【Interstellar Contract Magician】Ruyuanke
Chapter 295 [Empire] Absurd
He was stunned for a moment, as if he didn't expect me to respond so directly. A hint of surprise flashed across his eyes, followed by a slight pain.
He lowered his head, as if trying to find something in my words, but he didn't know where to start. There was a depressing atmosphere in the air, and the silence made everything even heavier.
I looked at his expression and felt an unknown irritation in my heart.
It felt strange, like being trapped in a seemingly unsolvable dilemma, wanting to escape but with nowhere to go. That man, Shan Qi's "past," all these seemingly simple emotional connections never allowed me to make a decision.
"You can disgust anyone you want," I continued, my voice cold and unrelenting, "but you shouldn't treat me like a fool. You won't be able to win back Shan Qi's heart by doing this."
It was obvious that my words had touched a sore spot in him. The faint smile on his face gradually disappeared and he looked deeply tired.
He looked up at me, his deep eyes filled with a mixture of emotions: anger, disappointment, and regret. He seemed to have lost something important, but didn't know how to make up for it.
I felt that my words seemed to have no effect, but instead made the person in front of me feel more lonely and confused.
I felt a sudden surge of sympathy and annoyance. I had no responsibility towards him, but I couldn't remain completely indifferent.
"Do you think you're pathetic?" I finally spoke, a hint of fatigue in my voice. "You think being close to me like this will change anything? You're wrong. You're hurting Shan Qi, and you're also hurting yourself. You're only making yourself more miserable. You won't gain anything."
He didn't say anything, just sighed softly. It was as if he no longer had the energy to argue. His eyes were a little empty, as if he wanted to find something, but found that it was too late.
I stood there, feeling somewhat reluctant, but unable to do anything. Because I knew that the situation between Shan Qi and him was far more complicated than I had imagined, and I was not qualified to interfere.
"If you really want to do something, let yourself go, and let Shan Qi go." I said calmly, "You can do it yourself."
He was speechless. In the silence, he finally let me go. At that moment, the air seemed to become even more stagnant, and the entire room was filled with an inexplicable emotion. I don't know why he let me go, but I know that no matter how he struggled with his feelings, he ultimately couldn't truly touch me.
He slowly turned and left. I stood there, watching him disappear, feeling a hollowness in my heart. Who was disgusting whom? Who was torturing themselves? Who was hurting whom?
As night fell, the room became quiet again, with only the breeze outside the window and the city lights in the distance. I knew that today's conversation had not changed anything, but had made everything more complicated.
I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, or whether he will continue to play the role of a loyal person to Shan Qi, still waiting and looking forward to a belated redemption.
But for me, I always knew that my world and his world had no intersection. Or maybe it was only for one or two months, and then one or two months after a year?
Just as I was about to enter the room, I was once again wrapped in a cold embrace. He kissed me on the lips without hesitation, and cold tears slid from his face across mine, continuing to drip.
His action was so sudden, as if without warning. The cold tears hit my skin, and my heart sank instantly. The feeling of despair and helplessness ran down my spine like a chill. My heartbeat accelerated, and I didn't know how to react.
He held me tight, forcing me into that unfamiliar intimacy.
When his cold lips touched mine, I could almost feel all his pain, as if he felt that this was the only way to get some redemption. I was a little stunned by his tears, my mind was in a mess, and I wanted to push him away, but I couldn't move at all.
"Let me go!" I finally couldn't help but roar in a low voice, my voice hoarse but full of anger.
His kiss did not stop because of my rejection, but seemed even more crazy, as if nothing else mattered.
Tears continued to fall from his eyes, his lips etched with eagerness and despair. Those tears carried the struggle and pain within him, yet none of it softened my heart. I simply stood there, a mixture of anger, confusion, and heartache, yet I couldn't find an outlet.
My hands unconsciously clenched, and I finally pushed him away, pushing him a few steps away. He stumbled back, a look of bewilderment in his eyes, as if he hadn't expected my reaction.
"What are you doing?" I asked through gritted teeth, my voice trembling, but it could no longer hide my anger.
He stared at me blankly, his eyes filled with despair and pain, as if a drowning man had grabbed at the last piece of driftwood, but there was nothing to grab. His body looked so weak, as if it would collapse at any time.
"Why don't you let me go? I was wrong." His voice was low and tearful, and the tears almost made him collapse.
I gasped, my gaze cold and icy. The turmoil of emotions within me made it nearly impossible to control myself. He was torturing himself, and me too. He knew he was wrong, yet he refused to let go, trapped in this painful cycle.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly, my tone so cold that it felt unfamiliar to me.
He choked up, tears in his eyes: "I want an answer, a chance... a chance... to make Shan Qi change his mind."
As I listened to him, a complex wave of emotions welled up within me. No matter how hard he struggled, no matter how much he suffered, he couldn't change what had already happened. Shan Qi's heart had already been made up, and there was nothing he could do to change that outcome. No matter how much he tried to salvage it, it was doomed to fail.
I took a deep breath and finally calmed down. My gaze became resolute, and my tone was icy: "Shan Qi has made his choice. You are only pushing yourself into deeper pain. It's meaningless."
His body froze as if struck by lightning, his expression instantly blank, as if he had never heard such words before. His eyes went from blank to desperate, and looking at him, I felt a deep sense of exhaustion.
"Let yourself go," I whispered, with a hint of helplessness in my tone, "and let Shan Qi go too."
I turned around, walked into the room without mercy, and closed the door. His trembling voice came from behind me, but it never made me turn back. I stood behind the door, leaning against it, and closed my eyes for a long time.
