God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 86 Regaining the Trust of the Villagers

Chu Feng's vision blurred, and when he opened his eyes again, he found himself still standing under the old tree at the village entrance, but the strange red light had disappeared. He turned to look at Pan Yue and Liu Lingmai Researcher, and found them with bewildered expressions, seemingly unaware of what had just happened. "Just now..." Chu Feng was about to ask, but was interrupted.

"It's him! He is in cahoots with those monsters!" A villager pointed at Chu Feng and shouted.

Soon after, more and more villagers poured out of the houses, holding hoes and sticks in their hands, their eyes full of fear and hostility.

"Catch him! Don't let him get away!"

"He must be here to harm us!"

The villagers were outraged and surrounded Chu Feng and the other two.

Chu Feng's heart sank. He knew he had to explain quickly, or things would get worse. "Everyone, calm down and listen to my explanation!" he shouted, but his voice was quickly drowned out by the villagers' cries.

Pan Yue stood in front of Chu Feng, watching the surrounding villagers warily. "Don't be impulsive, we have no ill intentions!"

Researcher Liu Lingmai was so frightened that he trembled and hid behind Pan Yue, not daring to make a sound.

"What else is there to explain? We saw you with those monsters with our own eyes!" said a burly villager viciously.

"That's right! We all saw it!" Other villagers also echoed.

Chu Feng took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. "I admit that I have come into contact with those monsters, but I am not in the same group as them! I am here to help you!"

"Help us? Who are you kidding!" Village Chief Fang stepped out from the crowd, his face gloomy and his eyes filled with suspicion. "You said you wanted to protect the spiritual vein, but it ended up attracting monsters. Now you say you want to help us. What's your intention?"

Chu Feng took out the letter and handed it to Village Chief Fang. "Village Chief, this is the evidence I found. It proves that someone deliberately attracted monsters to destroy the spiritual vein!"

Village Chief Fang took the letter and read it carefully. The contents of the letter shocked him. He raised his head and looked at Chu Feng with complicated eyes.

At this moment, a cold voice came from outside the crowd: "Humph, nonsense! You outsiders, don't even think about deceiving us!"

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a man in black with a sinister face slowly approaching. Behind him were several ferocious thugs.

"Thief Lin!" Village chief Fang recognized the man at a glance, and his face suddenly became even uglier.

Lin the Bandit walked up to Chu Feng and sneered, "Boy, I advise you to surrender obediently, so as to avoid suffering physical pain!"

Chu Feng stared at Lin Dadao with cold eyes. He knew that the real battle had just begun... He slowly pulled out a gleaming stone from his arms...

Chu Feng pulled out a stone he had obtained from the Liu Spiritual Vein researcher. It contained a recording of the transaction between the mysterious merchant Zhao and the evil spirit Sun. He raised the stone above his head and channeled a trace of spiritual energy into it. The stone suddenly emanated a soft glow, projecting a clear image. Within the image, the mysterious merchant Zhao and the evil spirit Sun suddenly appeared, plotting how to destroy the spiritual vein and pin the blame on Chu Feng.

The villagers were initially skeptical, but upon seeing this irrefutable evidence, they were in an uproar. They pointed at the mysterious businessman Zhao and the evil spirit Sun in the video and cursed angrily. The villagers who had previously slandered Chu Feng lowered their heads in shame, regretting their impulsive actions.

"This... How is this possible?" Village Chief Fang muttered to himself in disbelief. He had always believed that Lin Dadao was the mastermind behind this, but he had never expected that the real enemy was someone else. He looked at Chu Feng with eyes full of admiration and gratitude. He knew that he had wronged this young man.

"We believe in you, Chu Feng!" a villager shouted loudly, and other villagers echoed, expressing their willingness to support Chu Feng in protecting the spiritual vein.

Chu Feng felt a warm feeling in his heart, knowing that he had finally earned the villagers' trust. He looked around and said with a firm gaze, "Thank you for your trust. I will definitely protect the spiritual vein and not let anyone destroy it!"

Seeing the situation reversed, Lin Dadao's face turned extremely ugly. He glared at Chu Feng fiercely and turned around to slip away.

"Want to leave?" Pan Yue sneered, and with a flash of his body, he blocked the way of Lin the thief.

