God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 68: Dangers in the Evil Nest Passage

Senior Wei Yeshiren abruptly retracted his hand, as if he had touched a branding iron. "These runes... contain powerful energy!" His face was solemn. "We must be careful. There may be other traps in the passage."

The runes' shimmering light grew stronger, illuminating the entire passage and illuminating the tense faces of the crowd. The runes on the wall seemed to come alive, twisting and distorting into incomprehensible patterns. Chu Feng and Pan Yue exchanged glances, each seeing unease in the other's eyes. These runes seemed to convey some dangerous message, but they couldn't decipher it.

"Researcher Xiong, can you figure out what these runes mean?" Chu Feng asked, hoping that the research expert could provide some help.

Researcher Xiong adjusted his glasses and carefully examined the runes on the wall, his brow furrowed. He pulled out a small scanner and scanned the runes, a complex string of data appearing on the screen. "These runes... I've never seen them before," Xiong said with a hint of solemnity in his voice. "They appear to be an ancient language, but I can't decipher it." He continued operating the scanner, attempting to analyze the energy contained in the runes. "But what is certain is that these runes contain powerful and highly unstable energy."

The corridor was completely silent, save for the flickering light of runes and the gentle hum of scanners. The atmosphere was oppressive and suffocating, and everyone felt an invisible pressure enveloping them.

Suddenly, Researcher Xiong, who was walking at the front of the team, cried out in surprise. A brick beneath his feet suddenly gave way, and a dazzling beam of energy erupted from the ground, instantly striking Researcher Xiong.

"Researcher Xiong!" Chu Feng exclaimed, rushing forward. He saw Researcher Xiong lying on the ground, groaning in pain. His chest had been hit by an energy beam, and his clothes were singed, revealing his charred skin.

Pan Yue and Senior Wei Shouye also rushed forward to check on Researcher Xiong's injuries. Senior Wei Shouye tore off a corner of his clothes and simply bandaged Researcher Xiong's wound, but the wound was too deep and blood continued to seep out.

"I... I'm fine..." Researcher Xiong said weakly, his face pale and his breathing rapid.

Chu Feng was extremely anxious. Researcher Xiong was an expert in studying the lair of evil spirits, and his technical support was crucial to their efforts. If he lost his ability to move, their next move would be even more difficult.

"Damn it!" Chu Feng cursed softly and clenched his fists. He looked around, the runes flashing on the walls, the hidden mechanisms on the ground, all of which made him feel extremely depressed and powerless.

Senior Wei, the Night Watchman, stood up, his expression grave. "We must leave here as soon as possible," he said in a deep voice. "This passage is too dangerous."

Suddenly, a faint groaning sound came from deep in the passage...

As Senior Wei Shouren finished speaking, the faint groaning sound from deep within the passageway was heard again, this time even clearer, with a hint of pain and despair. Chu Feng's heart tightened, and a bad premonition came over him.

At the same time, Researcher Xiong staggered to his feet, his face still pale. "I... I can still walk..." he said through gritted teeth, his tone full of determination.

"Researcher Xiong, your injury..." Chu Feng looked at him worriedly.

Researcher Xiong shook his head and said while trying to endure the pain: "It's okay, I can't drag everyone down..." After that, he was about to continue moving forward.

At this moment, Chu Feng suddenly felt a strong sense of crisis. He suddenly pulled Researcher Xiong, and almost at the same time, a stone brick under Researcher Xiong's feet collapsed, and a dazzling beam of energy gushed out from the ground.

"Damn it!" Chu Feng cursed inwardly. The way this mechanism was triggered was so hidden! At the critical moment, Chu Feng activated the golden finger and briefly went back to a few seconds ago.

"Researcher Xiong, watch your step!" Chu Feng shouted and pulled Researcher Xiong aside.

Almost at the same time, the stone brick collapsed again, and the energy beam gushed out, but hit the empty space.

"What's going on?" Researcher Xiong looked confused. He clearly felt that he was about to step on the brick just now.

Chu Feng didn't explain, but patted Researcher Xiong on the shoulder with lingering fear: "I'm glad you're okay. Be careful next time."

Everyone finally realized what had happened and breathed a sigh of relief. Senior Wei, the Night Watchman, even gave Chu Feng an approving look.

"Look, there's light!" Suddenly, Tong Yongshi shouted excitedly, pointing to the front of the passage. At the end of the passage, a bright light was faintly visible.

