Mythical Cultivation

Chapter 65 Before Leaving the Sect

After figuring out his current path, Wu Ming prepared to leave the sect. He first visited the Deacon's Hall to review the missions, ultimately accepting two. One was a D-level mission to help a village in Changxin County resolve a missing person issue, offering a mid-grade magical artifact as a reward. Changxin County was a county seat four thousand miles north of Qingyun Sect. Originally, the city was manned by Qingyun Sect inner disciples, but due to a delay, they reported the matter to the sect, requesting they send additional personnel to resolve the issue.

The other was also a D-rank mission, searching for poison sacs. The more types, the higher the reward. There was a swamp less than a thousand miles from Changxin County, which must have contained a lot of poisonous creatures. So Wu Ming took on both missions simultaneously.

After taking on the task, Wu Ming first found Li Fei, Wang Xiaohu and Ishikawa to gather together.

"Brother Ming, how come you have time to get together with us today? Usually you are either busy practicing or reading in the library."

Wang Xiaohu also raised his own doubts. Of the three, he had been the last to become an outer disciple, almost two years earlier. During those two years, the few of them had spent less than a handful of time together, mainly because Wu Ming's schedule was packed.

Li Fei and Ishikawa also had this question. When they saw Wang Xiaohu asked it, they both looked at Wu Ming.

"It's not that I don't want to get together with you, but my strength is too low, and I've offended the top figures in the outer sect. For your sake, I don't want to bring you any trouble. Didn't you see that every time we get together, it's done in secret? If Liu Lei and his group knew about the relationship between us, you would all be in trouble."

Wang Xiaohu and the others also knew how powerful the force Wu Ming was facing, so they usually acted like ordinary brothers, and no one knew that they were from the same village.

"It's also because we are weak and can't help much. We still have to practice hard. The initiative must be in our own hands." Li Fei said angrily.

"You need to practice well," Ishikawa also said.

"To think that the four heroes of Lijia Village have fallen to such a state that they can barely move forward, how glorious they were in the past, and how destitute they are now."

Wang Xiaohu also recalled the prestige they enjoyed in the Novice Court when they were still reserve disciples. He never expected how miserable they would be after becoming outer disciples. He dared not reveal their relationship. This also made Wang Xiaohu feel an urgency to cultivate. Among the four, Ishikawa had the least talent, but he became an outer disciple before him. This was due to Ishikawa's own hard work.

It also had something to do with Wang Xiaohu's inconsistent approach to cultivation. Wang Xiaohu was too extroverted, unable to concentrate on his training. Therefore, despite his considerable talent, his progress was slow. However, after becoming an outer disciple, his experience over the past year or so had slightly altered his relaxed nature. This was a desire for greater strength, which in turn led to a shift in his personality. It's unclear whether this will be a good or bad thing for him in the future, but at least for now, it's showing a positive side.

Li Fei was originally arrogant and had only thought about competing with Wu Ming when he first joined Qingyun Sect. However, after several years of training, his edges gradually softened. He realized that although he had good talent, if he didn't work hard, the gap between him and Wu Ming would only widen.

After learning about Wu Ming's predicament, he was unable to help him, which made him feel guilty. At the same time, he put more energy into cultivation. Now he has reached the fifth level of Qi training, but this strength is of no real help to Wu Ming.

"Cultivation certainly can't be neglected, but we also need to grasp the right degree, and don't leave hidden dangers for the sake of speed. You don't have to blame yourself for not being able to help me. I understand your intentions."

He also gave them five of the first-level high-level talismans he had practiced before, mainly because he didn't have many on hand and would need them when he went out. As for the low-level talismans, they were no longer powerful enough for Wu Ming, so he planned to sell them all when he got to the market.

"These talismans are perfect for you. I've refined some over the past few years and will share some with you so you can have more skills. I'll also be going out on a mission soon. You should practice well in the sect. When you become stronger, we can go out together to gain experience."

After Wang Xiaohu and the other two left, Wu Ming started messaging Huang Hao and the other two. He told them he was planning to go out for training and see if anyone would join him. However, Zhao Xiaohai was the only one home; Huang Hao and Mei Lingshuang were not there.

Later, Zhao Xiaohai heard that Huang Hao and the others were currently on a mission within the sect, and presumably didn't have time to team up with him. Zhao Xiaohai, on the other hand, was preparing to break through to the sixth level of Qi Refining, so he declined Wu Ming's invitation and also raised a question for Wu Ming.

"If we go out at this time of year, Liu Lei and his gang will be keeping an eye on us, just waiting for this opportunity."

"Originally, I was planning to wait until my strength improved before going out to explore the world, but I found that blindly practicing hard wouldn't quickly improve my cultivation. This was also forced by the situation. However, with my current cultivation level, it won't be a big problem if I'm careful."

"Since you have made up your mind, I wish you smooth sailing, but be careful." Zhao Xiaohai stopped persuading him.

Now that everything was arranged, Wu Ming didn't hesitate any longer. He activated his Light Body Technique and headed down the mountain toward Qingyun Market. He planned to sell the talismans he didn't need and purchase a Spirit Boat, something he'd wanted to buy for a long time, but had either been short on cash or hadn't had the opportunity. Since his destination wasn't too far away, he'd need a Spirit Boat. So, he decided to buy one first, and with the rest, buy some medicine before embarking on his quest.

Just as Wu Ming had just left Qingyun Sect, an outer disciple at the foot of the mountain also took out a sound transmission talisman.

"Senior Brother Xiao, Wu Ming has left the sect and is heading towards Qingyun Market."

Xiao Moyang, who was cultivating in the sect, was stunned when he suddenly received this news. How dare this kid leave the sect? Although he didn't know what Wu Ming was thinking, he still reported it to Liu Lei.

Since Wu Ming has left the sect, things will be easier to handle. The world is so big and all kinds of things can happen. The death or disappearance of an outer disciple will probably not cause any waves in Qingyun Sect.

Originally, if Wu Ming and his companions had stayed within the sect, nothing would have happened; at most, they would have been harassed or bullied. After all, even if there were conflicts among disciples within the sect, casualties were not allowed. But if Wu Ming left the sect, if anything happened, it would be nobody's fault; it would just be his bad luck.

Under Liu Lei's arrangement, Xiao Moyang teamed up with Tang Zhaojun, an eighth-level Qi Refining disciple also working for Liu Lei, to eliminate Wu Ming. This was partly because Xiao Moyang's previous attempts had failed, leaving Liu Lei feeling he was ineffective and seeking someone to monitor him. It was also to ensure a smoother elimination of Wu Ming. If Wu Ming's fighting power exploded or he had some hidden weapon, Liu Lei doubted there would be any further mishaps with the combined efforts of two eighth-level Qi Refining cultivators.

The two of them quickly left the sect and headed towards Qingyun Market.