"What do you want to do?" asked the thief Lin in a timid tone.

"Of course I will bring you to justice!" Pan Yue snorted coldly and punched Lin the thief in the stomach, knocking him to his knees.

Hiding in the crowd, the mysterious businessman Zhao watched this scene with a terribly gloomy expression. He knew he couldn't sit still any longer, or everything would be ruined. He secretly instructed Sun Xieling to intensify the destruction of the spiritual veins, hoping to cause chaos and escape.

After receiving the order, Sun Xie Ling let out a sinister laugh, and then rushed towards the direction of the spiritual vein with a group of evil spirits.

"Oh no! They are going to destroy the spiritual vein!" a villager shouted in horror.

Chu Feng's face changed. He knew the situation was critical and he had to stop Sun Xieling immediately. He turned to look at the villagers and shouted, "Everyone, follow me and protect the spiritual vein together!"

Although the villagers did not have strong fighting power, they were full of love for this land. In order to protect their homes, they picked up the hoes and sticks in their hands without hesitation, followed Chu Feng, and rushed towards the direction of the spiritual vein.

On a distant hillside, the mysterious merchant Zhao watched all this with a cold gaze, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "Hmph, a bunch of rabble, you think you can stop me?" A black bead appeared in his hand, emitting a frightening aura... "Let me show you my true power!" He suddenly crushed the bead...

Suddenly, a disgusting stench filled the air, and the ground began to shake violently... Chu Feng turned around suddenly and saw a dark cloud appearing in the sky in the distance, rapidly approaching them... "What is that..."

Dark clouds loomed over the city, a nauseating stench. Sun Xieling led a vast army of evil spirits, surging towards the spiritual veins like a black tide, emitting sharp, piercing screams. Chu Feng and Pan Yue stood at the forefront, spiritual energy surging in their hands, ready to fight.

"Protect the spirit vein!" Chu Feng shouted, charging headfirst into the swarm of evil spirits. His sword danced like the wind, its energy sweeping across the air as he slew the approaching spirits one by one. Pan Yue stood calmly by, his talismans dancing, forming barriers to block the evil spirits' attacks.

Though the villagers lacked immense strength, they didn't retreat. Wielding hoes, sticks, and even kitchen knives, they formed a crude but resolute defense. One villager's hoe struck an evil spirit on the head. While not fatal, it staggered it backward, disrupting its formation. Another villager used a stick to trip a charging evil spirit, sending it sprawling.

The evil spirits obviously had not expected these seemingly weak villagers to dare to resist, and for a moment they were caught off guard. They were distracted by the villagers, giving Chu Feng and Pan Yue more opportunities.

Amidst the fierce battle, Village Chief Fang and several villagers came running over, carrying buckets of water. "Brother Chu Feng, Brother Pan Yue, have a drink of water!" He handed the buckets to the two men, his face full of gratitude and trust.

Chu Feng took the bucket and gulped down a few mouthfuls. The cool well water made him feel refreshed. He looked at Village Chief Fang and the other villagers, and a warm feeling welled up in his heart. He knew that they were not only protecting the spiritual vein, but also their homes and their loved ones.

The battle continued, the evil spirits seemingly endless in number. Chu Feng and Pan Yue gradually began to feel their strength wear thin, and the villagers' defenses began to show holes. Just then, a deafening roar came from the distance. A gigantic evil spirit slowly descended from the black clouds, emitting a suffocating pressure.

"Oh no, it's a high-level evil spirit!" Pan Yue's face changed and he exclaimed.

Chu Feng took a deep breath. He knew that the real battle had just begun. He had to find a way to defeat this powerful evil spirit, otherwise they would all die here.

At this moment, Village Chief Fang pointed to the distance and shouted, "Look! What is that?"

Chu Feng looked in the direction Village Chief Fang pointed and saw traces of strange formations appearing on the ground around the spiritual vein, flickering with eerie light. His heart sank, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. "Mysterious businessman Zhao..." he muttered to himself, his tone filled with unease.

He walked quickly towards the traces of the formation, squatted down to observe carefully, reached out to touch the cold lines, and frowned.

"This..." He suddenly stopped talking, his eyes fixed on a strange symbol in the center of the formation, and his face changed suddenly.