"Wait!" Senior Wei, the Night Watchman, tried to stop him, but it was too late. Young Warrior rushed out like an arrow, completely ignoring everyone's dissuasion.

"Damn it! This kid is so reckless!" Senior Wei Shouren cursed inwardly and hurriedly followed. Chu Feng, Pan Yue, and Researcher Xiong followed closely behind.

When they reached the end of the passage, they were shocked by the sight before them. Young Warrior was surrounded by a group of small evil spirits. These evil spirits were short in stature but extremely agile. They made sharp hissing sounds and continuously attacked Young Warrior.

Although the warrior boy was brave, he gradually felt powerless in the face of such a large number of evil spirits. He waved his weapons, barely fending off the attacks of the evil spirits, and several wounds appeared on his body.

"Let's go!" Chu Feng shouted, charging forward first. His weapon slashed with sharp arcs of light, repelling the approaching evil spirits one by one. Pan Yue calmly observed the evil spirits' movements, searching for their weaknesses.

Senior Wei, the Night Watchman, remained calm and composed, unleashing powerful abilities to carve out a safe zone for everyone. Researcher Xiong, though incapable of combat, followed closely behind, ready to offer support at any moment.

"These evil spirits..." Pan Yue suddenly spoke, his face solemn, "There are too many of them..."

Before he finished speaking, a creepy roar came from the depths of the passage, and the ground began to tremble slightly... "They seem to be... calling for something..." Senior Wei the Night Watchman's face turned pale and he clenched the weapon in his hand.

The tremors grew more intense, and strange red lines began to appear on the walls on both sides of the passage, pulsating like blood vessels, making people feel uneasy. The number of small evil spirits increased, screaming and swarming towards Chu Feng and others, surrounding them like a black tide.

"Protect Researcher Bear!" Senior Wei Night Watchman shouted, and the weapon in his hand burst out with dazzling light, forming a barrier to protect everyone.

Chu Feng led the charge, his weapon wielding a series of afterimages, slicing the approaching evil spirits into fragments. His agility allowed him to weave through the swarm with ease, each strike precise and deadly. Pan Yue calmly observed the spirits' movements, realizing that while these smaller spirits lacked powerful attack power, their sheer numbers and agility made them difficult to capture.

"Their weak point is in the head!" Pan Yue warned loudly, "Attack the head!"

After receiving Pan Yue's warning, Chu Feng and Senior Wei Night Watchman immediately adjusted their attack strategy. Their attacks became more precise, with each strike aimed squarely at the evil spirit's head, instantly increasing their efficiency. Although the number of small evil spirits was large, they were gradually eliminated thanks to everyone's concerted efforts.

During a lull in the battle, a woman named Lin Qing, who had volunteered to join the rescue team, approached Chu Feng with a worried look, took out a handkerchief, and gently wiped the sweat from his forehead. Lin Qing's eyes were filled with admiration and charm, and Chu Feng's heart fluttered, but he quickly refocused his attention on the battle at hand. He nodded gratefully to Lin Qing and then threw himself back into the fierce battle.

Finally, after a hard fight, everyone fought their way out. The corpses of the small evil spirits piled up like a mountain, and the passage was filled with a strong smell of blood.

"Huh..." Chu Feng breathed a sigh of relief. He felt tired, but more than that, he felt worried. This passage seemed to have no end. They hadn't yet found the direction to the core of the nest. What should they do next?

At this moment, Researcher Xiong suddenly pointed to the front of the passage and said, "Look, there seems to be something there!"

Everyone looked in the direction of Researcher Xiong's finger, and saw a huge archway looming at the end of the passage. The arch was carved with complex patterns and emitted a faint light.

"What is that?" asked Tong Yongshi curiously.

Senior Wei Shouren's face was solemn. He shook his head and said, "I don't know, but it feels very dangerous..."

"We have to go and take a look." Chu Feng said firmly, "Lu Sacrifice and others may be inside."

Everyone agreed, and they continued along the passage, heading towards the mysterious archway. As they got closer and closer to the archway, the air around them became increasingly oppressive, and a powerful evil spirit aura blew towards them, making it difficult for them to breathe.

"Wait..." Senior Wei, the Night Watchman, suddenly stopped. He looked around warily and whispered, "I feel... we're surrounded..."

As soon as he finished speaking, cracks suddenly appeared on the walls on both sides of the passage. Countless scarlet eyes opened from the cracks and stared at them intently... Senior Wei the Night Watcher gripped his weapon tightly and said in a deep voice, "Prepare for battle..."
