him Brother Zhuo or Brother Yuan."

"My name is Zhao Yibo, you can call me whatever you want."

"My last name is Zhao too, Xiaotong or Tongge."

"Then I'm Chen... That doesn't sound good, Brother Xi, it's not that great either. Oh, just call me Shao Xi, you're not more than two years younger than me anyway."

The remaining two people were busy checking luggage in the crowd. After everyone finished speaking, one of them looked up and said, "You and I are from the same hometown. You can call me Xiao He, Brother Nan, or whatever. As for this guy, you can call him Brother Yun."

Yuan Lai tried hard to remember everyone's name, but she found that these names stayed in her mind for less than a second before flowing away like water.

Seeing that they hadn't moved yet, the director came over to check on the situation himself. Seeing Yuan Lai, he walked over and greeted her cordially, "Isn't your home in the village? Oh, you want to see where they live, too? Then let's go! I guarantee you'll be satisfied!"

Yuan Lai walked from the field to the path, watching the teams pushing their luggage away. A warmth rose in his heart, and he could no longer feel the biting cold wind.

"Why aren't you leaving yet? Are your feet numb from the cold?"

Someone behind her seemed to be mocking her, but Yuan Lai turned around and saw no one.

"Where are you looking? Hey!"

Following the sound, Yuan Lai looked down and saw a cute little puppy standing behind her, wagging its tail.

Yuan Lai said in disbelief, "Even you know me?"

The puppy looked at her in confusion, "Are you confused after a good sleep? I live near your house! You even feed me food. If it weren't for Xiao Hei trying to take over my territory, I wouldn't leave!"

Yuan Lai rubbed her cold feet. She was not just drowsy from sleep, she was probably frozen silly.
