The Great Doctor Girl

Chapter 4 We are each other's salvation

I stood quietly beside Huang Junze's bed, my eyes flowing over him like water. When he began to recount the past that had left him with such unbearable pain, my heart suddenly trembled slightly, as if it had been hit hard by a heavy hammer.

Although deep down in my heart, I had already vaguely sensed that he was carrying a heavy heart knot, however, when I listened to that unbearable memory with my own ears, I was still shocked by the unspeakable pain that went deep into my bones.

"Since then, I no longer believe in love, and I feel unworthy of marriage." Huang Junze's voice was as low as an echo from the depths of a valley, filled with endless fatigue and deep helplessness. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly with difficulty, and that bitter smile was like a withered flower blooming alone in the darkness, filled with self-mockery and despair, a furious roar against the cruelty of fate, and a sad denial of his own inability to control his own life.

"Every time you come closer, I do feel better, but this only fills me with fear. I'm afraid that once I get close to you, I'll repeat the same mistakes, being ruthlessly abandoned and played tricks by fate like before." Every word Huang Junze said seemed to be squeezed out from the depths of his soul, heavy and full of despair, like a sharp blade, cutting my heart again and again.

I sighed softly, and that sigh was like the fallen leaves in late autumn, carrying with it endless pity and cherishing.

My gaze is as gentle as the warm spring sun, yet as firm as a thousand-year-old rock.

I know very well that his fear comes not only from the broken and heartbreaking failed relationship, but also from the deep sense of powerlessness and despair about his own destiny.

"Huang Junze, I never deny that fate can bring heart-wrenching pain," I spoke slowly, my voice soft but firm and powerful, like the dawn breaking through the darkness, "but as the mysterious hexagrams indicate, fate has already been predestined. All we can do is to move forward bravely at the right time, rather than cowardly escape." My voice seemed to carry magical power, trying to break through the thick, leaden fog in his heart.

Huang Junze fell silent, and a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes for a moment, as if a fierce battle like a storm was going on in his heart.

I know clearly that at this moment his heart is not calm at all, but turbulent. However, he needs time, a long time to understand and accept all this.

"You may never know that whenever you come close to me, even if I have more than a thousand dollars on me, I will not feel such unbearable pain." Huang Junze closed his eyes tightly, his tone full of self-mockery and helplessness, as if all this was an absurd joke played by fate on him.

I nodded gently, my eyes gentle yet revealing unwavering determination. "This is undoubtedly our destined connection. Your illness stems from the unpredictable nature of fate, and I am the one chosen by destiny to balance your fate."

I took a few steps closer, my fingers gently brushing against the cold sweat on his forehead. My voice was as gentle as a spring breeze, yet incredibly firm as I said, "You don't have to be afraid, because I will always be by your side, never leaving you. All your problems will be easily solved."

"You should be able to feel by now that there is nothing suspicious about me."

Huang Junze's breathing gradually became steady and long, and the pain frowning between his brows seemed to be gently smoothed by an invisible and gentle hand.

To him, my existence seemed like a mysterious and powerful invisible force that could not only relieve his physical pain, but also soothe the endless anxiety and fear deep in his heart.

"Your body is slowly recovering." I said softly, my voice full of relief and expectation.

Huang Junze opened his eyes slightly, but there was a hint of confusion and doubt in his eyes.

Half an hour had passed when I woke up.

He stared at my face intently, as if he wanted to deeply engrave every word I said and every expression in his mind, and carefully consider the deep meaning behind them.

He knew clearly that his body would indeed improve significantly when he was close to me, but he still couldn't fully believe the so-called fate behind this mysterious relationship.

"Luo Shu..." He called my name softly, his voice filled with hesitation and painful struggle. "If we get married, can it really solve all the problems that plague us?"

I smiled faintly and shook my head gently, my eyes gleaming with an incomparable determination. "I've never naively believed that marriage could solve all the world's problems like a magic spell. Fate is never so simple and easy. But at least, we can work hand in hand to face those difficult problems together and strive together to break those shackles that you think are inextricable. You must understand that I don't want to trap you in the cold cage of fate. My only wish is to help you and me break free from these heavy shackles."

The air seemed to freeze at this moment, becoming unusually quiet. Huang Junze's gaze slowly withdrew from the distant void outside the window and refocused on my face.

His heart was still struggling in pain. The deep scars left in his heart by past failed relationships were like thorns that were difficult to remove and heal.

After a long, long time, Huang Junze sighed slowly and heavily, his voice low and hoarse: "I need time... more and more time."

I nodded slightly, a gentle smile spreading across my face, like the warmest spring sunshine. "I completely understand. You have ample time to carefully consider and make a decision that is truly yours. I will never force you to make any choice that goes against your heart. I only sincerely hope that you can gradually move on from the dark shadows of your past."

Huang Junze's body relaxed a little, perhaps because I gave him enough space, or perhaps because I never forced him.

His gaze lingered on my face briefly, and he finally nodded silently. He slowly sat up from the bed with difficulty, and then left the treatment room with heavy steps.

As I watched his back gradually disappear from my sight, an indescribable deep sigh welled up in my heart.

Huang Junze has bravely taken that difficult first step and bravely faced the dark past that made him so painful that he almost collapsed.

However, I know very clearly that the road ahead is destined to be not smooth, and is full of unknown difficulties and thorns.

This is not only to treat his physical illness, but also to heal his broken and scarred heart.

I slowly walked back to the clinic's lounge, slowly sat down on the edge of the bed, and quietly stared at the deep night sky outside the window.

Those faint starlights appear so small and weak against the backdrop of the bright lights of the city, as if the trajectory of fate is being wantonly stirred by an invisible hand, full of endless unknowns and unpredictability.

"Huang Junze, I am your medicine, but you don't know that you are also my destiny." I murmured to myself in a low voice, my tone full of complex and tangled emotions.

All of this has never been as clear and profound as it is now.

Others get married for love, but we get married to survive.
